Definition of Roles Manager Approved by Board, selected by Division Director Single point of accountability and contact for the team Leader and Administrator of the team Responsible for safety, attendance, parent communications, player development and demeanor Coach Approved by Board, selected by Manager Supports the Manager with any task at the direction of the Manager

Top 5 Manager Responsibilities Abide by all LLOR, Local and D9 rulesespecially rules on mandatory play! Adhere to KNLL Safety Plan (ASAP) and report all injuries to the Safety Officer Communicate all pertinent information to parents and players in a timely fashion Secure umpire and scorekeeper volunteers Return all equipment at the end of the season on time and in good condition

Review Process VP s provide applicant list to committee for review- Jan 31 st Manager and Coach Committee consists of Division Directors Committee reviews applicants based on: Experience Parent, Manager, and Coach feedback Service record from previous year Phone interview with new candidates Committee presents recommended slate to President President reviews slate Asks committee to make adjustments Sends to the KNLL Board for approval
Approval and Selection Board approves the slate of Managers and Coaches during a closed session- Feb 7 th Registration closes and team numbers are projected Division Director selects Managers from the list of Board approved Managers Managers are notified of selection Remaining Managers and Coaches are notified that they are approved for coaching positions
Why did I not get a team? We did not receive your application More Managers than teams Not approved as a Manager through Board approval process
Additional Points of Note Either truly means Manager or Coach Managers cannot select Coaches before draft or team formations Upper Divisions- Coaches cannot request to coach for a certain Manager Lower Divisions- Manager/Coach combinations will be considered Any additional coaches must pass a background check and be approved by Board before March 1 st
TEAM FORMATION
KNLL Fosters Community To foster community among Players, Parents, and Volunteers, KNLL Forms teams with a blank slate each year Assigns Managers with a blank slate each year Creates team names each year
Lower Divisions T-Ball, A, AA (BB), AAA (SB) KNLL Forms teams by schools Facilitates friend requests Facilitates family requests (siblings, parents) Team sizes that support development and reps Sometimes Schools are split up Team sizes expand
Upper Divisions AAA (BB), Coast (SB), Majors, Junior KNLL Forms teams for league parity Facilitates parent/child (Manager/player) requests Facilitates sibling requests Meets Little League requirements for team size and age distribution Sometimes Parity isn t as close as we would like Occasionally we have to file waivers for size or age distribution
Baseball Draft All AAA/Majors players must evaluate at least once and are strongly encouraged to attend both sessions for their division Players are evaluated in 6 areas; hitting, infield, fly-balls, pitching, catcher and running. Players are ranked based on scores at evaluations Players are put on teams based on a computer program that uses a Serpentine Draft Pitchers and catchers are balanced among the teams Managers draw a number from a hat that is their team Children of Managers are then placed on their team
Softball Draft Players must attend at least one Evaluation Coast, Majors, and Juniors may require a draft One team between KALL and KNLL- combine for one team Two teams between KALL/KNLL- work with KALL on parity Two or more teams in KNLL- draft within KNLL only KNLL only draft is same process as Baseball

Little League University www.littleleagueu.org FREE!!! Videos and articles for Coaches, Umpires, Parents, and League Officials KNLL will use these resources for both Baseball and Softball
TEE BALL
New Tee Ball Program Starts after LWSD Spring Break Schedule is 10-12 Tee Ball Events 45 minute practices 45 minute games Same 1-2 days and times each week All Teams Participate at each Tee Ball Event Follow the same practice plans from Little League University We are looking for two Tee Ball Lead Managers
KNLL Goals Consistent early development and training of baseball/softball skills Proven method for practice schedule Reduce scheduling conflicts for families Optimize Field Usage Adjust Tee Ball diamond sizes as necessary Free up fields with backstops for divisions that need one Smaller teams = more reps
ALL-STARS
All-Stars May 1 st, Manager and Coach commitment forms sent out to eligible coaches Assigned within Bonzi as manager or one of two coaches for a team Worked in their team s dugout at least 60% of games In good standing with KNLL Mid May; All-Star information meeting First week of June; selection meetings start
