Dear Miss Teepee Creek Stampede Applicants, Thank you for expressing interest in participating in our Miss Teepee Creek Stampede Queen Competition for 2018. We encourage all applicants to read through the application package thoroughly and complete each section. Below is a checklist for what applicants are required to submit in order to be eligible for the competition. Entries close FRIDAY, MAY 4, 2018. The application must be received by this date. Welcome to the Miss Teepee Creek Stampede Queen Competition 2018 will be the tenth year for the Miss Teepee Creek Stampede Queen program. The last nine years have been very successful and our 9 previous queens have been wonderful ambassadors for the Teepee Creek Stampede. The rewards for competing in the Miss Teepee Creek Stampede Queen Competition are numerous. Every participant has the opportunity to garner one of the richest experiences of their lives and at the same time create a solid foundation for future endeavors. Lifelong friendships are made and many doors will be opened for all participants. Outline for the Competition o Must be 14-17 years of age as of JANUARY 1 ST, 2018 o Contestants will be judged in the following areas: o Horsemanship-will include a reining pattern, flag run, and presentation ride o Public Speaking- will include a prepared speech (topic will be assigned) and impromptus o A Personal Interview o A written test which will include rodeo and horse knowledge, and Teepee Creek Stampede history o Modeling o Photogenics o Overall appearance and personality during the competition; including at pancake breakfasts and promotional events during Stampede week o Application and resume will be considered by the judges o Team Event o o o o o Between the dates of May 6 th and May 12 th, there will be a brief workshop and information session for all contestants. Photos will be within this same timeframe to ensure they are in the program. Applicants will be informed as soon as the committee can set the date. There will be 2-3 events that entrants will attend in June and July (not judged), as well as make appearances at Stampede kick-off events the week before, possibly: Chataqua Days in Sexsmith, and the Canada Day Parade in Grande Prairie The competition will officially begin Wednesday, July 12, 2018 and run through to Saturday, July 15, 2018. Crowning will be during the Saturday afternoon rodeo performance Along with a custom-made trophy buckle, and a trophy saddle, Miss Teepee Creek Stampede 2018 will receive a $1,000.00 scholarship, custom-made spurs and various other prizes

Throughout her year long reign, Miss Teepee Creek Stampede will be an ambassador for the sport of rodeo, proudly representing the bar TP brand. She will appear at events across the Peace Country, educating and sharing with others her passion for the western way of life. Running for Miss Teepee Creek Stampede is a wonderful opportunity for young women to network, grow personally, and develop professional skills. The time commitment will be discussed at the information session in May. The Teepee Creek Stampede Association is looking for a young woman who demonstrates leadership, has outstanding communication skills, strives for excellence and has a passion for the sport of rodeo and western way of life. The Teepee Creek Stampede has a proud history, and Miss Teepee Creek will represent all that the Stampede stands for, carrying on the western tradition.

Background Information NOTE: In the following section please concisely and neatly describe your response. 1. Introduce yourself (in approximately 75 words). A point form resume no longer than two pages is required. The document should be typed, double-spaced and organized in applicant s personal style such as chronological, functional or combination. Resumes must be on plain white paper. 8. With your application form please include two (2) personal letters of reference (not relatives). Include their name, address and phone number (Eg. teacher, 4-H leader, coach, principal, etc) 9. All contestants must be a member of the Alberta Equestrian Federation. Please include a photocopy of your membership card with your application. Memberships can be obtained from www.albertaequestrian.com. Your application will be considered incomplete if you do not include this.

Miss Teepee Creek Stampede Queen Competition Related Rules and Regulations (Include but are not limited to the following) ELIGIBILITY 1. Queen Contestants must be ages 14-17 as of January 1 st, 2018. 2. Contestants must be single, never have been married, and have no children. 3. Contestants must live within two hours of Teepee Creek, decided by the Miss Teepee Creek Stampede Queen committee. 4. Contestants shall waiver liability. 5. Contestants must agree to abide by competition rules with the possibility of disqualification for infractions. 6. When a contestant becomes queen she must be available to fulfill all the required duties of her reign. RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. Contestants are required to read and understand all of the rules and regulations; if clarification is needed, the Queen Committee should be contacted. 2. Contestants must conduct themselves in a proper lady-like manner and portray high moral standards. 3. The consumption or use of alcohol or illegal substances by contestants will not be tolerated and will result in a contestant being disqualified immediately. 4. Each contestant is required to submit a $50.00 non-refundable entry fee. 5. Contestants must sign a waiver agreement and release of liability forms, and complete the application form. 6. Contestants must provide their own horse for the riding portion of the contest and Miss Teepee Creek Stampede must provide her own horse for events during her reign unless discussed otherwise with the Queen Committee. 7. Contestants must have their own transportation to and from events. Miss Teepee Creek Stampede must have her own transportation to and from events as well. 8. Contestants must possess a valid and current Alberta Equestrian Federation membership. Proof of membership must be provided. 9. Contestants must provide their own wardrobe and follow guidelines on the wardrobe as set out by the queen committee. 10. Contestants will draw for positions after everyone has checked in, or contestants will compete in alphabetical order, the committee will decide. 11. All decisions of the judges are final. 12. Rudeness toward the judges, other contestants, and/or competition coordinators by contestants or contestants parents will not be tolerated. 13. Miss Teepee Creek Stampede will be crowned at the Saturday rodeo performance of the Teepee Creek Stampede. 14. All prizes awarded are property of the recipient with exception of the traveling crown, chaps and any other items specified by the Queen Committee; they will be passed on to

the new queen at the end of the Queen s reign and are property of the Miss Teepee Creek Stampede Queen Committee. Buckles and other prizes will be forfeited to the Teepee Creek Stampede Queen Committee if at any time the reigning queen cannot fulfill her duties during her year-long reign. 15. The Teepee Creek Stampede Association expects each contestant to display the highest degree of sportsmanship during the pageant and following coronation. Unsportsmanlike conduct by contestants or parents will not be tolerated. It could result in the contestant being disqualified. 16. Miss Teepee Creek Stampede must sign a contract agreeing to represent the Association in a business-like, professional, and appropriate manner. Miss TPCS must never be under the influence of alcohol or drugs during her reign; this will not be tolerated and would result in the termination of her reign. 17. Miss Teepee Creek Stampede will be expected to help plan, obtain sponsorships and prizes, and help to coordinate the following year's competition. JUDGING GUIDELINES Contestants will be scored in the following categories: horsemanship, public speaking, modeling, a personal interview, photogenics, impromptus, a written test, appearance and personality, and the application. 1. Horsemanship will include a horsemanship pattern. Each girl must provide her own horse. One girl to a horse. Tack used during competition should be sufficient to control the horse. Split reins are preferred but optional. Immediately following the horsemanship patterns, the contestant will make a queen s run and a flag run. 2. The speech component of the competition will include a 3-4 minute prepared speech and an impromptu speech on topics assigned by the Miss Teepee Creek Stampede Queen Committee. 3. The modeling portion will include a fashion show in front of the judges and a public audience. 4. The personal interview will include an interview with a panel of judges. 5. Photogenics will be scored based on photos taken prior to the competition by the official photographer. 6. The written test will include general horsemanship, rodeo, and Teepee Creek Stampede knowledge. 7. Appearance and personality will be judged throughout the competition. Judges will be aware of current dress fashions and styles. They will also be aware of the appropriate attire for each event. This is not a clothing and tack contest. Neat clothes that fit properly, and neat, clean tack is what the judges will be looking for. The objective of this competition is to find a girl who can ride well, speak to the public about rodeo, the Teepee Creek Stampede and other topics, and represent herself and the Teepee Creek Stampede Association in a dignified and honorable way.

WAIVER AGREEMENT This Agreement is between the Teepee Creek Stampede Association and. 1. Contestant has a) received a complete copy of all rules and regulations, b) read all rules and regulations, c) has been advised of amendments to the rules if any, d) understands rules and regulations, e) has had the opportunity to have any questions answered fully. 2. Contestants will adhere to and comply with the rules and regulations. 3. If a contestant has observed a rule violation, please make the pageant director aware of this violation and the appropriate measures will be taken. 4. All decisions of the judges and coordinators will be final. 5. I understand there are certain risks and dangers involved in competing in the Miss Teepee Creek Stampede Queen Competition and I hereby assume all risks of injury sustained to my person of damage or loss to my property resulting from my participation in the pageant. 6. I do hereby release the Miss Teepee Creek Stampede Queen Committee and the Teepee Creek Stampede Association, all Association Directors, Coordinators and members from all claims, demands, actions, and causes of action of any sort of injury sustained to my person or damage or loss to my property resulting from my participation in the competition. I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE FOREGOING RELEASE OF INJURY I represent and certify that my true age is years, and if I am under the age of 18 years, I represent and certify that I have permission and consent of my parents and/or guardian to participate in the stated activities, and that they have knowledge thereof.
