Since missing the Dec. 2 home game against Northern Illinois due to injury, Brackmann has averaged 10.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. Her 6.0 free throw attempts per game is second in the MVC and she needs just two made free throws to push her season total among the top 10 freshman marks in school history. Turning Up The D Bradley held Illinois-Chicago to a season-low 26.2 percent shooting in the 65-56 road win against the Flames on Dec. 22 to conclude the nonconference portion of the schedule. UIC opened the second half 3-of-28 from the field as Bradley built a 22-point lead before the Flames went on to make 6-of-7 shots to conclude the contest. Prior to the late run, Illinois-Chicago was shooting 19 percent from the field (11-for-58). The Braves surrendered a season-low 56 points in each of the last two non-conference games with Valparaiso and UIC combining to shoot 28.6 percent from the field and make just 4-of-38 (10.5) percent from beyond the arc. On the season, Bradley is third in the MVC in three-point field goal percentage defense (.297) and fourth in the Valley in field goal percentage defense (.407). ending on a high note The 65-56 road win at Illinois-Chicago gave Bradley back-to-back victories for the first time in 2016-17 and snapped a four-game losing skid in the final non-conference game of the year. Bradley had not finished the non-conference schedule with consecutive road victories since the 2009-10 campaign. Bradley is now 7-3 the last 10 times it has wrapped up the non-conference schedule prior to Christmas and owns a 10-4 all-time mark when closing the nonleague slate before the holidays. making them count Junior Anneke Schlueter was a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line and scored a career-best 23 points to help highlight the Dec. 19 victory at Valparaiso. crashing the boards Senior Leti Lerma helped highlight the 70-60 victory over Detroit (Nov. 18) with 11 points, seven assists, one steal and a career-best 22 rebounds. In addition to ranking as the second most rebounds in a game in program history, Lerma s total ranks as the third-best in the nation in 2016-17 through Jan. 1 and most by a Missouri Valley Conference player since Dec. 2010. She tied a school record with 12 offensive boards against the Titans, to match the mark originally set by Eileen Yerkes against Dayton on Feb. 4, 1992. As a team, the Braves had 60 boards to tie for the fifth highest total in school history (most since Dec. 5, 1992) and the team s +19 rebounding margin against Detroit was the best for the Braves since a +22 effort vs. Southern Illinois on Feb. 4, 2012. Lerma s performance against Detroit was the first 11-point, 22-rebound, seven-assist outing was the first by a player in the MVC since at least the 1985-86 season. bradley single-game rebounds Reb. 42nd season The 2016-17 season marks the 42nd year of intercollegiate competition for Bradley women s basketball. The Braves will be playing their seventh season at Renaissance Coliseum and this winter s campaign will mark the 34th as a member of the Missouri Valley Conference. For just the second time in program history, Bradley women s basketball will be coached by an alum with 1992 graduate and Bradley Hall of Fame member Andrea Gorski taking over the head coaching duties in April 2016. welcome back Bradley ushered in a new era in 2016-17 after former standout Andrea Gorski was named the ninth head coach in program history in April. A 1996 Bradley Hall of Fame inductee, Gorski was a firstteam All-Gateway Conference selection as a senior in 1991-92 and finished her career ninth in scoring on The Hilltop. Gorski spent the previous three seasons as Associate Head Coach at Missouri Valley Conference rival Southern Illinois (2013-16) and five seasons as head coach at Concordia University (2008-13) in Ann Arbor, Mich., where she led the Cardinals to three consecutive NAIA Tournament appearances and back-to-back Sweet 16 s. She held the Bradley career record for three-point makes (148) at the time of her graduation and still ranks fifth in school history. Gorski set the Bradley single-game record with eight three-pointers at Western Illinois on Jan. 27, 1990. In addition, she is third all-time with 360 career assists. Gorski is the first female Bradley graduate to serve as head coach on The Hilltop and is the first alum to coach a Bradley team since Jim Les wrapped up a nineyear tenure as head coach of the men s basketball team in 2010-11. returning numbers Despite returning just eight letterwinners, Bradley is one of six MVC teams which return at least 50 percent of its scoring and over 40 percent of its rebounding from last year. In fact, the Braves return 55 percent of its scoring which ranks fifth in the Valley and the squad also features 42.6 percent of its rebounding from last season which ranks sixth in the league. mvc breakdown by the percentages % Returning % Returning School Scoring (PPG) Rebounding (RPG) Bradley 55.0 (30.4) 42.6 (15.3) Drake 93.4 (74.4) 79.9 (34.4) Evansville 66.8 (36.5) 59.4 (18.9) Illinois State 39.9 (22.2) 41.2 (14.9) Indiana State 50.1 (29.2) 51.4 (19.9) Loyola 3.4 (2.2) 3.0 (1.1) Missouri State 40.3 (28.3) 39.1 (15.7) Northern Iowa 40.1 (25.5) 28.2 (9.8) SIU 57.8 (40.0) 46.8 (19.8) Wichita St. 96.7 (51.0) 84.1 (26.5) senior leadership Forward Leti Lerma is Bradley s lone senior in 2016-17 and will look to continue her strong play to close the 2015-16 campaign. A member of the school s Athletics Hall of Fame as one of the best players in the history of Bradley Women s Basketball, Andrea (McAllister) Gorski returned to The Hilltop when she was named the ninth head coach in program history in April 2016. Gorski returns to her alma mater from Missouri Valley Conference rival Southern Illinois, where she spent the last three years as associate head coach on former Bradley assistant Cindy Stein s staff. During Gorski s time in Carbondale, Southern Illinois improved its overall and conference records in each of her three seasons, culminating in the first 20- win season for the Salukis in almost a decade, as well as the program s first postseason appearance andrea gorski Bradley 92 First Season as Bradley Head Coach Education: Bradley 92 (B.S.) The Salukis had won a total of 15 games and just five MVC contests in the three years prior to Gorski s arrival at SIU, but have racked up 37 wins and 22 conference victories in the last two seasons. A native of Dearborn Heights, MI, Gorski boasts 20 years of coaching experience, including 17 years as a head coach at the collegiate and high school levels. Before joining Stein s staff at Southern Illinois, Gorski was head coach at Concordia University in Ann Arbor, MI, from 2008-13. In just five seasons, she became the winningest coach in the program s history. Inheriting a team which had never made the NAIA national tournament, Gorski s squads reached the NAIA Tournament each of her last three seasons and made consecutive Sweet 16 appearances in 2012 and 2013. During her tenure with the Cardinals, the two-time conference coach-ofthe-year selection led Concordia to a 106-59 (.667) overall mark and 58-28 (.674) conference record. In fact, Gorski s teams combined for an 80-24 (.769) overall record and 48-8 (.857) league record in her last three seasons at the school. In addition to leading Concordia to its best national ranking in program history, Gorski s achievements included mentoring three first-team All-Americans and three conference players of the year. Off the court, she served as Interim Director of Athletics at Concordia during the 2011-12 school Gorski Year-by-Year Record year and was Associate Director of Athletics for her final three seasons. Gorski entered coaching shortly after graduating from Bradley in 1992 with a degree in business management and administration, serving as a graduate assistant for the Braves in 1992-93 before venturing into the private sector. She returned to coaching three years later, taking over as head coach of Ladywood High School in February 1996. She led her squad to a 184-99 (.650) record in 12 seasons at the Livonia, MI, school and the Blazers claimed 11 district titles and a pair of conference championships during her prep coaching career. Gorski was a threetime Catholic League Coach of the Year and was selected as the state coach of the year in 2005 by the Associated Press, Detroit Free Press and Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan. A 1996 Bradley Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, Gorski was a first-team All-Gateway Conference selection as a senior in 1991-92. Her sophomore season included a school-record 12 conference victories and her final three seasons mark the only time in program history the Braves finished in the top half of the league standings in three consecutive seasons. Gorski finished her career ninth in scoring at Bradley with 980 career points and she still is 18th all-time in scoring on The Hilltop. She shared the 1992 Charles Orsborn Award with baseball player Matt Quinn after averaging 14.7 points per game as a senior. Gorski still ranks among the Bradley career top 10 in three-point field goals (5th), assists (4th), starts (T8th) and minutes played (8th). Gorski has two children, Luke and Kiley. Kiley Gorski was a member of the Southern Illinois women s basketball team and served as a student assistant coach in 2015-16. Overall Conference Season School W L Pct.
