Clear Creek Stud was founded in 1969 by renowned horseman Jack Lohman. Over the years Clear Creek Stud has become known as Louisiana's premier Thoroughbred operation. In 1977, Val Murrell, upon graduating from LSU, joined Lohman as his assistant. Soon after, Murrell assumed management duties and maintained that position through several ownership changes at Clear Creek Stud including the partnership of Jack Lohman and C.T. Carden and continuing when C.T. Carden bought Lohman's ownership in the farm. Eventually Val and some partners bought Clear Creek Stud from the Estate of C.T. Carden. Val has made Clear Creek Stud his life's work and carries the tradition of excellence established by its founder. We are pleased to welcome you again to Clear Creek Stud, LLC and appreciate you joining us for our Annual Stallion Presentation. We are always happy to share an afternoon and lunch with you and are gratified for the opportunity to renew our commitment to serve you in whatever capacity we can with our focus primarily on foaling and breeding your mares. We enjoy this gathering, connecting with old friends and meeting new ones, and we look forward each year for this chance to visit and discuss matters most relevant to our industry and consider how to best utilize and promote all that is offered by our strong Louisiana State Breeders' Program that remains the envy of the nation. A new breeding and foaling season comes with much planning and hard work and it is welcomed with keen anticipation and excitement. Again this year, Clear Creek Stud, LLC will offer clients nicking systems that have garnered worldwide recognition and support at no charge, i.e. Enicks, True Nicks and G1 Goldmine Stallion Watch. These tools are often greatly beneficial in helping prospective breeders choose a stallion. We are proud of our strong Stallion Roster for 2018 and confident that you will find a match to serve your purpose. At Clear Creek Stud, we go to great lengths to offer Stallions that will be suitable to your particular needs as a breeder, whether your program is directed toward the commercial market or producing runners capable of competing on a national level. We are fortunate to stand an elite group of stallions with the pedigrees and conformation that would make them desirable not only in this region, but nationally as well.
This year and every year, the horse industry continues to be incredibly important to the Louisiana economy. A recent Economic Impact Study of the horse industry in Louisiana reports that Louisiana horse racing facilities and races generated over $1 billion in gaming in the United States. This study was conducted by Dek Terrell Ph.D. of Lewis, Terrell and Associates states that the total direct injection from the Louisiana horse racing industry into Louisiana s economy for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2016 was $578 million. Louisiana horse racing created a total of 12,640 Louisiana jobs, which translate into $328 million in earnings generated during the most recent year. Louisiana received over $64 million directly from the horse industry in state taxes during the fiscal year ended June 30, 2016. When taxes generated indirectly are included, state tax revenues from horse racing are over $73 million. I would suggest that you make every effort to communicate to our State Legislators, especially the newly elected ones, what our industry contributes to the economic well being of our state, particularly through the creation of numerous jobs. We appreciate their past efforts and support and look forward to working with them in the coming year to keep the horse industry healthy throughout the state. As noted in the introduction, Clear Creek is a family owned and operated business. As Head of Maintenance and Operations, Trey LaVoice keeps our facility in top notch condition and running smoothly. Michelle Murrell LaVoice, the Farm Manager and a seasoned professional, along with her dedicated and skilled support staff, will continue to provide the attention to detail in every aspect of the daily routine, making sure that the usual is accomplished unusually well. The office staff including Jan Murrell and Lisa Hobbs with the assistance of Sally Blackwell, Laura Kenny and April Holden, remain at your service to ensure any questions you might have are answered and that you have any information or help with business matters that arise over the course of time. For now we want to thank you for coming and considering the Clear Creek Stallions and hope you enjoy the day. 11591 Hwy 1078, Folsom, LA 70437 985-796-5563 Fax 985-796-3630 www.clearcreekstud.com e-mail: info@clearcreekstud.com

We look forward to proving ourselves worthy of your business and helping you pursue your Thoroughbred breeding and racing dreams. CLIENTS AND VISITORS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME! Like many of you, I grew up in a 4-H Program. I learned plenty and have a tremendous appreciation of those times with 4 - H l e a d e r s g u i d i n g a n d supporting young p e o - p l e. M a n y parents took the time to help many children, besides their own, and the young people themselves helped one another while at the same time competing. A lot of that seems to have dwindled over time and we currently have a group headed by Neely Walker and Vicki Hutchinson, working to rekindle this fire. They are striving to rebuild the Louisiana 4- H Program to once again have a significant impact on our next generation of horseman and citizens who will mature and continue the process over and over again, to keep the flames burning. Please join forces and contact these leaders [nwalker@agcenter.lsu.ed] to see what you might do to advance the cause. I consider it a most important and noble endeavor that we should all be very proud of supporting. 11591 Hwy 1078, Folsom, LA 70437 985-796-5563 Fax 985-796-3630 www.clearcreekstud.com e-mail: info@clearcreekstud.com
