Simon is visiting Alaska. He is going on an Alaskan wildlife adventure. Simon wants to see an Alaskan Moose. Simon is traveling into the Alaskan wilderness.

This adventure will be diffi cult. Simon prepares for the trip. Simon wears hiking boots and a warm coat. He packs a map and a compass. Simon is ready for his adventure.

Simon starts his adventure. He wants to fi nd a moose. Simon hikes through the woods. He sees a fl ower in the woods. This fl ower is called a Forget- Me-Not. The Forget-Me-Not is the Alaskan state fl ower.

Simon hikes to the top of a hill. He looks for a moose. Instead, he sees a bird fl ying in the sky. This bird is a Bald Eagle. The Bald Eagle has a yellow beak and a white head. Whoa! It swoops down and catches a fi sh.

Simon hikes down the hill. He comes to a river. Simon sees an animal that is big, brown and hairy. Is it a moose? GROWL! Uh, oh! It is a Brown Bear! Bears are dangerous. Simon quickly leaves.

Simon walks next to the river. He sees large rocks in the river. Simon steps on the rocks and crosses the river. Simon sees a fi sh jumping out of the water. The fi sh swims past Simon s feet. This fi sh is a salmon.

Simon hikes through more woods. Simon sees an animal with antlers. Moose have antlers. Is it a moose? Simon moves for a closer look. No! It is a Caribou. The Caribou is much smaller than a moose.

Simon is about to leave the woods. His adventure is almost over. Simon is sad. He did not see a moose. Wait! What is that?

It has antlers! It is big, brown and hairy. Is it a moose? Yes! It is a moose! Simon has fi nally found a moose.

Simon stays very quiet. He does not want to scare the moose away. Simon watches the moose eat. The moose is eating grass and plants. A herbivore is an animal that only eats grass and plants. The moose is a herbivore.

Simon follows the moose out of the woods. He sees the moose swim across a small lake. Moose have long, strong legs. The moose s legs make it a good swimmer. Simon waves goodbye to the moose.

Simon has fi nished his Alaskan adventure. Simon is happy he saw a moose. He learned a lot about the moose and other Alaskan animals. But, the moose is his new favorite animal!
