Board of Governors The BHCC staff and membership would like to thank Ed Odmark, Hector Cora, Paul Luckaks and Harvey Gammon for their volunteer time on the Board of Governors. We would also like to welcome new Board of Governors Andrew Ishoy, Carl Moogalian, Ken Jordan and Rick Bowers. From the Superintendent During this month, you should see some of the Capital Improvements at work. This includes the removal of silt in the front section of #4 lake, removing and add concrete cart path where the machines destroy the asphalt path on #4, and also replacing the crosstie wall on #5 cart path and adding a block wall. I m not sure yet of exact dates, because the contractor is backed up on jobs from all the rainfall this winter. You will notice #5 will have a new look. There are two large oak trees that will be removed that block tee shots and seconds shots into the green. The tree that hangs over the fairway at the wall has to be removed in order to construct the new wall properly. If you have any questions, please stop and ask. If you ve been struggling with your full swing, short game or are having problems on the course, don t struggle for too long. Stop by the golf shop and talk with Shawn, Matt, Kris or Dan to get a practice plan started today. We can show you what exactly is going on, and what you need to do to correct these flaws, that way when you practice, you can be sure you are practicing the correct swing motions. Stop by soon! Try this indoor practice putting routine to help keep sharp during the cold weeks of winter. -Using a putting mat or water bottle of some sort, start from 3 feet and make 30 in a row. If you miss, start again. -Now shift to a ladder drill. From 3 feet make 15 in a row, from 6 feet make 10 in a row, and from 15 feet make 5 in a row. If you miss you must start over. -Finally, either on your putting mat or smooth area of carpet, lay a penny or dime on the floor. From three feet you must hit the penny 20 times in a row missing zero putts. This putting routine should take no more than 20 minutes. You can do this daily, 3x per week, or however much you want. We often don t spend enough time practicing our putting, but it accounts for nearly 40% of our strokes taken on the course. Work on putts inside 10 feet. These are the ones that have the highest percentage of going in regardless of outside variables. It takes commitment and some extra tools, but it s one of the quickest ways to lower your handicap
