NUR e-newsletter Vol. 10 Issue 4 April 2018 April 2018

Dear Nobles: Dates to Remember April 11-14 Carnival April 18 Delaware Room Dinner April 19 NUR Dines Out (see attached flyer) April 20 Bingo (see attached flyer) April 26-28 Spring MASA April 28 NUR Shrine Bowling Fundraiser (see attached flyer) Old Man Winter didn t give up during the month of March, holding spring off for several weeks. I thought all the white stuff was over, hopefully that was the last of winter and spring will continue. We are well under way for our fundraising goals. We held two successful cash Bingos. If you didn t make it out on St. Patrick s Day you missed a wonderful event with the opening act of Celtic dancers, Rick s, our DJ from Sea Witch, performance and a packed house for Light s Out Vocals, a Ricky Valli tribute band. A very big thank you goes out to Fundraising Chairman Jeff Lank and co-chairman Ill. Sir Ed Wright for putting together the team of dedicated nobles and ladies to make this event so successful. As a reminder, lottery tickets are still available, get your tickets to join several Nobles that have already won. If you would like Lottery tickets, please contact Ill. Sir Curt Cole or the office. Another ongoing goal is to boost membership for the Shrine. Our Membership committee chairman Chief Rabban Ricky Swalm has developed an excellent and informative video showcasing the best of Shriners including Nur. So far, his team and him have been around to several Blue Lodges promoting Shriners. If your Blue Lodge would like a night to enlighten their brothers and promote another Masonic organization, please contact Noble Chief Rabban to schedule a night. Lastly, Noble Dave Wheeler is out on the trail and has hiked all the way to the southern part of North Carolina. He has posted part of his progress on a website specific for this event. We need all our Nobles to support and promote this event not only in our Lodges but throughout our community and other states. We will hold the first work session on April 14 th to clean and work on the building. There is plenty to do around the building and property. We could use all the help we can get. It s time to take pride in our building and be proud of being a Shriner. Mark your calendars for the next fundraising events for the month of April. The Shrine will host its first carnival in the last 5 years being held starting at 6p.m. on April 11-14. Then on April 28, Noble Ruben Kelly has worked out a fantastic opportunity with Bowlerama. One of the owners of Bowlerama had her granddaughter treated at Shriner s Hospital of Philadelphia and is willing to donate half of all the proceeds from the night s event to Nur Shrine. Both events are open to the public and are magnificent events for families. Also, we have our next upcoming parade in Dover for Dover Days on May 4 th and the following day will be at Dover Downs for the NASCAR race. The race is special because of the Shriner s Hospital sponsored car will be racing that day by David Ragan. More information will be coming in the next few weeks regarding tickets and events of the day. None of these successes could have happened without all the efforts by our nobles and ladies. We are making a difference and let s keep up the splendid work! Yours in the faith, Joe McAleese Potentate 2018

Let's get Spring started with a Carnival! NUR Shrine Carnival is coming April 11th. Discounted Tickets are available ONLINE at www.nurcarnival.com through April 10th.

Car Club News Spring is here and we are getting ready for another year of parades, parades and more parades. Our club is still relatively new, and we are looking for new members. You don t have to have a fancy car, an antique or a trailer queen. Anything will do (even if you don t have a car you are welcome). During the year we will also participate in various NUR functions, cruise-in for dinners, and hopefully a public car show. So gentlemen as they say, Start Your Engines, and get motoring over to NUR to become a part of the car club. Tom Dilworth, President Tdil1@aol.com
