Hayes was declared the winner of the 1876 presidential election by the U.S. Congress. Samuel Tilden had won the popular vote. 1899 Mount Rainier National Park in Washington state was established by the U.S. Congress. 1917 Citizens of Puerto Rico were granted U.S. citizenship.
Box Tops for Education The PE department is collecting Box Tops for Education. Please turn them in to your PE/Health teacher.
Ronald McDonald House Charities Grissom is once again collecting pop tabs to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities! The pop tabs are recycled and sold for scrap metal. Last year, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana raised more than $40,000 from this program. A collection box will be in the Commons for your donations!

Intramural Soccer Indoor soccer intramurals are held Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:45-8:30. Permission slips are in the rack outside the Main Office.

March Madness in the Media Center March Madness has begun! Bring your ipad to the Media Center to choose what books will advance to Week 2. Scan this QR code to place your vote! You may only vote once per week!
Grissom Green Team The Grissom Green Team no longer needs plastic bottles! (Thank you for your donations!) We are still collecting bottle caps, paper towel holders and toilet paper holders. Keep up the great work, Grissom!!
Chorus Chorus meets Monday and Thursday after school in the Band room.
Black Out Dance The Grissom-Prairie View dance has been rescheduled for Friday, March 9 th from 6-8 pm. All students who previously purchased a ticket will be given a revised ticket on Tuesday, March 6 th. If you need a refund, it will be issued on Tuesday, March 6 th. Tickets will be sold on Wednesday, March 7 th and Thursday, March 8 th during lunches. Tickets will NOT be sold at the dance!
Music in Our Schools Month Did you know that March is Music in Our Schools month? Come celebrate music with us on Wednesday, March 7 th. The Concert Band and the Grissom and Prairie View choruses will perform at 7:30 pm at Prairie View.
Graduation Fees Graduation fees are due NO LATER than Friday, March 9 th! Fees are $35, and check or money order must be made payable to KSD140. No cash will be accepted.
Soccer Tryouts Tryouts for girls soccer will be held Monday, March 12 th and Wednesday, March 14 th at Millennium. Students trying out will be bussed to Millennium, but you must get your own transportation home. Tryout permission forms are in the rack outside the office and are due Friday, March 9th. NO LATE FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED!
Declamation Declamation will meet today after school in Room 118.
Crayola ColorCycle Students and teachers will soon be collecting used markers (any brand!) to be converted into clean fuel. This fuel can be used to power vehicles, heat homes, cook meals and more! Boxes will be located in the Commons. The Crayola ColorCycle program can keep tons of plastic out of landfills each year! Remember, don t throw out that used marker ColorCycle it!

Student Support Before and after school Student Support is offered from 8:00-8:35 am each morning, and from 3:10-4:05 pm Monday through Thursday. You must arrive at the beginning of the session and stay for the whole time!
Water Bottle Filling Station Challenge Last year Grissom Patriots saved over 6,600 plastic water bottles from ending up in landfills by using the water bottle filling stations throughout the building. Please remember to use these instead of plastic bottles. So far this year, we ve saved 6,750 bottles from landfills! Let s beat last year s total!
