The Winnipeg Ringette League is proud to announce... The 6th Annual Boston Pizza / Winnipeg Ringette League U19 All-Star Games and Vickar Automotive Group U14 Skills Competition Monday, February 16, 2015 (Louis Riel Day) @ MTS Iceplex 3969 Portage Ave. at the Perimeter Hwy. Every ringette team is encouraged to attend. Admission is free. Every Winnipeg Ringette League player wearing their team jersey to the event will be entered to win a wind-up for their entire team at Boston Pizza. If you would like to volunteer at this event, email mediarelations@winnipegringette.com. #WRLAllStar

FAQ SECTION: U14 Skills Competition Q: How are the U14 Skills players selected? A: It is the responsibility of each U14 coach to nominate one (1) player from their team for each of the following categories: Fastest Skater Hardest Shot Goaltender Challenge In the past, coaches have used a team practice to run their own skills selection camp with the team winners being the team nominees. The actual skills are available for viewing at www.winnipegringette.com. The rest of the team attends to cheer on their teammates. Q: My daughter plays on a U14 "B2" team, will she be competing against players from the U14 "A" Level? A: Yes. This is a U14 skills competition. There are "A" level players playing on "B2" level teams for a variety of reasons. Over the years U14 "B2" players have won many competitions. Q: What are the U14 players required to bring? A: The U14 who are on the ice need to bring ALL of their equipment, including their jerseys. The U14 players who are in the stands to watch can also wear their team jerseys to be entered to win a Boston Pizza wind up package for their entire team. Q: Is there somewhere to keep the equipment before, during and after the game/skills competition? A: Yes. The players check in and are shown to the proper dressing room. The equipment will be stored just as any other game. Q: What is the cost to attend the event? A: Both the U14 Skills Competition and the U19 All-Star Games are free to attend. Q: This is the first year that I have heard about this event. Does it happen every year? A: Yes -- this year is the 6th annual event. Q: I would like a photo of my daughter. Can I take photos? A: Short answer, yes. But for a better quality photo, Stafford Studios (the official photographer of the WRL) will be there to take introduction photos, team photos and action photos for the event. These photos will be available online a few days after the event. Q: Will there be media coverage? A: Yes. As this is a huge event, all local media have been advised through a press release. Players do not have to consent to any interviews, but parents need to sign a photograph waiver (these will be emailed to the coaches and you can submit them in the check in process), as the players may be shown on TV, print media or for the WRL, Boston Pizza, and the Vickar Automotive Group promotion of the game.

Q: Will the U14 Skills be the only event at MTS Iceplex that night? A: No -- the event moves onto the U19 "B" All-Star Game (scheduled to start at 7 PM) and the U19 "A" All-Star game (scheduled to start at 8:30 PM). There will be 15 players on each team and with the two All-Star games there will be a total of 60 Belle All-Star game players. Q: My daughter plays on a U 16 team, as she has been age advanced from a U 14 team. Is she still eligible to play? A: Yes. Have her U 16 coach submit her name and skill she would like to be considered for. 1) Fastest Skater, 2. Hardest shot or 3) Goalie. The WRL will randomly select one player from each category to represent Team U 14 age advanced. FOR QUESTIONS IN REGARDS TO THE U14 SKILLS COMPETITION: EMAIL asg@winnipegringette.com TO VOLUNTEER AT THIS EVENT: EMAIL mediarelations@winnipegringette.com FAQ SECTION: U19 All-Star Games Q: What is the cost to attend the event? A: Both the U14 Skills Competition and the U19 All-Star Games are free to attend. Q: Is there somewhere to keep the equipment before, during and after the game? A: Yes. The players check in and are shown to the proper dressing room. The equipment will be stored just as any other game. Q: Do all U19 teams get to participate in the All-Star Game? A: Yes. Every team from the U19 "A" loop and every team from the U19 "B" loop will get to send players. Q: Who chooses the players? A: The head coach from each U -19 team is responsible for choosing which of their team's players will play on an All-Star team. Q: As a U19 coach, what are my responsibilities? A: In the near future, you will be emailed a to do list. It will all be explained. Q: Do we bring both sets of jerseys? A: No. Boston Pizza donates the jerseys every year. The players get to keep them as a memento of the evening. Once the players arrive at the event, they will find out which team they will play for and will be given the appropriate jersey. Q: How do you decide jersey size and number? A: On the day of the event it is first come, first serve. (We reserve the right to tweak this a bit based on player size.) Most jerseys are adult large with some XL. They are numbered 2-14 1 & 30 are the goalie cuts.

Q: How many times can a player play in the All Star game? A: ONCE. As a U19 coach you can choose any player who has NOT played on a WRL All-Star team before. We have an alumni list and will confirm rookie status before we roster the player. The WRL suggests not choosing a first year Belle for an All-Star team if possible, as they will have more chances to play in the future. Q: Who will coach the teams and how is this decided? A: The Head Coaches, for the All Star Games will be chosen by the league. The assistants will be chosen by the head coach. Q: How many games are there? A: There will be the U19 "B" All-Star Game (scheduled to start at 7 PM) and the U19 "A" All- Star Game (scheduled to start at 8:30 PM). Q: How many players are on each team? A: There are 15 players on each team (including 2 goalies). With both All-Star games combined, this translates to 60 players. Q: This is the first year that I have heard about this. Does this happen every year? A: Yes -- this year is the 6th annual event. Q: I would like a photo of my daughter. Can I take photos? A: Short answer, yes. But for a better quality photo, Stafford Studios (the official photographer of the WRL) will be there to take introduction photos, team photos and action photos for the event. These photos will be available online a few days after the event. Q: Will there be media coverage? A: Yes. As this is a huge event, all local media have been advised through a press release. Players do not have to consent to any interviews, but parents (if the player is under 18, or player if she is 18 or over) need to sign a photograph waiver (these will be emailed to the coaches and you can submit them in the check in process), as the players may be shown on TV, print media or for the WRL, Boston Pizza, and the Vickar Automotive Group promotion of the game. Q: Will the All-Star Games be the only event at MTS Iceplex that night? A: No -- the event starts out with the WRL U14 Skills Competition. There will be three representatives from every U 14 team in the WRL in each of the three categories. Q: What is the timeline? A: The evening starts out with the U 14 Skills (5 PM), followed by the U19 "B" game and then the U19 "A" game. More details will be sent out closer to game day. In the past, the U19 "B" starts about 7:00 P.M. and the U19 "A" at about 8:30 P.M. Q: What are the U 19 players required to bring? A: Players participating in either All-Star Game are required to bring all of their equipment except for their jerseys, which are generously donated by Boston Pizza. FOR QUESTIONS IN REGARDS TO THE U19 ALL-STAR GAMES: EMAIL asg@winnipegringette.com TO VOLUNTEER AT THIS EVENT: EMAIL mediarelations@winnipegringette.com

FAQ SECTION: Fans Q: I coach a ringette team and I would like to bring the team to watch the entire event. Is this possible? A: Absolutely. The WRL strongly encourages family, friends and entire teams to attend. Many teams have used this as a "Team Bonding Event" in the past. There will be also be activities and contests in the lobby during the event, such as a ringette shooting game to win some great Boston Pizza prizes all night. The event will be "rush" seating, so entire teams will be able to sit together. Q: Will there be any games or prizes other than on the ice? A: Yes. A few different ones. Every WRL player who wears their team jersey to the event will be entered to win a Boston Pizza wind up for their entire team. (You do not have to be in attendance to win, as all winning numbers will be posted online.) 50/50 draw with one prize for the entire night. (Winning number also posted online.) Manitoba Lottery licence: LGA 347 SOR "Score For Four" game set up in the common area around the arena bowl. It is a Boston Pizza shooter tutor set up for contestants to take their chance at shooting a ringette ring at a goal to "Score for Four" and win a Boston Pizza Dinner for four. (Winning number also posted online.) Q: I would like us to volunteer at this event. Is this possible? A: Of course -- we are always in need of volunteers!
