Thiem is trying to become the first top seed to win the Buenos Aires title since Rafael Nadal in 2015. Thiem, the current World No. 5, holds a 2-0 head-to-head lead over World No. 51 Bedene in ATP Tour-level matches, with their last meeting taking place last month in Doha with two tight sets. So far this week, Thiem has not lost a set in four matches.
