Beach, Swimming & Sunbathing The large public beach, Playa Espadilla, is on the road just before the exit of the National Park. It offers beach chairs, umbrellas, surfboards, boogie boards and snorkel rentals. Gift and souvenir stands are numerous along the beach. There are several small restaurants located in front of the beaches. Manuel Antonio National Park has 2 beautiful white-sand beaches for a more private day in the sun. There are no public food vendors in the park, so you must take your own supplies. Beaches outside of the park are free; inside the park costs $10 per person and it is closed on Mondays. All beaches can have strong currents or riptides, so please swim with caution and pay attention to the lifeguards. Do not leave your personal items unattended when at the beach. (Recommend camera, sunscreen, towel and small amounts of money.)
Bird Watching This activity is available from many of the local tours. (Recommend hiking shoes, binoculars, camera and sunscreen.) Butterfly and Reptile Gardens See more than 20 species of butterflies on this guided one-hour tour. Tours from 8:00am to 4:00pm daily, leaving every hour. $15pp for butterflies, or $20pp with reptiles. Night tour ($35pp) lasts 2 hours and must be reserved for 5:30pm. (Recommend sunscreen, hiking shoes or sandals, long pants, insect repellent, binoculars & camera.) Canopy Zipline Tour Canopy Safari: Price $70pp o Departures: 7:30am and.10:30am o Services: Located around 45 minutes outside of Quepos in the mountains, the area is surrounded by beautiful rainforest and includes 9 zip lines, 2 repelling, 1 Tarzan swing and 1 suspended bridge. Snorkel and Dolphin Watch Planet Dolphin (Catamaran): Price $75pp o Departures: 8:30am and 1:30pm (departures change in low season). As your boats cruises through the delta swamps, it is common to view white-faced monkeys, caimans, boa constrictors, crocodiles and even the rare silky anteater. Tropical birds are abundant. Manuel Antonio National Park Tour Private Local Certified Guides: Price $43pp Manuel Antonio Expeditions: Price $39pp or $50pp for private tours Rancho Los Tucanes: Price $43pp o Departures: 7:20am and 12:30pm. o Services: Home to over 100 species of mammals and 200 species of birds, Manuel Antonio is the most visited park in Costa Rica. Just off shore are 12 islands that serve as excellent seabird sanctuaries. Punta Cathedral (Cathedral Point) was once an island but over time has become connected to the land by a sandy belt known as a Tombolo, a protected nesting site for the Brown Booby. This is also where you can see dolphins and the occasional pod of migratory whales. The 2 white sand beaches are main attractions as well as the surrounding mountain views. There are guides available for hire just outside the National Park or we can contract guides for small groups or private park tours. Tours last approximately 4 hours. The park is open from 7:00am until 4:00pm daily and is closed on Monday. Tourist admission is $10 USD. o Includes: Transportation, guide, park entrance fee, drinks and snacks. Experience a bird s eye view of the area from above. Shorter tours fly over only the Quepos area, while the longer tours fly to or all the way throughout the park. (Recommend sunscreen and camera.) Rating is Difficult, age restrictions required. Departure is 7:30am -- ¾ day tour: A 3-hour rafting trip of the Savegre River with class II & III rapids; there are great swimming holes and a large variety of birds to be seen on this trip. Rating: Moderate to challenging, possible age restrictions. Departure is 7:30am -- full day tour: The fun lasts longer on this full-day 5 ½-hour guided rafting trip with class II & III rapids. Prices range from $650 - $1500, depending on the boat size, length of trip and how many persons. o Service: Full day is recommended for better fishing, but 1/2 day excursions are also available. Please ask for present fishing conditions. Yoga Classes: There are several places offering yoga in the area. Please consult for times and prices, as it changes throughout the year. Please note: Casa del Toro works as an intermediary for the local tour operators. Though efforts have been made to carefully screen all tours before being recommended to our guests, we cannot be responsible for how the tour operators conduct their tours. We welcome all guest feedback in order to help us maintain the highest standards of safety and customer service. Prices and tour times are subject to change, so it is important to reserve the tour in advance with our house manager. Please remember, you will need to be waiting at the agreed upon pickup zone at your specified pick up time. Guests not on time could possibly miss their tour. Missed tours, or tours cancelled at the last minute may be subject to cancellation penalties from the tour operators, so please take measures to avoid this.
