The Aggies came out sluggish in the first game and hit a negative.029 in the opening game as Utah raced out to a 1-0 lead with a 15-8 win. USU slowly got going in the second game and eventually evened the match at one game apiece as the Aggies hit.200 to win the second game 15-8. The rubber game of the match was a battle that Utah State eventually won 15-12 outhitting the Utes.280 to.159, before putting Utah away in the fouth game with a 15-10 win. Overall, USU hit.181 as a team and held Utah to a.139 hitting percentage. Senior Amy Crosbie had a match-high 19 kills to go along with eight digs and four block assists, while sophomore Rochelle Currier had a season-high 11 kills to go along with 13 digs and three block assists. Junior setter Chelsi Neves did an outstanding job of running the Aggie attack as she had 51 assists to complement seven timely kills, 11 digs and two block assists. Against Boise State, senior middle blocker Denae Mohlman tied a school record for block assists in a three-game match with 11 versus the Broncos as the Aggies posted a three-game win. Utah State raced out to an 8-1 lead in game one and extended that lead to 14-3 before winning the opening game 15-5 as USU held BSU to a.097 hitting percentage, which would be the best game of the match for Boise State offensively. Game two saw the Broncos open a 5-3 advantage over USU before the Aggies rattled off 12 straight points to take a commanding two games to none lead. In the third stanza, Utah State pounced on the Broncos for a quick 11-0 lead before allowing a point. The Aggies then closed the match with four straight points to mark the third straight time that the Aggies have defeated Boise State. Mohlman had a team-high 11 kills and a.556 hitting percentage, while Neves continued to show why she is regarded as one of the best setters in the Big West Conference with three kills, six digs and five blocks to go along with 38 assists. Currier had another solid match for the Aggies with eight kills, eight digs and four block assists, while Crosbie had a team-high nine digs. Utah State hit.259 as a team, while holding its second opponent of the season to a negative hitting percentage. USU also limited UC Santa Barbara to a negative percentage on Sept. 30.

Women's Soccer Contact: Laurie Cannon (435) 797-2066 Utah State's women's soccer team will continue conference play this week as it travels to California for a two-game road trip. USU will play UC Santa Barbara Fri., Oct. 20 at 8 p.m., and Cal Poly Sun., Oct. 22 at 2 p.m. UC Santa Barbara is 6-8-1 this season (1-3 in conference), including a 5-3-1 record at home. The Gauchos are coming off two conference losses over the weekend as they fell to both Idaho (3-1) and Boise State (1-2). All-time Utah State is 2-2 against UCSB. The teams have split the last two meetings as Utah State was victorious in 1998 (3-1), and the Gauchos came out on top in last season's meeting, winning 2-1. Cal Poly (7-6-1 overall, 2-2 in conference) split the past weekend's games shutting out Boise State (1-0) Friday, before falling to Idaho (1-0) in overtime Sunday afternoon. USU is 1-3 all-time against the Mustangs. The Aggies one victory came last season when senior Heather Cox scored the game-winning goal in overtime to put USU on top 4-3.
