President s Perspective Presidential Perspective: With two of the four national shows completed the show season is coming quickly to a close. With the cooler August weather, it makes it feel like fall and a great time to hit the trails. The show season isn t quite over yet and I am still looking for youth members, anyone that is 18 or younger, that are interested in competing in the National Judging contest during The US Nationals. I need to make sure we have the numbers before registering and booking the rooms. Please contact me if you are interested. As I look back at the beginning of the show season; I am pleased with how both of our horse shows were a big success, but there is still room for improvement. The show committees have already started the process of prepping for next year s shows. If there are suggestions, please forward them to me. Looking at using technology for efficiency we will be transitioning the Facebook page from a person format to a page format. There will be a transition period, but please make sure you follow the new one once it is up and running. This will allow anyone to follow and alleviate the need to monitor the person page and approving friends and allow easier sharing of posts and information. Happy trails Kaitlyn Frenchick 3
Dear fellow NMAHA members, 2017 NMAHA Royalty Queen s Message As our year is winding down I would like to thank you for your support through it all. My favorite thing I ve done this year was helping out at the Verndale show. I was able to talk to the judge a little and extend my learning about what the judge is looking for in classes. Also seeing Addi and Lexi s enthusiasm in handing out ribbons and their joy they have being Royalty. At the Litchfield show, I showed my own horse Fivel and was in the Royalty ride. Fivel loves the attention he gets when he is at shows and seems to prefer to be pampered all the time. The Litchfield parade is always a blast! Addi and I sat on hay bales and pillows in the back of Jaime s truck. It was so fun! Waving at everyone and meeting new friends in the horse industry. Makes me proud to be Queen of a club that takes so much pride in their horses. Katelynn Lipelt 2017 NMAHA Queen 4
