ARBA YOUTH DEPARTMENT 2010 YOUTH CONTEST RESULTS

Greetings. Another ARBA Convention has come and gone. The Youth Contests this year were well attended and highly competitive. Elsewhere you will find the list of award winners of all of the youth contests. What follows here is a summary of participants in each of the contests. Achievement Senior 30 Intermediate 19 Junior 19 Management Unlimited 25 Average 21 Limited 20 Judging Senior 95 Intermediate 87 Junior 46 Breed ID Senior 110 Intermediate 96 Junior 60 Royalty Lord 3 Lady 6 Prince 9 Princess 16 Duke 15 Duchess 30 King 8 Queen 41 Educational Art 31 Crafts 48 Writing 21 Display 14 Game 11 Photography 95 Poster 45 Wood/Metal 6 In addition to these individual contests, there were 21 Senior, 16 Intermediate and 8 Junior teams that competed in the Team Judging Contest. In the Team Breed ID Contest there were 23 Senior, 15 Intermediate and 11 Junior teams. These contests would not happen without the generous support of many, many individuals. The ARBA Board has helped shape these contests and their assistance is invaluable in a number of ways. This year several of the board members were even able to help with scoring some of the contests as well as interviewing royalty contestants. The convention host committee put in a great deal of time to coordinate the over 200 animals that are used in these contests. Throughout much of Saturday, judges come and place the classes used in the judging contests. Each day of the contests, a veritable army of volunteers work to make sure that the contests proceed as smoothly as possible and to help score the contests, and some evaluating the applications in advance of the convention. There are many adult coordinators and parents that help these young people learn the knowledge and skills necessary to compete at the highest level. This is certainly not an exhaustive list, but to all of those who help make these you contests a success, thank you so very much for doing all that you do. Finally, a word of thanks and appreciation goes out to all of the contestants that participated. These exceptional young people give up a large part of their convention time to participate in the many activities that accompany the youth contests. You need not be around them long to see that there is a great deal of promise for the future of our ARBA. As always, we come together as friends, both old and new, and share together the highs and lows, the hits and misses, the wonderful and the strange.
