Kristi Toliver's 3-pointer capped a 9-4 start for the Sparks, but Minnesota rallied in front 22-20 after one quarter and Moore triggered a 9-0 spurt that pushed the lead to seven early in the second. Sylvia Fowles' last-second putback sent the Lynx into halftime holding a 46-40 edge, which grew to 10 on a Moore steal and layup at the 8:14 mark of the third. Back-to-back treys from Chelsea Gray and Toliver narrowed the gap to 60-59 in the final minute of the period, and L.A. finally caught the Lynx when Candace Parker made it 69-69 with 6:01 left. Whalen responded with the next two baskets and Minnesota used jumpers from Seimone Augustus and Rebekkah Brunson to remain ahead before Brunson and Moore secured the win with free throws in the waning seconds. Whalen had 13 points and Fowles collected 10 points and 13 rebounds for Minnesota, while Gray led the Sparks with 20 points and Toliver and Parker added 15 and 14, respectively. Previous Game: Friday, Oct. 14 Los Angeles 92, Minnesota 75 Candace Parker and Nneka Ogwumike combined for 45 points and fueled a first-quarter barrage as Los Angeles cruised to a 92-75 win over the Lynx on Friday night at the Galen Center. The Sparks never trailed, tallying the game's first seven points and opening a 19-6 lead on back-to-back 3-pointers from Ogwumike. Parker's hook at the 1:58 mark gave Los Angeles its largest advantage of the night at 30-8, and the margin remained at 20 until Minnesota closed the first half with a 14-2 rally that narrowed the gap to 48-40. Essence Carson's basket with 4:06 left in the third period put the Sparks in front by double digits for good, and L.A. carried a 70-58 lead into the fourth. Jumpers by Maya Moore and Lindsay Whalen helped the Lynx carve a 17-point deficit to 81-71 with 3:42 to play, but two Alana Beard layups bookended an 8-0 response that sealed the victory for Los Angeles. Parker finished with 24 points and nine rebounds for the Sparks while Ogwumike added 21 points and nine boards, and Beard chipped in 15 points and seven assists.
