Hundreds of miles of glacial fjords are there for you to enjoy by kayak, hiking, or simply cruising on the Sea Wolf. On our explorations there is always the possibility of seeing coastal brown bears, black bears, and even the rare glacier bear. We will also keep our eyes out for wolves, moose and a myriad of other land and marine mammals. We promise you will see glaciers, mountains towering straight up from the sea and the acrobatic humpback whale. All of this and more make up the magic of Glacier Bay! 2015 GLACIER BAY DEPARTURES MAY JUNE JULY AUGUST 5/31-6/5 6/7-6/12 7/5-7/10 8/2-8/7 6/14-6/19 7/12-7/19 8/09-8/14 6/21-6/26 7/19-7/24 8/23-8/28 6/28-7/03 7/26-7/31 BIRDS, BEARS & GLACIERS 11 DAY/10 NIGHT ADVENTURE Juneau- Glacier Bay MAY 8-28, 2015 May is a magical time to be in Glacier Bay National Park because we have it largely to ourselves just the bears, the first returning humpback whales, and the thousands of migrating shore and seabirds bound for Arctic nesting sites. In 2015 Dr. Alan Berger (Mr. Murrelet will be joining us a s a guest ornithologist. He will round out our team of great naturalists so nary a critter in the air, sea or land will be missed. Against a backdrop of some of the most magnificent mountains on earth, rivers of glacial ice tumble into the sea and aquamarine- colored icebergs drift by on the tides. Brown and black bears have emerged from their winter dens and are low on the beaches grazing on sedges and in the intertidal zone. May weather is cool, but usually the driest of the season and offers long days for exploration.

SOUTHEAST ALASKA INSIDE PASSAGE TONGASS NATIONAL FOREST EXPLORATION JUNEAU- KETCHIKAN SEPTEMBER 1-10, 2015 Once we leave Juneau we enter Tongass National Forest! A national treasure, the Tongass covers most of Southeast Alaska and surrounds the famous Inside Passage. Here, in the largest national forest in America, you will find unique chances to view glaciers, eagles, bears, spawning salmon, and the breathtaking vistas of "wild" Alaska. The Tongass offers an abundance of wildlife and vista viewing. On water there is the probability of sighting humpback whales, Orcas, porpoise, and Stellar sea lions as well as numerous sea birds. On terra firma we may see black bears, brown bears, and mountain goats. We average four hours of cruising per day allowing us plenty of opportunity for exploring by foot, kayak and skiff. Our routes and anchorages are chosen to give us the best available opportunities to experience the rich and diverse environment of this temperate rain forest. It was amazing to be in Alaska again and we were thrilled to be back on the Sea Wolf with Kimber and her wonderfully fun and knowledgeable crew. The lush rainforest in this adventure marks a striking difference from Glacier Bay- it is truly a magical journey through the Tongass National Forest cruising down the Inside Passage Andrea, Bedford, MA

THE GREAT BEAR RAINFOREST OF BRITISH COLUMBIA VOYAGE OF THE SPIRIT BEAR SEPTEMBER 12-22, 2015 11 DAYS/10 NIGHTS A voyage to the wild archipelagos of coastal British Columbia allows us an unparalleled window into an ancient magical world- one in which all life is inextricably linked to the sea. Join the M/V Sea Wolf at Ketchikan, Alaska, as we embark on a voyage along a coast of glacier carved fjords, channels, inlets and islands. We will enjoy many opportunities to explore- a magical world that can only be reached by boat or sea kayak. The rainforests are home to some of the world s most majestic trees- Douglas fir, Sitka spruce, red cedar, and western hemlock- with some trees towering over 300' in height and measuring 19 in diameter, and some at least a 1,000 years old. The rocky shores are covered with shorebirds and seabirds, among the thousands beginning their long migration to southern waters and live at the mercy of winds and wave. The shaded streams and rivers that wind through these forests offer the perfect clear, cold spawning grounds for six species of salmon that return here each year. These salmon runs are the heart of this ancient forest ecosystem and provide an almost continuous supply of food in spring, summer and fall, particularly for the bears, preparing for hibernation, but also for gray wolves, bald eagles, gulls, dippers, pine marten, river otters, mink and many others. The bears- one of the highest concentrations of Coastal brown bears found in North America, black bears and the legendary "Spirit Bear", a rare white subspecies of the black bear- are crucial to the transfer of marine derived nutrients (decomposing salmon) into both freshwater and terrestrial ecosystems ashore. We spend a day with a local Native Spirit Bear Guide watching these beautiful bears fishing. Our spirits nourished by wonderful memories and shared experiences, the conclusion of our voyage, at Bella Bella, comes all too soon. The Kermode bear plays a part in local First Nations lore and religion. Legend has it that long ago the area where the spirit bear lives was covered in ice and snow. Raven saw this and decided to make the land lush and green for the people. But as a reminder to the people of the misery they had once lived in, he made every tenth bear white like ice. This is perhaps a memory of the ice ages transmitted through folklore.

SAN JUAN ISLANDS, WA CRUISING, KAYAKING, HIKING AND BIKING PRIVATE ADVENTURE So gather up your family, friends or kayaking group for a custom adventure. October 2015 The San Juan Islands lie within the nutrient rich waters of Puget Sound, also known as the Salish Sea. This archipelago encompasses several hundred islands, rocks, and reefs thus creating miles of twisting shoreline with amazing views that are magnificent for exploration by kayak as well as offering lovely hikes. The rain shadow cast by the Olympic Mountains creates microclimates on each island. Plants of rainforest, prairie and desert share the same islands, making it possible to witness massive 200 firs, Garry oaks, and dwarf cactus growing within yards of each other. The hiking on these islands is wonderful- deer, a multitude of flora and sometimes a few playful river otters- plenty to feast your eyes upon. The rocky shores abound with tide pools full of complex intertidal creatures, hauled out harbor seals, and Stellar sea lions. Birds, both resident and migratory, congregate in these protected bays. These waters are also home to the famous San Juan Island Orca pods J, K and L. We explore by foot the fossil laden cliffs of Sucia, as well as paddle the beautiful coastline that has a Stellar Sea Lion haul out and is critical habitat for Harlequin ducks. We also explore by foot or kayak, Macia, Stuart, San Juan (Orca Paddle) and Jones Islands. We love to bike across Lopez through the farmlands and then paddle to Watmough in the afternoon- this paddle reminds me of the outer coast of S.E. Alaska. In October the weather is generally beautiful and the fall colors stunning - this is the time to explore the Salish Sea.
