FLORIDA MARLINS 2007 SPRING TRAINING PROSPECTUS

2007 SPRING TRAINING INFORMATION TRAINING COMPLEX MAJOR LEAGUE HOTEL MINOR LEAGUE HOTEL Roger Dean Stadium Hampton Inn Fairfield Inn 4751 Main Street 401 RCA Boulevard 6748 West Indiantown Road Jupiter Palm Beach Gardens Jupiter 561.775.1818 561.625.8880 561.748.5252 Workouts take place on the fields behind the Marlins offices, located behind the left field wall at the Roger Dean Stadium complex. Media Relations Office Director, Media Relations: Matt Roebuck (561) 799-1352 Cell: (305) 785-5291 Manager, Media Relations: Mike Gazda (561) 799-1375 Cell: (305) 788-2153 Marlins return for fifth season at Roger Dean Stadium: The Florida Marlins return to Jupiter s Roger Dean Stadium for their fifth season. In 2003, Baseball America recognized Roger Dean Stadium as Baseball s fifth-best Spring Training facility, behind Dodgertown (Dodgers site in Vero Beach), Disney s Wide World of Sports (Braves site in Orlando), Legends Field (Yankees site in Tampa), and Surprise Stadium (Royals and Rangers site in Surprise, Ari.). Roger Dean Stadium is located slightly more than one hour s drive north of the Club s regular-season home of Dolphin Stadium. The complex is located on approximately 110 acres within the Abacoa community. Abacoa is located on Donald Ross Road, approximately ¼ mile east of Interstate 95. The Marlins share the Palm Beach County facility with the St. Louis Cardinals, the only multiple team Spring Training site in the Grapefruit League. The $28 million state-of-the-art complex opened on February 28, 1998 and accommodates 7,000 fans with luxury sky box seats, field and loge box seats, bleachers and berm seating. The ballpark seats approximately 6,700 and another 300 fans can spread out on a blanket and catch a closer glimpse of the game from the berm seating, located just in front of the Party Deck in right field. The six air-conditioned luxury suites provide 320 square feet of interior entertainment including wet bar, refrigerator, sink, ice maker, color television with VCR, bar stools, sofa and additional seats. Each suite offers seating for 12 (outdoors) and is available with private entrance and elevator access. The Marlins begin their 15 th Spring Training with an exhibition game on Tuesday, Feb. 27, when they host the University of Miami Hurricanes at 3:05 p.m. The Marlins play their first Grapefruit League contest the following day, Wednesday, Feb. 28, when they are the visitors at Roger Dean against the St. Louis Cardinals at 1:05 p.m. The Marlins spent their inaugural Spring Training at the Cocoa Expo Center in Cocoa Beach and played nine years (1994-2002) at Space Coast Stadium in Viera (Melbourne). Following Spring Training, the complex is the home to the Class A Jupiter Hammerheads (Florida Marlins affiliate) and Palm Beach Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals affiliate) of the Florida State League. Admission to all Marlins Spring Training games requires an MLB Spring Training credential, a BBWAA card or a Marlins daily Spring Training credential.

Practice Times: A daily workout schedule will be distributed each morning. Media Credentials: All media outlets must have a letter (on company letterhead) on file with the Marlins to have credentials issued. Members of the media covering Spring Training workouts and/or games will be asked to display approved credentials. Only credentials issued by Major League Baseball, the BBWAA or the Marlins will be honored. Single-game credentials will be issued to those approved members of the media who did not receive season credentials. These include writers and photographers for weekly and monthly publications in addition to radio and television reporters and photographers. Requests should be received at least 24 hours in advance of the game(s) requested by mail, fax or email. Credential requests sent at least one business day in advance should be faxed to Maria Armella at 305.626.7302 or emailed to credentials@flamarlins.com. Credential requests sent on weekends should be faxed to 561.799.1394 or emailed to mroebuck@flamarlins.com. Media are also required to call in advance to determine the status of their credential requests. Credential Pick-up and Media Entrance: All credentials can be picked up at the reception desk or in the media relations office located on the first floor in the Marlins offices behind the left field wall at Roger Dean Stadium. Manager Interview Times: Marlins Manager Fredi Gonzalez will be available daily to the media in the afternoon following daily workouts. Please contact the Marlins Media Relations staff for any special requests. Clubhouse Access: The Marlins clubhouse will be open to credentialed members of the media before and after workouts. On workout days, the clubhouse will be open for 45 minutes, starting one hour before the morning meetings, and re-open following the workout for one hour. On game days, the clubhouse will open in the morning, as usual, and will open again following the completion of games. The starting pitcher during spring games will often be made available during games. Media are not permitted in the clubhouse during a game. Still photographers are not permitted in the clubhouse area at any time. Video cameras are not allowed to shoot B-roll footage in the clubhouse. Training rooms and weight rooms are off-limits to the media at all times. Field Access for Workouts: The area in foul territory between first and third base is open to all working members of the media during workouts. No unescorted camera crews will be allowed in any other areas at any time. Media Facilities: Work facilities for the media are located in the Marlins offices behind the left field line. There are approximately 30 seats in the press box area with table top space. Additional table space is available behind the main seating area. Courtesy phones are available in the press box and media work room (800 and 561 service only). A photocopier, media guides, camp notes and game notes are available in the press box and in the media work room. Assigned seats in the press box will be marked. Unassigned seats are available for accredited members of the media.

The following are the Marlins media policies for Spring Training games: When the Marlins play in Jupiter: The Marlins clubhouse will be open for 45 minutes in the morning, closing 15 minutes prior to the daily meeting. The times will be announced one day in advance. The clubhouse will re-open following the game, for approximately one hour. The game s starting pitcher will be made available outside the Marlins clubhouse, following his conditioning. Players that have left the game early can be made available, upon request, in certain instances. Manager Fredi Gonzalez will be available following the game. When the Marlins play on the road: The visiting clubhouse will open upon bus arrival, up to 15 minutes before stretch/batting practice begins. We request that, due to typical size restrictions of visiting clubhouses, TV interviews be conducted outside the clubhouse. Players will not be available once batting practice begins. The clubhouse will re-open following the game. The game s starting pitcher will be made available following his conditioning. Other players that have left the game early will be made available, upon request, in certain instances. Manager Fredi Gonzalez will be available in the dugout prior to and following the game. The clubhouse in Jupiter will not be open to media. Media needing a player that does not make a road trip, should make arrangements with the Marlins PR staff to accommodate your needs. Please contact the Marlins media relations department for any special requests. Photo Day: The Marlins will hold their annual Photo Day on Friday, February 23, beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Marlins offices. All photographers who plan to attend should request clearance from the media relations department in advance. Photo Day is limited to photographers from wire services, Major League broadcast rightsholders, official licensees and some credentialed daily newspapers. Freelance photographers will not be given access to shoot. Media attending Photo Day may begin to set up at 6:00 a.m., and should be prepared to begin by 7:00 a.m. Photographers should bring their own bats, balls, or other props for any special set-up shots. Photos are only allowed to be taken at specific photo stations. Photographers looking to shoot any type of editorial photos of photo day must receive prior permission from the Marlins media relations department. Special Photo Requests: Publications planning any special photo shoots regarding Marlins personnel should submit a written request at least one week prior to the desired date. Photographers should bring their own bats, balls, or other props for any special set-up shots. Because of time constraints, all set-up photo shoots will be monitored. Photo Locations: There are photo bays on the far ends of each dugout at Roger Dean Stadium. Priority will be assigned to daily papers and wire services. Because of space constraints, no television cameras will be permitted in the field level photo locations. They will be assigned locations based on space availability. Roving is prohibited, unless specifically authorized.

Stadium Live Shots: Roger Dean Stadium will be available for postgame live shots. Please contact the Marlins media relations department with all live shot requests at least 48 hours prior to the day s event. Press Room Dining: A pregame meal is served in the area located immediately behind the main seating area in the press box. Meals will be available for purchase, and admittance requires a MLB Spring Training pass, a BBWAA or scout s card, or a Marlins spring credential. Media Parking: Parking at Roger Dean Stadium is free to accredited media covering practices or games. Those affiliates covering the Marlins on an everyday basis will receive a parking pass for the lot located on the third base side of the stadium. Parking is also available in the multiple-level lot across the street from the main entrance to Roger Dean Stadium.
