Issue No 10 25 th November 2016 Trinity Student s First GCSE Mrs Hussey was delighted to present Jake Mumford with his IGCSE certificate for Spanish in Monday s whole school Assembly. Jake took the IGCSE in May at the age of 14 and gained an A* with 91%. Jake should be commended for his commitment and maturity whilst working towards this qualification. Well done Jake! GCSE RE As part of the GCSE specification, Year 10 classes had the opportunity to visit a local church whereby students learnt about the history of the church and how the architecture and design originated from the Roman villa. Students were inquisitive about the building and learnt about the role of the church as well as the symbolism. They are a real credit to the school. Thanks also must go to Mr Sherwood. Year 9 Girl s Netball. The first year that the girls have ever been entered into a league and competed around Kent. The girls have grown enormously as a team since their experience in the semifinal at the England Netball weekend tournament. They have played local schools and currently are yet to be beaten. Our biggest success so far in the league was beating Knole Academy who were the Year 8 League winners last year and have recently been entered into the Kent Tournament. Inter-house Competitors Girl s Netball Year 8 Netball Inter-house Year 9 Netball Inter-house Sporting Achievements Well Done! KS3 Evie Laing, took her dance exam for her IDTA silver medal, performing extremely well and passing with highly commended. Evie! Well done Stefan Zdzylowski represented the U18 Sevenoaks hockey team in goal. A vital position on the field. A tense match saw some amazing saves ending with a draw, but as this was a cup match the game could not end in a tie. Penalty flicks were awarded and Stefan stepped up and saw U18 Sevenoaks Hockey Boy s win their game! Upcoming Fixtures All upcoming fixtures are now on the Trinity public calendar with return and pick up information. Please be aware that the times on the calendar are an estimate only. Sport Ambassadors Could all sports ambassadors please meet Miss Trew Tuesday 29 th November at the beginning of lunch in the sports hall for a quick meeting regarding moving forward with their role and responsibility. Knole Run A cold, wet afternoon spent at Knole Park with students from Year 7 and 8. Trinity entered a team of 7 girls and 10 boys. They all finished in the top 100, with none of our students stopping. They showed real grit particularly in light of the challenging terrain and cold weather conditions. We are still awaiting the results of times and standings but a huge congratulations to each and every one of the students! Clubs and Cancellations Due to the weather changes and the light slowly disappearing at 4.30pm, the PE department would like to make you aware that over the next couple of months there will be a reduction in sports clubs. Due to the vast range on offer, if the weather is poor we do not have the indoor space to accommodate everyone. In the event of a club change an email will be sent out. If travel arrangements are altered to allow your son/daughter to attend a club please keep it in mind that there is always homework club until 4.30pm. I can only apologise in advance if clubs are cancelled, however the reasoning is always out of our control. Leonard Cheshire Christmas Fayre Leonard Cheshire Disability, one of our community service partners, are having their annual Christmas Arts and Crafts Fayre on Saturday 26 th November, where you can purchase handmade jewellery, decorations, mince pies and more! Chaplaincy: Psalm 100:4-5 As advent is nearly here, before the gift giving and family time of Christmas, it is a great time of year to give thanks for all that we have. We are very lucky to have things that we often take for granted as I discovered recently when I was without running water for just one morning! Advent is a great opportunity to say thank you to God and to others as we look forward to Christmas. Please join us on Thursday 1 st December for our monthly prayer meeting (details above) if you are able, where we will give thanks for the things that have happened over the last month at school and pray for the future as well. God bless, Alice Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
