CLUB NEWSLETTER MAY 2016 Well Done to our B Grade Men Premiers!!!! We would like to congratulate all players for an amazing summer season 2015/16. This is the first year we have had representation in every age group as well as the B Men and B Women teams. Out of our 7 teams, (U12 mixed, U14 mixed, U16 Boys, U17 Girls, U18 Boys, B Men and B Women) we were very proud that 5 made it to the semi-finals. Our B Women made it to the grand final just missing out on the elusive prize 2-4. Congratulations to our B Men team for making Premiers this year winning 5-4. Please jot this in your diary! ***** Our pre-season BBQ is planned for 23 rd October! More details on page 4 ***** Training will recommence on Thursday 28th July at 6:30pm. AGM & Committee A quick AGM was held prior to the evening commencing with a brief overview of the year that was and what we have to look forward to for the New Year. The committee was re-elected with two new members welcomed to the team - Peter Cleary and Carmine DiCesare. Water Polo SA constitution revamps Water Polo SA is in the process of re-looking at the Constitution to make it more up to date and representative of the needs of the members. It has been a very long process where they have tried to incorporate the best practices of other sports and are still consulting with legal and sporting representatives. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or email admin@easternsaintswaterpolo.com 2nd Term Training U12 & U14: As St Peter's is in its final stages of Thermal Heating upgrade, we have once again teamed up with Vikings for any Junior U12, U14 player who would like to train this term. Please email if you have any questions Training is at 4pm at the Adelaide Aquatic Centre (North Adelaide) You are welcome to attend from this Wednesday (25th May) Emma Thomas and Matt Martin will attend when possible as club reps.
Official training returns Thursday 28th July from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. We will be trying something new this year in preparation for Summer Season. All players are asked to attend at 6:30pm. U12's and new players will be trained in the smaller pool. This is a great opportunity to invite friends who would like to try water polo who have not played before. U14's and above including seniors will be taken through a fitness and endurance training session between 6:30pm - 7:30pm with a scratch match from 7:30pm onwards. New senior players can attend the fitness session from 6:30pm and get training on game skills in the smaller pool once juniors have finished. Many parents have indicated that they would prefer to pay all fees up front instead of trying to find $5.00 each week for training and games held at St Peters. We are formulating a new structure to the club and game fees this year and will advise you as soon as details are finalised. New Season, New Club Towel! This year we are introducing the newest member in our club uniform, The Trusty Yellow Towel!!! Some lucky players received one at the awards presentation, like our B Women team for making it to the finals. The reversed club towel went out to all of our B&F and award winners. Cost of towel is $40 and must be pre-ordered at this stage.
Our club has undertaken some fundraising activities this year to assist with the purchase of new caps, balls and contribute towards the growth of our club. The two activities we have committed to are participation in: People s Choice Community Raffle Entertainment Book So far we have raised $350. Eastern Saints is very proud of all our South Australian Water Polo representatives who have recently competed in their age group tournaments! This April, Jack and Llewy competed at the National 18&U competitions in Perth. In March we saw our Under 14s go away to the Club National Championships. Nic and Sam represented the Adelaide Jets and Marcello the Adelaide Stealth in Queensland, whilst Molly, Emma and Tahlia represented Adelaide Jets in Albury/Wodonga.
