Table tennis: Match is played best 5 games (hence first to 3) First player to reach 11 points wins that game, however a game must be won by at least a two point margin. A point is scored after each ball is put into play (not just when the server wins the point as in volleyball). The edges of the table are part of the legal table surface, but not the sides. Flow of the Match Each player serves two points in a row and then switch server. However, if a score of 10-10 is reached in any game, then each server serves only one point and then the server is switched. After each game, the players switch side of the table. In the final game (ie 5th game), the players switch side again after either player reaches 5 points. Tennis: Fast 4 format: 1. It s the first to 3 sets (1 set = 4 games & 1 game=first to 4 points) 2. Played on a flat surface, half the size of a conventional sports field. Rules 1-Touch, where the attacking team is allowed possession to score before handing the ball over. Kick off The game starts with one team kicking to the opposition team. This is at the half way mark of the field. After making a touch, the defending team must retreat five meters from the mark where the touch occurred and stay there until the play begins. If any players do not retreat the entire five meters, or they leave before the attacking team has passed the ball, they will be penalized. If a penalty is conceded, the defending team must retreat at least 5 meters from the mark of the penalty. If a player makes an attempt to defend whilst still inside the 5 meters, they will be penalised. Scoring A try is awarded when an attacking player places the ball on or over the opposition's try line. The aim is to score more tries than the opposing team. A try is worth one point and scored by placing the ball in the opponent's in-goal area. There are no other methods of scoring. If you are over the try line and drop the ball instead of touching the ball on the ground it is counted as a drop ball and it is turned over and this means the opposition is awarded the ball. The Penalty A penalty is granted to the non-offending team if: the ball is passed forward or if the ball is dropped. Screw-in cleats are strictly prohibited, though moulded-sole football boots may be worn. Teams The teams can be male, female or mixed. Each team can consist of up to 14 players, of which 6 players can be on the field at any one time. Mixed teams typically comprise 3 females and 3 males on the field at one time. There is no limit to the number of substitutions a player or team can make. Substitutions may be made at any time provided the players are in the designated substitution box. Play is continuous and does not stop for substitutions. Duration Two x 10 minute halves with a 3 minute halftime, though other time frames are often used to suit local conditions and competitions.
