NOTICE OF RACE LBC Asian Open Regatta 2017 Lantau Boat Club 28-29 October 2017 Discovery Bay, Hong Kong 1. Eligibility Beach Catamarans up to and including 20 feet in length. Participation in the Regatta is by pre-registration through an entry form provided on Lantau Boat Club website (www.lantauboatclub.com). Incomplete forms will not be accepted. An entry is official when posted on the master scorecard, which will appear on the Lantau Boat Club website and will be updated on a regular basis. 2. Organising Authority The Organising Authority is the Lantau Boat Club, which is affiliated to the Hong Kong Sailing Federation (HKSF). The Lantau Boat Club has constituted a Racing Committee to oversee the event. 3. Venue The event will be based in the vicinity of Discovery Bay - Peng Chau - Western Harbour approaches. Weather conditions in October are expected to be 24-30C, with wind speeds of 6-20 knots, depending on the time of day. Water temperature is above 20C. 4. Location Entrants will be provided with a map showing possible race areas. The Race Officer will choose which race areas to use depending on conditions at the time, and communicate his decisions to entrants at the race briefing. 5. Briefing Briefing will be held at the Lantau Boat Club clubhouse each morning at 10:00am. All skippers are required to attend. 6. Rules The race shall be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing together with the Hong Kong Sailing Federation(HKSF) Prescriptions, the Lantau Boat Club Asian Open Regatta 2017 Sailing Instructions and the SCHRS handicap rating system For one class Hobie design rules will apply as per Hobie Class Association rules.
7. Discards If 5 or more races are completed, one discard will be allowed. 9. Classes Latest Possible 15:00 At least 5 entries are required to form a class. It is expected that there will be the following classes racing, although others may be formed depending on entries. Hobie 16 - Hobie Class Association Rules Open Division 1 (SCHRS rating <1.050) Open Division 2 (SCHRS rating >1.050) 10. Prizes Prizes will be awarded for results in the following categories and order of precedence: Each Class: First, Second, Third Up to three* races on a geometric Olympic style course and the Round- the-islands Race Round Island Race: First for each class Other prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the organising authority.
11. Measurements Weigh-ins will take place e.g. at the registration on Saturday morning 12. Safety All competitors shall wear buoyancy aids. It is strongly recommended that all competitors carry a suitable safety knife on their person and also a mobile phone packed in a watertight bag or container. The mobile phone is only to be used for emergencies. On-water safety will be directed by a designated Safety Officer. 13. Boat Delivery and Parking Competitors are responsible for delivering their boats to the Lantau Boat Club beach in Discovery Bay. A boat park will be marked on Discovery Bay Beach for the use of visiting boats one week before and one week after the event. 14. Social Included in the entry fee are: One set of regatta kit Light lunch for both Saturday and Sunday Saturday night buffet party for helm and crew on the beach in Discovery Bay. Tickets for guests are available from Lantau Boat Club upon request. Sunday night prize giving party with supper for helm and crew. Tickets for guests are available from Lantau Boat Club upon request. 15. Liability All competitors take part in all races at their own risk. Neither the organising authority nor any of their officials, representatives or sponsors are responsible, under any circumstances, for any damage, loss or injury either ashore or on the water either to persons or equipment, which may result from competing in this event. Participation in this event, supporting events and in each race is at the sole discretion of the sailor and at his / her own risk.
16. Insurance All boats shall have adequate third party insurance, a copy of which should be available for inspection at time of Registration or at any time requested by Lantau Boat Club. 17. Entries The entry fee is HK$990 per two-person boats and HK$550 for single-handed boats. For entries received and paid before 30th September 2017, the entry fee is HK$920 for two person boats and HK $500 for single-handed boats. Registration and payment must be conducted online using the registration form on the Club s website. Please go to www.lantauboatclub.com Extra Regatta merchandise may be available for additional cost. Extra tickets to the beach party and prize giving are available at HK$200 each. 18. Charter Boats Charter boats may be available. Please email enquiries to the Regatta Chair. 19. Sponsors Competitors may be required to display sponsors logos on their boats and/or to wear supplied clothing as directed by the race committee. Failure to comply may result in disqualification with no refund of any fees paid. 20. Sailing Instructions Sailing Instructions will be made available prior to the regatta on the club's website 21.
