Comments Number Response Text 1 The weather was amazing - same again next year please! 2 good event - happy to support school 3 Make sure the weather is as good as it was this year! One of the best races I have run for a very long time (and in a good cause!) 4 great atmosphere and organisation, very welcoming, 5 Chipped timings? More toilets. Other than that I think it is a well run and friendly race. Love the sandwiches and cakes 6 I would love an earlier start time - 1.00pm is a little too late in the day to start a race. 7 really enjoyed it - the lack of t-shirt/medal etc really isn't an issue as entrants know the money is going to the local community. Seemed like a very friendly race too. 8 Might be a bit of a long shot this, but chip timing...either like the Coniston 14 who attach their timing tags to your race number, or the chip on shoe method...that way everyone gets a startline to finish time rather than just a "gun" time in the case of Dent. 9 very good race 10 xxxx 11 Must be one of the most scenic road races in the calendar. 12 Could you get someone to play a bit of folk music or do a stand - up routine? Would make the atmosphere even better. 13 A water station at the finish would have been much appreciated. If there was one already I did not see it. 14 Prizes for older women and men would be good. No prizes for over 60 or over 65 women. 15 I think you did an excellent job 16 Excellent event well organised look forward to next year many thanks to the organisers 17 I am 64 and running slower these days. I usually run Dentdale as a training race for London Marathon. the cut off time doesn't give me time to reach 8 miles 18 was fabulous event well done. 19 personally I'd like a bottle of water rather than the cups as you have to stop and drink the cups. Water at the end would have been good too 20 prize giving could be more organised and do vets every in 5 yr ages rather than 10. Lovely cake display though and obviously lots of hard work gone into everything...well done! 21 It is a well organised event in superb surroundings. 22 Water station at the finish would be great 23 I have done the event several times. It is one of my favourite events. I f I stop doing it this will be due to injury or retirement rather than any reflection on the event itself. The event is clearly for charity so I have no expectations of goody bags, t shirts, medals etc at the finish. The support of the local community is excellent. 24 A really enjoyable experience. Thank you to everyone involved for making it that way 25 Great weather!! 26 T shirts to fit small ladies! 27 cant see how it could be improved, maybe take the hills out?? 28 "Although a challenging course on a day which we had on saturday the views were spectacular.
29 Maybe an improvement would be water at finishing line" 30 some water at the finish line 31 Definitely need water at the finish line. And a medal would have been nice. Otherwise excellent organisation. 32 At be bottles at the water stations as the cups spilt the water easy when grabbing 33 The marshals, people manning the water stations and spectators were very friendly making for an enjoyable event. 34 Race tough and therefore sells itself, after the race nothing special, left to fend for yourself rather than been looked after. 35 It is a fab race and not because of the questions asked in this survey such as how good are the toilets, parking, mementoes etc...it is fab because of the people, the scenery, the atmosphere and the best WI catering I have experienced within the Dentdale valley. I love it and will aim to keep doing it into my 70's 36 sandwiches should be fresh. My bread was very dry. 37 There was a problem with cars passing on narrow sections, particularly 5-7 miles. 38 Cannot add much- always a great day out especially the teas post race which are much appreciated. Thanks 39 Don't mind the lack of memento if it keeps entry price reasonable. Keep it as it is please! 40 Instead of a type of random number prize at the presentation why not just say anyone over 60/65 who hasn't won a prize come and collect, say a bottle. just a small thing but i think it's nice. Also an over 65 & 70 prize. 41 You should publicise the t-shirts and sweatshirts with the runners' names on the back. I think it's a great memento and I nearly didn't notice them. 42 Prizes to 3rd place for age groups please 43 Would have been good to have a memento for the 30th anniversary. Don't expect one usually at this race but would have been a nice touch this year. 44 14 miles and no medal? :-) 45 There was no water on the finish line 46 I really enjoyed the event this year, and I intend to enter again next year. If you could arrange more fantastic weather next year that would be appreciated. 47 water at the finish 48 One of my favourite races - not sure how you would improve it. 49 don't allow the 13 people who beat me to enter again! 50 Very disappointed there were no vet prizes 1st. 2nd, 3rd for vet men 51 I thought there was a problem over my online entry as my computer froze in between my authorising payment & having its receipt confirmed. RaceBest & the run organiser were both helpful & prompt in allaying my concerns. Thanks. 52 Better shower facilities. Did 1.50 went to showers which were cold. 53 brilliant 54 It was pretty much perfect. Thanks for a great day. 55 There seemed to be a lack of water/juice at the end this year, when I was gasping. Apart from that, I do like this event, so friendly. 56 It would be nice to get a medal or t-shirt 57 no cracking run really enjoyed the day. lovely weather cuppa tea afterwards is always the icing on the cake. thanks 58 As a novice to competitive running, I found this a very friendly race and will definitely be back next year! Perhaps some comments from past competitors would be good to have on the website. 59 Really hard work would have loved a medal 60 "No water at the finishing line - very poor.
61 Small goody bag/t shirt would have been nice." 62 Missed the rain this year! 63 Well organised, beautiful setting, fab route please don't change it. 64 Very efficient that the results were posted online so soon after the race, however disappointed that the results for those few who finished after 2 hours 45 minutes were not posted. 65 I've only been a club runner for just over a year but this has been my favourite run in this time. Very well organised, it has a small run feel but with good numbers. I LOVED getting a cup of tea in a proper mug at the end an also loved the fact the cups were all different so obviously loaned to the event by volunteers. The marshals were very friendly and encouraging and the course was excellent. I'm normally not a fan of tarmac courses but the scenery was so nice around the route that you forget you are on a road. Cannot rate this race highly enough. I'll definitely be back next year. Thank you. 66 don't know how u cud improve it. Perhaps water at finish, 1st thing u want is a small cup o'water. Offer a t-shirt when entering, some other races give u the option of buying a t-shirt when u enter a race or publicise the selling of t-shirts on the day. I would have probably bought one if I had known there were some on sale. 67 Very sadly, could not make the run due to other stuff at the last minute. I was SO sad and MAD, but hope to come next year. Hope it all went well Fiona Schneider 68 I would prefer the standard age categories to be used.i.e. M40, M45, M50, M55 etc 69 Like many other races, the vets categories differ for Men & Women (e.g up to MV60 for men & only up to FV55 for ladies). As a 60 year old I had to run like hell to compete with 55 year olds. I won the prize but I think there should be equal categories for both sexes. Otherwise a brilliant race as always. Thanks 70 "Water stations - 1st was rather a long way into the race and there was no water at the finish. 71 At the prizegiving there was the opportunity for non winners to get a prize from a draw. This took a long time because most runners weren't there. It would have been better to have a large plastic bag available and invite runners who were there to put their number in and then you would know that any number coming out should provide a winner in the room." 72 More toilets 73 It was my 1st Dentdale race and I thought it was great and have already recommended it to fellow running friends. 74 Water at finish line would have been greatly appreciated! 75 Overall a very enjoyable event, if you could keep the weather we had yesterday it would be excellent, beautiful place, maybe an extra water stop! 76 It's one of the very special events, friendly and well organized - don't change it too much please! 77 just a great race thanks to all involved. 78 Yes provide water at the finish 79 A very enjoyable event &day out. Great scenery. 80 Some form of momentous - medal, mug etc. 81 Could we have the same weather next year please ;) very well managed and run. Marshalls were superb 82 Bottles at water stations instead of plastic cups 83 The "one prize per runner" that was advertised didn't happen in the end, with people getting 2 prizes. But a great race. 84 "The spot prize giving was a bit long winded. Better to give prizes to category winners. 85 Catering was excellent and much appreciated, thanks!" 86 Excellent run, well organised, T Shirt would fill a void from 9 and a half to 10. 87 This race is brilliant and everyone so friendly and organised, thanks v much really enjoyed it. 88 Found it difficult to enter online, took 2 days to access sage pay. 89 Give 3 prizes for each of the race categories instead of all the random prizes and a small memento of the race would be nice. 90 "This year some competitors received two prizes. At most races those who win the top prizes do not also receive age group prizes. This gives the chance for more people to win something.
91 The raffle was a fun idea but too slow and many people had already left." 92 10k or juniors run might be fun 93 I know it was lazy on my part but it might be an idea to tell folk there is a campsite in the village - or was it adhoc? Also from an approach aspect, it might be wise to advise people to avoid coming over the single ish track road from Ingleton!!! My sister was mortified at that road haha... on a serious note maybe it's better left free for the locals to use. I totally enjoyed the race. Would you consider perhaps giving people the half route option with perhaps different colour bibs or would it make the results timings hard to collate? Brilliant event. 94 This year there were no drinks at the finish 95 A memento to take away, more drinks stations on route and a drink of water at the finish 96 We would have loved a medal or tshirt. Overall the day was outstanding. Thank you! 97 Long way until first water stop 98 It would have been nice to award vet prizes more than 1 deep rather than allot spot prizes. There were strong vet fields for men and women and recognition of effort would have been a bonus. 99 It was a brilliant day. Well organised and the after catering was beyond fabulous. Lovely people, lovely food/tea and overall a fabulous day out thank you. 100 Have the water in the showers hot all the time, although the lady who asked did sort the problem but has been a problem in previous years!! 101 Don't change it. I first ran it in the 90s and it's always been a brilliant event. The tea, butties & cakes afterwards a particular highlight:-) 102 water stations need improvement, more people on them and sooner than 5.5 miles 103 Get rid of the hill at 13 miles... 104 Same weather as 2014 105 I don't think it could. It's a lovely race in fantastic surroundings 106 The online entry system via runners world requires you to be a subscriber to RW. Otherwise and excellent event, one of the highlights of my race year. My running club (Sedgefield Harriers) makes a weekend of it, hiring two cottages and using the facilities (Pubs!!) in the village all weekend. We love coming to Dent and the people are so welcoming. 107 A very enjoyable event but no commemorative medal at the end and perhaps a table of drinks at the finish line would be good. Great day though. 108 A race memento would be nice. Doesn't need to be a medal or shirt, but something is better than nothing after such a tough race. 109 5 year age groups prizes. I know v55 who do not enter this race for this reason. 110 Best post race goodie bag ever and a free cup of tea! 111 Really enjoyed the race as usual and the great weather was a pure bonus. It'd be great to get a small memento for finishing - small slate plaque maybe; wouldn't need a year, then you could bulk buy, I have received something similar at Buttermere Round - a circular disc with the key names of the route printed on in a circle.
