Supplies: DecoArt Gel Stain Maple #70135 Soft Cloth DecoArt Acrylic Spray Sealer/Finisher Matte #70836 Brushes: Papillon by the Artist s Club Glaze Wash, size ¾ #20102 Script Liner, size 6/0 #20138 Liner, size 1 #20147; size 2 #20148 Shader, size 8 #20129; size 12 #20131 Preparation: Apply the Maple Gel Stain with a brush to the entire tower inside and outside including the drawers. I used a ¾ Glaze Wash brush doing one side at a time and wiping it down with a soft cloth before it dried. Let dry. Spatter the entire outside of the tower and the front of the drawers with Burnt Umber. Let dry. With Black Green paint the edges of the sides, the top and bottom edge and the divider between the drawers. Transfer the pattern for the oval on the top and base it in with Black Green. Let dry. Transfer the patterns for the fish and the two flies. Painting Instructions: Grey Feather Fly Black Green Using your 6/0 Script Liner base in the hook Cranberry Wine Continue with your size 1 Liner and wrap the hook leaving small a space between each wrap. Saffron Yellow- Continue with the 6/0 Script Liner and fill in the spaces between the Cranberry Wine. Zinc Pull in a fine line down the center of the grey feather 1
Grey Sky Pull in a fine line down the center of the grey feather just above the zinc line. Using your 0/6 Script Liner pull out fine lines to develop the feather from both sides of the middle core. Place a float along the top of the core line. Zinc Place a float along the bottom of the core line Zinc, Grey Sky With your liner pull out feathers from each side of the grey feather. Continue to add feathers on the end near the curve of the hook and some coming from behind the wrapped part of the hook. Lamp Black Float a shade along the right side of the wrapped hook. Add the fishing line at the top of the hook Saffron Yellow Highlight the center of the yellow section of the hook Yellow Feather Fly Lamp Black Base in the hook Cranberry Wine, Lamp Black, Grey Sky Using your liner pull out lines (feathers) from the left side of the hook. Tangelo Orange Pull a fine line down the center of the feather on the right Tangelo Orange, Orange Flame Using these two colors pull fine lines to develop the feather Lamp Black Pull a fine line down the center of the feather next to the Tangelo Orange one Grey Sky With your 0/6 Script Liner place a highlight on each hook on the right side of the circle where the line attaches, on the curved part of the hook and the very end of the hook. Saffron Yellow Place a fine line next to the Lamp Black one on the left side. Add a few strokes of wrapping at the top of the feather. Lamp Black Add the fishing line at the top Rainbow Trout Light Buttermilk Base in the entire fish Hauser Light Green Float a wide shade along the top of the fish Hauser Dark Green Place a float over the above float keeping it smaller Light Buttermilk + White (1:1) Float a highlight along the bottom of the fish Sand Place a back to back float down the center of the fish. Keeping it wide. Coral Blush + Razzle Berry (4:1) Place a back 2
to back float down the center of the fish and lightly add the color in the mouth Burlap Base in all of the fins Saffron Yellow Base in the eye Cocoa Float a shade at the base of each fin Burnt Umber Deepen the above float keeping it smaller. Pull in the lines on the fins Black Green Add the very fine dots on the lines and on the body Light Buttermilk Float a highlight on the end of each fin Lamp Black Outline the eye and add the center Black Green Add a very narrow float to establish the gills Grey Sky With your #2 liner, add the line around the oval. Finishing: Finish with several light coats of DecoArt Acrylic Spray Sealer/Finisher Matte. 3
