Introduction ShotHelper is a generic aid for online gaming offering the following features: - Adjustable size ruler window - No obstruction or cluttering of the application/meter - Programmable buttons to control the ruler scale - Browser/Flash-Player independent operation - Sizable tool window to support different screen resolutions - Operating systems: Windows 7, 8 Feel free to install the Demo version to test out the tool and check if it works for you. You can enable the Full version by purchasing a key at www.teslagon.com/shothelper. Installation Process Here are the steps to install ShotHelper on your computer: 1. Download setup file from www.teslagon.com/shothelper 2. Follow the instructions to install the program 3. ShotHelper requires Microsoft.NET Framework 4.5.x and the Visual C++ Redistributable (x86) for Visual Studio 2013 to run. These programs will be installed on your computer prior to the ShotHelper program itself if they don t exist. The installation will take about 5-10min. 3
ShotHelper Quick Setup This example uses the popular online golf game WGT as an example how to setup the tool. 1. Start ShotHelper a. Ignore initial message of missing "INI" file 2. Enter ShotHelper key a. In order to use the full feature set of ShotHelper you will have to obtain a personalized key. Please visit www.teslagon.com/shothelper to purchase the key b. Open Setup->Tool->Enter Key c. Mark and copy key from your confirmation E-Mail d. Paste key into the key window and press <Enter>. e. Upon entering a valid personalized key the full version of ShotHelper will be enabled. 3. Size game window (e.g. WGT) and move to the desired position 4. Setup and start a "Stroke Play" game 5. Based on your screen resolution and game window size you will have to decide whether to use the Small Window or Large Window version of the program. This can be done under Setup- >Tool-> or by pressing <F7>. 6. Adjust ShotHelper window position a. Press F2 to go frameless b. Press F5 and position ShotHelper bar by moving the little blue square to the right of the ruler. c. Move ShotHelper window right below the WGT meter. d. Align the most left vertical line of the WGT meter (where the meter bar "starts") to the right side of the ShotHelper ruler 7. Adjust the Club ruler (Full mode only) a. Press F6 and adjust ruler window size to the left edge of the WGT meter b. Left mouse click to save position 8. Adjust the Putter Ruler (Full mode only) a. Play the 1st hole until the ball has reached the green b. Click on the Putter1 button c. Press F6 and size the left edge of the ruler like before. d. Left mouse click to save position (works only in Full mode of ShotHelper) e. There will be a little gap to the right of the ruler, because Club and Putter meter don t start at the same position. Don t worry about that you will know why when you start playing. 9. Setup Clubs (Full mode only) 4
a. In order to display the right length of the individual clubs the ruler can be adjusted for each club b. Under Setup->Bag->Club Settings (or <F3>) both the name and the length of the 13 clubs can be customized. c. Whenever the respective Club button in the main window is pressed the correct length will show in the ruler 10. Setup Putter (Full mode only) a. ShotHelper allows setting up 4 different lengths for the putter. This will be important to account for different distances to the whole on the green. b. Under Setup->Bag->Putter Settings (or <F4>) you can adjust your different putters c. The program supports three different putters with individual lengths. d. The putter selected will be used for the current game. e. The different length of a given putter can be toggled by pressing the Putter button in the main window more than once. 11. Setup Avatar/Name (Full mode only) a. You can personalize your ShotHelper with your name / Avatar name under Setup->About... 12. All settings will be automatically saved when closing ShotHelper 5
The Main Window During the use of ShotHelper the main window will look like this: Setup Putter button FlexRuler New Ruler New Driver / % Button Club buttons All functions needed for using ShotHelper are easily accessible. Setup Allows setting up the tool and clubs Main Window with frame Putter button puts the ruler window in putter mode. Pressing the putter button repeatedly will toggle through the different putter length. Ruler Displays the length of the current club in yards are feet. New FlexRuler Clicking on the Ruler opens a dialog window which to quickly adapt the ruler to non standard club distances. Confirm entered distance with <ENTER>. Club buttons Pressing any club button will set the ruler to display the actual distance of the club. New Driver / % button Pressing the most left club button will toggle between the driver distance and a % display. Main Window - frameless For better placement and usage ShotHelper can be used in frameless mode (<F2>). The window now can be move by pressing <F5> and grabbing the little blue square to the right of the ruler (see description later). All other functions remain the same. 6
The Setup Menu All functions to customize Shot helper can be reached in the Setup menu. The main menu should be pretty much self explanatory. Note that most of the functions can also be invoked using the function keys on your keyboard. About Submenu Upon selecting the About... menu item the ShotHelper credentials window will be shown. This window contains the TESLAGON credentials and your personal information as coded in the program key. In here you can also setup your Avatar name which then will show in the main window frame a well as the Windows taskbar icon. Help Submenu Help or <F1> opens this file using your default PDF reader. Bag Submenu The Bag submenu contains all the functions to setup your clubs (name and length) for both main clubs and putter. 7
Club Settings Window This window allows you to individually configure your fairway clubs. The club name has a limit of 6 characters; the distance (in yards) is limited to three digits. The clubs will be displayed in order (1-13 from left to right) in the main window. The Driver will be placed to the far left, followed by the 3Wood on so on. By changing the names (and distances) around you can determine where the clubs will be displayed in the main window. This gives you full flexibility to use any order you like. After completing you changes press <Done> and save the settings. <Cancel> will quit the window without saving the changes. Putter Settings Window Similar to the Club Settings window the Putter Settings window allows you to customize your Putter(s). 4 different distances (in ft) can be set to account for the fact that distance to the pin will not always allow to use the shortest Putter distance. In the main window the distance for the selected Putter 8
can be toggled by pressing the Putter button multiple times. The ruler than will be updated with the next distance. ShotHelper is to be able to configure and use three different putters. Use the radio buttons at the top to determine which putter you want to use. The second and third putter settings can be used for the case that you actually have more than one putter in your bag or want to quickly adapt to different green speeds. After completing you changes press <Done> and save the settings. <Cancel> will quit the window without saving the changes. Tool Submenu The Tool submenu contains all the functions to setup your ShotHelper program. 9
Move ShotHelper Pressing <F5> allows moving the ShotHelper window in frameless mode. Just grab the ShotHelper logo and adjust the position. Press F5 and grab the ShotHelper logo to move the window Size Ruler The Ruler typically will have to be adjusted based on the screen resolution and game window size. Selecting Size Ruler or pressing <F6> will do that for you. During the sizing process the ruler will turning blue and the cursor symbol will change to. By moving the mouse to the left or right you can adjust the left side of the ruler. Remember to make sure that the right side of the ruler is aligned with the meter before you do this. The left edged of the ruler will have to be adjusted for the Club mode and Putter mode separately. Clicking the left mouse button again will freeze and save the ruler to the current position. 10
Sizing the Main Window ShotHelper allows for three different sizes of the main window. The use of either one will strongly depend on your screen resolution and size of the game window. This function can also be invoked by using the function key <F7>. Enter Key Selecting Enter Key will open a dialog window to read in your personalized key. Just copy your key from the confirmation E-mail and paste it into the key field and press <ENTER> to read in the key. If a valid key was detected the credential window will open and show your information. Show/Hide Frame Switch Toggles between frame and frameless mode. This can also be done by using function key <F2>. Save Settings Saves your current settings. Close Saves the current settings and closes ShotHelper.
