Issue No 10 25 th November 2016 Trinity Student s First GCSE Mrs Hussey was delighted to present Jake Mumford with his IGCSE certificate for Spanish in Monday s whole school Assembly. Jake took the IGCSE in May at the age of 14 and gained an A* with 91%. Jake should be commended for his commitment and maturity whilst working towards this qualification. Well done Jake! GCSE RE As part of the GCSE specification, Year 10 classes had the opportunity to visit a local church whereby students learnt about the history of the church and how the architecture and design originated from the Roman villa. Students were inquisitive about the building and learnt about the role of the church as well as the symbolism. Exam Centre We are pleased to inform you that Trinity School is now registered as an exam centre. Public Speaking/ Debating Club Unfortunately, this club is cancelled on Monday 28th November (lunchtime) as Miss Collis is on a course. Absence and Illness We have had some queries regarding absence due to sickness and diarrhoea. Trinity school follow the NHS guidelines http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/gastr oenteritis/pages/introduction.aspx These recommend that students remain absent from school until at least 48 hours after their symptoms have cleared, to reduce the risk of spreading infection. Attendance Pupil attendance Year to Date Barrett 96.53% Faraday 97.00% Fry 96.99% Wilberforce 96.20% Overall 96.68% Parking We have had a number of complaints from residents living in The Crescent. Please park considerately and keep all driveways clear. A parking warden has recently been patrolling this area. We are also still getting a number of parents parking and dropping off/collecting students from the staff car park. There is space in the car park where the buses turn (gate 1). Please DO NOT use the staff car park. News and Events Friends of Trinity Please don t forget to return your raffle ticket stubs and monies for a chance to win some wonderful prizes. The envelope should be clearly labelled Raffle Friends of Trinity School and put into the Finance box outside Business Services (G32). If you haven t bought or sold all the tickets, please return these in the same envelope. Thank you in advance for your support. Deadline: Friday 9th December Draw: Monday 12th December All are welcome to attend the Friends of Trinity Christmas Coffee Afternoon and AGM, which will be held on Friday 2nd December at 1.00 -

3.00pm at Teal Café, London Road, off Morleys Roundabout on road to Hildenborough, TN15 0RS. Sports News! Latest News Year 7 Boy s Football Their first time playing together and what a season so far! The Year 7 boys have triumphantly won every game. Students have done brilliantly, bonded well as a team, demonstrating character and determination not to mention real flair and ability. They are a real credit to the school. Thanks also must go to Mr Sherwood. Year 9 Girl s Netball. The first year that the girls have ever been entered into a league and competed around Kent. The girls have grown enormously as a team since their experience in the semifinal at the England Netball weekend tournament. They have played local schools and currently are yet to be beaten. Our biggest success so far in the league was beating Knole Academy who were the Year 8 League winners last year and have recently been entered into the Kent Tournament. Inter-house Competitors Girl s Netball Year 8 Netball Inter-house Year 9 Netball Inter-house Sporting Achievements Well Done! KS3 Evie Laing, took her dance exam for her IDTA silver medal, performing extremely well and passing with highly commended. Evie! Well done Stefan Zdzylowski represented the U18 Sevenoaks hockey team in goal. A vital position on the field. A tense match saw some amazing saves ending with a draw, but as this was a cup match the game could not end in a tie. Penalty flicks were awarded and Stefan stepped up and saw U18 Sevenoaks Hockey Boy s win their game! Upcoming Fixtures All upcoming fixtures are now on the Trinity public calendar with return and pick up information. Please be aware that the times on the calendar are an estimate only. Please ensure your son and daughter communicates the information from their teacher regarding pick up times. Please be aware that cancellations will now be present on the calendar. At Trinity we do not cancel fixtures, but unfortunately other schools sometimes do. We will be trying to reorganise all cancelled fixtures in due course. Exciting News! Trinity are fortunate enough to have been selected to host Lydia Greenway in January 2017. Lydia is an England cricketer, who retired recently from international cricket in June 2016. If you are a GIRL and cricket interests you or is something that you want to try out, encourage your friends and come along to cricket club with one of our coaches. See how much fun cricket can be and you may be selected to be in Lydia s 2 hour workshop in January. What have you got to lose?

Sport Ambassadors Could all sports ambassadors please meet Miss Trew Tuesday 29 th November at the beginning of lunch in the sports hall for a quick meeting regarding moving forward with their role and responsibility. Knole Run A cold, wet afternoon spent at Knole Park with students from Year 7 and 8. Trinity entered a team of 7 girls and 10 boys. They all finished in the top 100, with none of our students stopping. They showed real grit particularly in light of the challenging terrain and cold weather conditions. We are still awaiting the results of times and standings but a huge congratulations to each and every one of the students! Clubs and Cancellations Due to the weather changes and the light slowly disappearing at 4.30pm, the PE department would like to make you aware that over the next couple of months there will be a reduction in sports clubs. Due to the vast range on offer, if the weather is poor we do not have the indoor space to accommodate everyone. In the event of a club change an email will be sent out. If travel arrangements are altered to allow your son/daughter to attend a club please keep it in mind that there is always homework club until 4.30pm. I can only apologise in advance if clubs are cancelled, however the reasoning is always out of our control. Leonard Cheshire Christmas Fayre Leonard Cheshire Disability, one of our community service partners, are having their annual Christmas Arts and Crafts Fayre on Saturday 26 th November, where you can purchase handmade jewellery, decorations, mince pies and more! All are welcome. icare Revolution On Friday 18th November all the students had a chance to see an amazing anti-bullying presentation from icare Revolution who are part of Hillsong Church in London, as part of anti-bullying week. It was a musical, active and engaging session, where the group talked about all people having value, the hope we find in Jesus as well as some amazing spoken word performances and interesting stories about family gatherings!

Monthly Prayer Meeting: Please join us in school for our monthly prayer meeting on Thursday 1 st December at 9.30-10.30am. All are welcome as we pray for our school and community. Please park in the far bus car park (gate 1) and then sign in at reception. Christmas Service: This year s Trinity Christmas Service will be held at school on Tuesday 13 th December at 5.30-6.30pm. It will include carols, students playing music, readings and our lovely choir. If you would like to come, please email adunstall@trinitysevenoaks.com to request the number of tickets you require. These will then be emailed to you on a first come first served basis (we apologise that we will not be able to fit everyone into our school hall), please then print them and bring them with you to the service. We will be working on a no ticket, no entry basis so please remember them. Chaplaincy: Psalm 100:4-5 As advent is nearly here, before the gift giving and family time of Christmas, it is a great time of year to give thanks for all that we have. We are very lucky to have things that we often take for granted as I discovered recently when I was without running water for just one morning! Advent is a great opportunity to say thank you to God and to others as we look forward to Christmas. Please join us on Thursday 1 st December for our monthly prayer meeting (details above) if you are able, where we will give thanks for the things that have happened over the last month at school and pray for the future as well. God bless, Alice Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
