He holds an Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering and accreditation as a Senior Road Safety Auditor; Roadworks Traffic Manager (RTM) and Advanced Worksite Traffic Manager (AWTM). He has previously held leadership roles within major engineering firms in WA, including Sinclair Knight Merz where he was Team Leader of their Transport Planning group, and a Project Director. With over 12 years experience in the traffic engineering industry, Andrew is proficient in project management, traffic impact assessments, road safety auditing, worksite traffic management, technical drafting and vehicle path analysis.

our services We enjoy tackling challenging projects and assisting clients to find the right solution for their problem. We provide a full range of transportation engineering services relating to traffic movement and design, including assessments and auditing. With industry-specific software and technology at our disposal, we can provide a range of solutions to meet our clients needs and expectations. TRANSPORT ASSESSMENTS & STATEMENTS Transport assessments and statements are the basis for all significant developments. To obtain approvals for planning and construction, a traffic impact assessment is essential. These can be as small as a couple of pages for a small development, to a major report. We conduct assessments no matter the size, and complete our assessments in accordance with the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) guidelines. Should the assessment require the inclusion of traffic modelling, we have an ongoing relationship with Urbsol which ensures we will be able to assist with this too. CARPARKS Most larger developments require the inclusion of a car park in the design: be it basement; multi-deck or at grade. We are well versed in current Australian Standards and carry extensive experience in assessing car park designs to ensure compliance, or to highlight areas that may require improvement as part of the design process. We can also assist with working towards solutions to any transport related issues that are raised as part of the design process. ROAD SAFETY AUDITING AND ADVICE Road safety is an important part of any road design process. As roads get increasingly busy and congested the likelihood of incidents increases. At GAF Traffic, we understand the importance of completing Road Safety Audits (RSAs) at all stages of design and operation of our roads. With a background in road design, traffic engineering, traffic management and road safety, we are able to help provide direction toward a safe road design for you or your clients. We have Main Roads WA (MRWA) accreditation in road safety auditing, and we can assist you complete Road Safety Audits (RSAs) specific to your design objectives and existing road situations. We also have experience with worksite traffic management and are able to bring those skills to the table in planning for new and upgrade works involving live road scenarios. Our auditing services include: staged auditing of a road design (single or multiple audits); road safety advice throughout the design and/or construction phases; one-off audits on existing roads and/or traffic management; Our RSAs are completed using the Austroads Guide to Road Safety Part 6: Road Safety Audit as the locally and nationally accepted standard. While we recommend getting a road safety consultant involved in your project as early as possible, we can also provide review of design independent of a RSA at any stage.

VEHICLE PATH ANALYSIS Vehicle path assessment is a fundamental part of any major design project. From review of car park accessibility, to loading dock, and access road design, vehicle path analysis helps to design areas that are suitable for their vehicle travel purpose. With standard templates for parking review and road design we can assess most designs for their suitability and accessibility. We are also able to replicate custom vehicles for high/wide load assessment, particularly for mining operations and movement of large indivisible loads. DRAFTING SERVICES With previous experience in civil and road design drafting, we specialise in car park and access design and conceptual plans for traffic engineering applications, including cross sections and layout plans. We can produce concept designs for consideration at early stages of your project to help overcome issues that might arise later, such as poorly designed carparks that have to fit in and around structural elements that are already in place. We can also provide general drafting from updating existing drawings through to design detailing of outputs from third-party 3D design packages. traffic management planning Any construction or maintenance activity on or near a road requires a traffic management plan to outline how the developer plans to protect their workers and road users. We have accredited Roadworks Traffic Managers who can provide review and advice on the production of traffic management planning for complex and general situations. We can produce generic traffic management plans that meet the broader needs of our clients, allowing them to proceed with the work without having to reproduce plans each time. For more complex projects, we can produce site specific traffic management plans. All our plans are produced in close cooperation with the client to provide a quality solution that meets both the client s needs and the requirements of the approving authority.

our projects TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT Road traffic management review and endorsement of various traffic management plans, WA (2014/15) WARP Group Road traffic management review of various complex traffic management plans for work and event sites within the Perth metropolitan area as required by Main Roads WA (MRWA). Traffic management plans included complex intersections, high volume roads, signalised intersections and temporary barrier implementation at events. Perth International Arts Festival Giants event The Giants traffic management was developed by WARP Group in consultation with many other stakeholders. GAF Traffic provided the Roadworks Traffic Manager review and endorsement of the final plan prior to implementation. This included site visits for the entire route in the lead up to the event, and discussions with the plan producers to provide the best outcome for event-goers and event staff/volunteers. In addition to this, GAF Traffic also provided a tight turn around traffic management plan to facilitate the movement of The Giants from their staging area, south of Perth, to their starting locations in the CBD. Without this plan, there was a significant risk that the The Giants would be late, causing major schedule delays. Ride to Conquer Cancer 2014 The Ride to Conquer Cancer is an annual cycling event commencing and finishing in the inner suburbs of Perth. The event route takes riders over 200 kilometres; in 2014 the route was via Pinjarra. GAF Traffic were responsible for the road traffic management review and endorsement of the proposed traffic management plan produced by WARP Group, including a drive through of the entire 200 plus kilometre event route, review of potential hazards and road safety issues, as well as management of the impacts on traffic movements and diversion. Western Power Fremantle Fibre Cable Installation Traffic Management Plan, Fremantle, WA (2014) Underground Services/Shawmac All works on roads require the development of a traffic management plan to manage traffic (including vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and public transport) around and through the worksite. This project involved the production of a complex traffic management plan for the laying of over three kilometres of Western Power fibre communication cable adjacent to local and distributor roads, including heavy haulage routes to/from the port. Complex arrangements and management of traffic flows had to be considered, whilst still allowing access to properties and pathways. Due to topography and narrow roads, consideration had to be given to how/where to divert traffic and pedestrians during work hours. GAF Traffic produced the traffic management plan and traffic control diagrams that allowed these works to be undertaken safely. The plan that GAF produced for this project helped in obtaining permission, from Main Roads WA and the local council, to undertake the works.

traffic engineering Senior Traffic Technical Officer Secondment, South Perth, WA (2013-14, 2015) City of South Perth The City of South Perth had a need for a temporary Traffic Technical officer to cover a staff member on leave. GAF Traffic was able to provide a suitable person for this role. In this role GAF Traffic provided support in various aspects of the day to day operation of the City s Engineering Department. During the initial period the secondee was responsible for the production of parking plans and supporting documentation; review of traffic management plans; investigation of technical queries relating to road safety, traffic management and parking issues; concept design for road upgrades and production of scoping documents and briefing papers; and support in the production of Blackspot funding submissions. In 2015, through our on-going relationship with the City, GAF Traffic was able to provide a secondee to assist the City when the need arose. This secondee replaced a departing member of the team, requiring full use and integration into the City s systems and processes and ground level interaction with the City s clients and customers. Some of the tasks required included, review of potential Blackspots within the City and preparation for Blackspot funding submissions, review of road safety issues raised by residents, updating of parking plans and review of traffic management plans and implementation but groups working on the City s road network. Capital Works Program Design and Documentation (2014) - City of South Perth Each year the City of South Perth undertakes a capital works program to rehabilitate and improve its road network. GAF Traffic assisted the City with the design development, drafting, and documentation for a number of road rehabilitation projects within the City. This required that GAF Traffic team to review the current condition of the road and determine any potential constraints to its rehabilitation. Following the initial site visit, draft/concept designs were produced and provided to the City for review and comment. These designs were then finalised along with the City s project management documentation to allow the City to progress them to completion. Freshwater Car Park Swept Path Review (2013) i3 consultants WA Car park design is a key part of any development. In some cases where sites are constrained, simple application of the Australian Standard for parking does not result in a usable car park. To assist in the development of parking areas in a constrained environment swept path analysis was completed for a proposed multi-story development in accordance with the Australian Standard for off street parking (AS2890.1). Review of specific parking bays with B99, B85 and custom vehicle profiles were requested and provided with AutoTrack (now AutoDesk Vehicle Tracking) movement paths and displayed in figures for insertion into the client s traffic report. contact us We work on projects in Perth, and throughout Western Australia.
