A literal walk-off win completes sweep of Stone Crabs On April 27, the Fort Myers Miracle picked up a 2-1 victory over the Charlotte Stone Crabs in unconventional come-from-behind fashion. Trailing 1-0 going to the bottom of the eighth, Angel Morales delivered an RBI double to tie the game. Tied 1-1 in the ninth, Charlotte reliever Jacob Partridge had serious control issues. Partridge walked four Miracle hitters in the ninth to force in the game-winning run. Morales was at the plate for the fourth and final base on balls as the Miracle, literally, walked off a 2-1 win. The series sweep of the Stone Crabs was the second of the season and the Miracle are now 6-0 against I-75 rival Charlotte. Miracle among league s best defensively Fort Myers defense has been key to the success of the Miracle in the early part of the season. The Miracle have the best fielding percentage in the Florida State League at.983. In 901 total chances, the Miracle have committed just 15 errors in 23 games. Fort Myers has turned 23 double plays and the catchers have allowed just four passed balls. Due to injuries, the Miracle have forced a couple of players into non-natural positions. With Lance Ray (back) and Michael Kvasnicka (wrist) on the disabled list, manager Doug Mientkiewicz, a former MLB gold glover, has used infielder A.J. Pettersen in left and utility man Andy Leer in right field. Leer, since starting with the Miracle in 2012, has played eight positions in a Fort Myers jersey including pitching a scoreless inning last year. Infielder Stephen Wickens has also played both right and left field. Leachman steps into lineup, performs well Spending one game in right field, one at first base and two as designated hitter, Drew Leachman has been a productive bat in the lineup since his call-up on April 25. Leachman has gone 4-for-14 (.286) in his first four games with two RBI and a walk. The native of Mobile Ala. played just six games with Cedar Rapids (A) before earning the promotion to Fort Myers. Michael comes off the disabled list swinging The Minnesota Twins 2011 first round pick, 30th overall, Levi Michael returned to the Fort Myers Miracle after battling an early season shoulder injury. Michael was activated off the disabled list on April 25 and promptly tripled in his first two at-bats of the 2013 campaign. Levi is expected to play the majority of his games at shortstop. FSL s top two offenses face off at Bright House Field The Miracle come into tonight s game two in the series with the Clearwater Threshers with the second-best team batting average in the Florida State League at.292. The Threshers currently lead the FSL at.293. The Miracle are first in runs scored (143), total bases (383), home runs (27), runs batted in (126), sacrifice flies (11), slugging percentage (.475) and on-base percentage (.360). The Threshers have the most hits (239) and doubles (55). April 30 at Clearwater Threshers 7:00 p.m. - Bright House Field Probable Starters FTM - D.J.
