UTAH JAZZ (4-2) 2015-16 CLEVELAND CAVALIERS GAME NOTES OVERALL GAME # 8 HOME GAME # 5 CAVS QUICK FACTS The Cleveland Cavaliers, winners of six straight games, continue their four-game homestand tonight when they take on the Utah Jazz for the first time this season. The Cavs have won four of the last five meetings against the Jazz, including the last three at Quicken Loans Arena. The Wine and Gold are a perfect 4-0 at The Q this season and hold a 24-1 mark at home since Jan. 19 of last season. Over that 25-game stretch at The Q, the Cavaliers are outscoring opponents by 12.0 points per game (105.0-93.0). Cleveland is 15-1 in its last 16 games against Western Conference opponents (1-0 this season), winning by an average of 12.5 points vs. the West in that span (109.6-97.1). The Wine and Gold have also won eight straight games over the West at The Q. The Cavaliers picked up their 6 th straight win after a 101-97 victory over Indiana on Sunday. In the win, the Cavs had 25 assists to 10 turnovers, while also holding the edge in rebounds (48-47), points in the paint (48-36) and fast break points (13-9). Cleveland has had more assists and rebounds than the opponent in all seven games so far. Their assists mark (26.1 apg) ranks 3 rd in the NBA. MILESTONE WATCH: Kevin Love is two three-pointers away from 600 for his career. Love, who is averaging 11.8 rebounds for his career, would become just the 2 nd player in NBA history to average at least 10.0 rebounds and make 600 three-pointers, joining Larry Bird (10.0 rpg, 649 3FGM). Tristan Thompson has pulled down at least eight rebounds in every game this season and leads all NBA bench players in rebounds per game (10.0). In Sunday s win over Indiana, Thompson had a season-high 16 points on 7-8 (.875) shooting from the field, eight rebounds and two steals in 30 minutes. With his third offensive rebound of the day, he passed Phil Hubbard (1,051) for the 7 th -most offensive rebounds in Cavaliers history. In Sunday s win, LeBron James surpassed Jerry West (9,016) for 19 th place on the NBA s all-time field goals made list. He currently has 9,019 field goals in his regular season career after making 10 field goals and pouring in a team-high 29 points, six rebounds and four assists in 35 minutes against the Pacers. James has scored at least 20 points in six of the team s seven outings and is one of only two NBA players this season with averages of at least 24.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.0 steals. Kevin Love is one double-double shy of reaching 300 for his career and can become the 11 th active player to accomplish that feat (Duncan, Garnett, Howard, Gasol, Randolph, Nowitzki, Paul, Jefferson, Lee, Bosh). LeBron James is right behind Love at 292 double-doubles for his career. Coming into tonight s contest, Kevin Love has notched three straight double-doubles and leads the Cavs with five double-doubles on the season. Love has also registered a double-double in 12 of his last 14 games against Utah. After Sunday s win over the Pacers, Love is the first Cavalier to tally 22 points, 19 rebounds and three blocks since Jan. 11, 2008 when LeBron James had 31 points, 19 rebounds and three blocks vs. Charlotte. Over the last four games, Mo Williams is averaging 17.3 points on.500 (28-56) shooting, 5.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds in 33.0 minutes. Matthew Dellavedova dished out a game-high nine assists on Sunday and is now averaging 6.1 assists this season (3 rd among all bench players). When scoring 100 points, Cleveland is 5-0 this season. They have also won 33 of the last 34 regular season games when topping the century mark, which includes a perfect 26-0 record at The Q. He also won the Kia NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month award twice last season, increasing his NBA record total to 29 times winning the award. James also won the Eastern Conference Player of the Week award three times last year (Nov. 10-16, Nov. 24-30 & Jan. 19-25). His most recent one was the 48th time James has earned Player of the Week accolades in his career, the most in NBA history. It also marked the 29th time James has earned POW honors as a member of the Cavaliers. Most Player of the Week Selections in NBA History Most Player of the Month Selections in NBA History 1. It marked the first time Cleveland won a game by a double-digit margin after trailing by at least 15 points since November 3, 2009, when the Cavs overcame an 18-point deficit and beat Washington by a score of 102-90. (Elias Sports Bureau) FIRST DOWN: In the first quarter of the Cavs 106-76 win over Memphis on Oct. 28, Cleveland outscored the Grizzlies 26-10. Cleveland allowed the Grizzlies to only make 4 of 21 shots from the floor, a shooting percentage of 19 percent. Since the NBA introduced the 24-second clock in 1954, that's the fewest points that any team has scored in the first quarter of its season opener, played at home. The previous record was held by the Celtics, who were held to 12 points by Chicago in their season opener, played in Boston, on Halloween night in 1997. (Elias Sports Bureau) The 10 points allowed in the opening period was their lowest since April 12, 2009 when the Cavs gave up just nine points to the Boston Celtics in the first quarter of play. Cleveland also went on to beat the Grizzlies by 30 points that night, which was their third road win by at least 30 points since February 20, 2015. Since then, the rest of the NBA has had just three total road wins by at least 30 points. Prior to February 20, 2015, the Cavs had just two 30-point road wins in their entire franchise history.
