Meet the Head Coach Head Coach Marcus Reilly Marcus Reilly begins his third year as Rhode Island College s Head Women s Basketball Coach. In just his second season at RIC, Reilly led the Anchorwomen to their first winning season in three years, compiling a 16-10 overall record and a 7-7 (fifth place) mark in the Little East. The Anchorwomen improved their record by six games from the previous year. Of the squad's 10 losses, eight of them were by five points or less. In his first season rebuilding the program in 2008-09, Reilly led RIC to a 10-16 overall record and a 5-9 mark in the Little East Conference. The team upset the University of Southern Maine to snap a 24-game losing streak dating back to 1997. Reilly placed two recruits on the Little East All- Rookie first team, including the Little East Freshman of the Year. Reilly joined the RIC staff after leading the Community College of Rhode Island to two straight Elite Eight appearances and a 45-19 record over the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons. During Reilly s tenure, the program was consistently ranked in the top 25 in the nation and his recruiting classes produced three NJCAA All-Americans. In 2006-2007, Reilly was named the Female Sports Co-Coach of the Year by Words Unlimited, Rhode Island s statewide organization of sports writers, sportscasters and sports publicists. From 2003-2006, Reilly was tabbed as First Assistant and Recruiting Coordinator for the NCAA Division I Jacksonville State University Gamecocks. While at Jacksonville State, Reilly helped guide the program to their first-ever trip to the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Final Four and their highest Division I win total of 18 victories. In the 2003-04 season, Reilly, as the Director of Scouting, helped guide the Gamecocks in their first-ever victory over a Conference USA opponent (UAB) and first-ever SEC victory over Auburn. The recruiting efforts and player development during that time produced three All-Conference players and placed two recruits on the Ohio Valley Conference All-Newcomer team. Reilly s first stint as CCRI s Head Women s Basketball Coach was from 2001-03, where he led the Knights to a 32-16 record in a massive rebuilding effort. The program broke through its perennial regional struggles by upsetting Mitchell College for the first time in program history, breaking a 45-game, 23-year losing streak. In that time, Reilly recruited the first CCRI class of women s basketball players to reach the NJCAA Final Four, including the Lady Knights all-time and single season leading scorers. Before joining the college ranks, he coached Cranston High School West from 1999-2001 to a 24-17 record and led them to their first and only R.I. State Tournament Championship Game as Division I Central Champions. Five players from that team moved on to play college basketball at scholarship levels. He also mentored the Gatorade Player of the Year. During that time, he also served as Head Coach of the R.I. Breakers AAU basketball team. He earned a bachelor's degree in public policy from Trinity College, where he played four seasons of basketball for the Bantams, from 1995-1999. He is a member of the Women's Basketball Coach's Association (WBCA) and the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA). Reilly, a Cranston native who attended Cranston West, resides in Cranston, Rhode Island with his wife Lindsey their two sons Owen (4) and Jackson (1). 3

Meet the Assistant Coaches Associate Head Coach Claudia DeFaria Claudia DeFaria enters her eighth season with Coach Reilly. She assists him with all phases of the RIC women s basketball program including recruiting, scouting, practice execution, game coaching and alumni relations. While on the Community College of Rhode Island staff, DeFaria helped lead the Lady Knights to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament Final Four twice and the Elite Eight four times, while capturing five consecutive Region XXI and Northeast District Championships. DeFaria is a 1996 graduate of Rhode Island College and is one of the college s all-time greatest women s basketball players. In just two years at RIC, DeFaria scored 1,048 points, which ranks her ninth all-time in career scoring. She remains the only RIC player to ever score 1,000 points in just two seasons. She is also fifth all-time with 592 career rebounds. She was inducted into RIC s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002 and named to the college s 75th Anniversary Women s Basketball Team in 2005. She is currently a member of the Rhode Island College Hall of Fame selection committee. As a senior in 1994-95, DeFaria was named the Little East Conference s Player of the Year, First Team All-LEC and to the All-LEC Tournament team. DeFaria led the LEC in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 19.2 ppg and 11.8 rpg, a double-double for the entire season. She was named a New England Women s Basketball Association (NEWBA) Second Team All- Star and was named a Distinguished Student-Athlete by the Rhode Island Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (RIAIAW). Prior to coming to RIC, DeFaria starred at the Community College of Rhode Island from 1990-92. At the time of her graduation, she was CCRI s all-time leader in career scoring and assists and was inducted into its Athletic Hall of Fame in 1999. She was also honored as the CCRI alum of the year in 2008. DeFaria is a 1996 graduate of Rhode Island College, earning a bachelor s degree in justice studies. She is a 1993 graduate of CCRI, earning an associate s degree in business with a concentration in law enforcement. She is currently a member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). She was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009. In addition to her coaching duties, DeFaria is a supervisor with The Key Program, Inc. She resides in Central Falls, Rhode Island. 4

Meet the Assistant Coaches Assistant Coach Joanna Skiba Skiba enters her first year as Coach Reilly's assistant. She assists with all phases of the program, including recruiting, scouting, practice execution, game coaching and alumni relations. "I am thrilled to be joining the Rhode Island College basketball program and am enthusiastic to have the chance to contribute to a team on the rise, Skiba said. Having the opportunity to learn from such an experienced and successful coaching staff is one that I will embrace wholeheartedly. We are ecstatic to have Joanna join our staff and look forward to her positive impact on our program, especially in the areas of guard skill development and recruiting, RIC Head Coach Marcus Reilly said. I know she understands the direction of our program and will use her elite playing experience and strong northeast ties to positively represent Rhode Island College. She is already familiar with Reilly s coaching style, having played two seasons for him on the Rhode Island Breakers AAU team from 2001-03. Skiba begins her coaching career after an outstanding career playing professionally in both Spain and Iceland and for Head Coach Mary Burke at Bryant University from 2003-07. She was a four-year starting point guard for the Bulldogs and ranks sixth in program history with 1,333 points. The Providence native is Bryant s all-time leader with 183 made three-pointers. She was named Third Team All-Northeast Conference as both a sophomore and junior and to the league s Second Team all-star squad as a senior. The Classical High School product is also among the Bulldog leaders in several other categories. Skiba is second all-time in career free throw percentage at.772 (294-for-381) and minutes played (3,500). She is third in games played (117), fourth in career field goals made (428) and tied for fifth for field goals made in a season (143, 2005-06). She scored a career-high 33 points against Saint Michael s as a senior in 2007. That same season, Skiba registered a 31-point effort at Southern New Hampshire and poured in 26 at home against UMass Lowell. In other notable achievements on the court, she drained a career-high seven treys vs. Saint Michael s as a senior and helped lead Bryant to a first round NCAA win over Bentley as a freshman in 2004. While at Classical High School, Skiba was Rhode Island s Gatorade Player of the Year and scored 1,824 career points. She was an All-State selection as a junior after leading the Purple to the state finals and once again as a senior. Skiba earned her bachelor s degree in business marketing from Bryant in 2007.
