Letter from the Editor Happy New Year members! I trust everyone had a wonderful Christmas and holiday break. Welcome to a new year! As we know, with a new year comes an AGM. This year our AGM will be held on 30th January at the Federal Hotel, gathering at 6pm with nibbles provided, and then the AGM starting at 7.00pm. As always, we encourage all members to attend, all positions will be declared vacant, and nominations will be taken for committee positions. If you feel you might like to take on a job this year, by all means come along, you can even contact the existing committee members to find out more about what jobs are available, and what they involve. Some more news- the club committee have been in works with Nominate to create a system for paying and submitting club memberships through their organisation. Currently we are just ironing out a few hiccups and then we should have all our memberships up and running through nominate in the next week or two, so keep an eye out for the link on our webpage to join and pay your membership through www.nominate.com.au. A draft Calendar of MARC events for 2018 is on the MARC website. The dates for our major events have already been decided, but at the AGM we will decide what activities will be organised for the other tba days if you have any ideas on what activities you would like, please put your suggestions forward. Then keep a close eye on the MARC Calendar updates so you can plan your horsey outings for the year (and also so you can plan other social / family events so they don t clash with your horse plans!). MARC Christmas party and awards night. Many thanks to those who attended our Christmas party and awards night, which was held at Pam Thurlow s house, and was well attended and received. Everyone brought a plate, and the food (as usual) was delicious and plenty! The night had a Retro-Hawaiian theme, and everyone did a wonderful job with their dress, and Pam did a great job decorating. Thanks to Pam for hosting - her patio and courtyard were a great place to wind down after a successful year. Thanks Pam. Not only award winners at the MARC Christmas party - but as a club, MARC was nominated for the Dressage Queensland Club of the Year award, and we won! Congratulations to the Dressage committee, and the club as a whole for running such quality dressage days and for offering a range of learning, competitive and social activities for all members. Congratulations too to Marilyn Costigan for being a finalist in the Vince Corvi Tribute Award for services to Equestrian Sport. This is a very prestigious award, so to be a finalist is an honour. You are a valuable asset to our club, and we are honoured to have you. Well done!
