A MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR Live Life is the theme for Seniors Week 2013 and the program has many events & activities in which seniors of our community will be able to live life within our Municipality. The Seniors Week Committee has worked extremely hard together to bring our seniors a full and varied program of events for people 55 years and over. Events range from the Fancy Hat High Tea party at Kiama Library, Trike rides for residents of Blue Haven Aged Care Facility, Rock N Roll party at North Kiama Neighbourhood Centre, BBQ Lunch and entertainment at Kiama Community Centre being a few of the great events planned for Seniors Week 2013. I encourage you to participate in as many events as you can and by doing so you will be contributing to our community in a most positive way. Seniors provide a wonderful role model for others in our community to follow. In this special week there are many opportunities to Live Life. I hope you all have a wonderful Seniors Week and I look forward to enjoying your company at the celebrations. Brian Petschler Mayor

BOOKING ARRANGEMENTS For the majority of the events scheduled for Seniors Week 2013 bookings are essential. This is so that arrangements can be made for seating and catering at the events. People who do not book may not be catered for or have transport provided. If you are required to book for an event you will find the name and contact phone no. of the Bookings Contact listed. All bookings must be made directly with the individual listed as the Bookings Contact for the event you wish to attend. Booking can only be made between: Monday, 18/02/13 to Friday, 08/03/13. If transport is going to be provided for a particular event it will be marked as follows: Transport is provided All bookings for transport need to be organised with the Bookings Contact of the event you wish to attend. Transport bookings need to be made by no later then 4.00pm on Friday, 08/03/13.

TRANSPORT For residents of the Kiama LGA, who are frail aged, people with a disability and their carers, transport may be provided to some events. If you are not currently registered as a client with Kiama Council s Community Transport Project and require transport please book early, as you will need to be assessed prior to being given transport. Individuals with access to private transport are encouraged to use it and leave the Community Transport places for those individuals without access to private transport. If you are able to assist in transporting others to an event you are attending, please advise the Bookings Contact when you ring to register. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated Remember, if you require transport to an event and transport is being provided, you must notify the relevant Bookings Contact by no later than 4pm on Friday, 08/03/13. Individuals will not be charged for transport. There is no need to ring the Community Transport staff for a pick-up time. You will simply be picked up sometime in the hour before the event you are attending is due to start

Local Church Services DATE: Sunday, 17/03/13 All local churches have been asked to recognise seniors during their service(s) on Sunday, 17 March. All members of the community welcome Bookings are not necessary for attendance at church services Transport is NOT provided

KIAMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE & KIAMA LIBRARY Kiama Walking App Tour DATE: Tuesday, 19/03/13 EVENT: 9.30am Take part in the Kiama Walking App Tour after downloading the App with a little help from Kiama Library and Kiama Community College. Available for those with Android systems and those with ipad/iphone. The walking tour has images and oral history that enhance the experience while using the app. Those who have a device will be given help by Kiama Library to download the app. Those who do not yet have a device will attend an information session by Kiama Community College.
