The camp will focus on introducing a wide range of popular sports and recreation to young children. There will be varying levels of athletes attending the camp so there will be different skill level progressions and our coaching staff is prepared to work with all kids. Attendants of the camp will be tested on their skills on a daily basis and also enjoy time with friends and new acquaintances. St. Ignatius Bobcat Football Camp June 6-10, 4:00-6:30 PM St. Edward s University Field TBD Registration Camp Fee: See Flyer For players entering 5 th -8 th grade in the 2016-17 school year, this camp is focused on providing participants with general knowledge of the game, as well as learning and improving the skills needed to be successful in flag football (which will also serve them well should they go on to play high school tackle football). Players of all levels will enjoy the camp while improving their individual and team skills. We also focus on the importance of academics, having fun, character, sportsmanship, teamwork, and the responsibility of living out our Catholic values as we represent our school in the AIPL. Head Coach John Vondrak is assisted by former St. I players who were (or are currently) varsity football players at St. Michael s Catholic Academy. Participants should wear t-shirts, shorts, and cleats and bring a full large water bottle and sunscreen. We will have additional water/gatorade onsite. Please indicate player s t-shirt size on registration form as all players will receive a camp t-shirt. Daily Schedule 4:00 4:10 STRETCHING 4:10 4:25 FLAG DRILLS (4 Stations: Pulling Flags and Proper Technique) Two Lines with Rotation at each line. Breaking down steps, proper angles, eyes on belt buckle. 4:25-4:28 WATER BREAK 4:28-4:45 SPECIAL TEAMS (New Special Team Each Day) Understand and run through Kickoff, Kick Return, Punt, Punt Return. Line up groups, explain, and execute. 4:45 5:00 INDIVIDUAL POSITION COACHING (Basic Fundamentals for that Position) Break up into positions and learn basic knowledge and responsibilities. Players rotate and experience different positions. Huddle, huddle break, Get to the line of scrimmage, get set, basic formations, snap counts, decision making, run precise routes, proper blocking, execution, consistency. DEFENSIVE GROUP COACHING (Coverages and Zone responsibilities as a team) Learn to operate as a group against a scout offense and apply techniques learned in individual position sessions. Rotate Players. Being Aggressive, formations, zones, proper angles, staying home, communication, execution. 6:00-6:05 WATER BREAK 6:05-6:30 SCRIMMAGE (With coaching) Break into 4 teams of combined 5/6 and 7/8 players. Two games played simultaneously. Run plays, run defensive coverages, evaluate (emphasis on full participation and FUN). STAFF: Son of a college football player, John Vondrak was a high school quarterback and defensive back. Introduced to flag football in college, he became director of intramural sports at St. Edward s University (SEU), and head of AIPL football officials. He has coached a consistently winning football program at St. I for nine seasons with many of his former players going on to enjoy successful high school football careers. 2012 teams: 5/6 th grade finished undefeated as season champs and were runners up in the AIPL tournament. 7/8 th grade were both regular season and tournament runners up. 2013 teams: 5/6 th grade finished as regular season runners up and lost in the closing minutes of the AIPL title game. After a.500 season, 7/8 th grade advanced to the AIPL semi-final game. A four year starter at quarterback for St. Ignatius, St. Michael s Catholic Academy freshman/jv quarterback, and varsity wide receiver on the 2012 12-1 St. Michael s team, Matt Vondrak was named to the TAPPS All-State and All-District football teams, as well as the Lone Star Sports Network All-Central Texas Team. He was also named TAPPS All-District in basketball for two consecutive seasons. An excellent skills coach with a high football IQ, Sean Vondrak was a four year starter at both St. I (wide receiver and cornerback) and at St. Michael s (wide receiver/cornerback/defensive end). Third in receiving touchdowns, Sean was a two-way starter (wide receiver/defensive end) on last year s SMCA TAPPS 5A district championship team. A four year starter at quarterback for St. I, Gabriel Vondrak led his teams to the playoffs in each of those seasons including two championship games. He was also part of two St. I AIPL championship basketball teams (2011 & 2013). Gabriel was the only freshman selected to last year s SMCA varsity football team and received the coach s award for this year s SMCA freshman basketball team.

The goal of the camp is to learn the sport of volleyball through skills progressions and overall knowledge of the sport. Summer Camp Rules, Policies, and Expectations: St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic School Summer Camps will adopt policies and procedures made by St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic School Parent and Student Handbooks as well as St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic School Athletics Handbook. The camps will also adopt the emergency protocols in the Diocesan Health Manual which contain information on all health related protocols. Communication with Parents: 1. St. Ignatius Camps will communicate with parents via email or phone call. 2. Information is initially made through flyers and information packets. 3. Upon registering a child into the various camps parents must provide pertinent information such as address, phone, and email contacts. 4. Parents are also responsible for providing emergency contacts and a list of people who are allowed to pick up their child in the event that the parent themselves cannot do so. Injuries and Emergency protocols: 1. For minor injuries the child will receive minor care by the coaches on staff. 2. For major or serious injuries, St. Ignatius will reserve the right to call for emergency medical service in the event of a serious or major injury. 3. Parents will be notified by: a. Injury report- Minor injuries b. Phone Call- Major injuries and possibly minor injuries as well. Zero Tolerance Bullying Policy protocols: 1. St. Ignatius Martyr Summer Camps has a zero tolerance policy for bullying. 2. Summer camp director and coaches will follow the bullying policies found in the St. Ignatius Martyr Athletic Handbook. 3. Your child may be asked to leave camp and not return and without a refund. For all other procedures please refer to the Crisis Management Plan attached to the Exemption Form supporting documents. St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic School Camps are not licensed by the State of Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, however, are considered qualified and able to operate as Exempt under Figure: 40 TAC 745.117 as a Short Term Program in the State of Texas.
