NOTICE OF RACE FOR THE INTERNATIONAL YNGLING CLASS AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP AND GOLD CUP 27 th - 30 th December 2013 CONDUCTED BY ROYAL PRINCE ALFRED YACHT CLUB in conjunction with the Australian International Yngling Association Inc. UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF YACHTING NSW INC.

The Organising Authority is Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club (RPAYC) in conjunction with the Australian International Yngling Association Inc. (AIYA). 1 RULES 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in 2013 2016 Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) of the International Sailing Federation (ISAF), Special Regulations of Yachting Australia (YA), and the class rules of the International Yngling Class. In the event of conflict between rules and regulations, other than RRS, the Sailing Instructions will prevail. 2 ADVERTISING Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority. 3 ELIGIBILITY 3.1 The Regatta is open to all boats of the International Yngling Class. 3.2 All helmsman and crews shall be financial members of the Australian International Yngling Class Association. 3.3 All competitors helming or crewing a boat while racing shall conform to RRS 46 and 55. 3.4 The helmsman nominated on the entry form shall be deemed to be in charge of the boat and no change of helmsman shall be made without the prior written consent of the Race Committee. 3.5 All boats shall carry 3 crew while racing. 3.6 Boats may only use one mainsail, two jibs and one spinnaker in the regatta. 3.7 YA Special Regulations Equipment Compliance Category 7 shall apply. A copy shall be submitted at registration if not already held by the AIYA. 4 Entry 4.1 Competitors and coaches shall enter by completing the on-line entry form http://www.trybooking.com/dqns on the AIYA website www.yngling.org.au. On-line entries open October 1, 2013. Entries must be received no later than 1700hrs on December 1, 2013. Entries may be accepted after 1700hrs on 1 st December until 1700hrs on 23 rd December 2013 at the discretion of the organising authority if submitted with the full entry fee payment (refer fees). 4.2 Boats intending to carry advertising will indicate this on their entry form along with the names of companies and/or products to be advertised. 5 ENTRY FEE 5.1 The Regatta Entry Fee for the Championship is $480.00. Entries received before 1700 hrs on December 1, 2013 qualify for the early entry fee of $400.00. 6 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS 6.1 Registration Registration for competitors is between 0900hrs and 1130hrs on 27 th December 2013 at Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club. Registration must be completed prior to the start of the first scheduled race. 6.2 Measurement and inspection Friday 27 th December between 0900hrs and 1130 hrs at RPAYC. 6.3 Regatta Briefing Friday 27 th December at 1200hrs at RPAYC. 2

All boats shall be available for inspection and measurement checks from 0900hrs to 1130hrs on Friday December 27 at RPAYC. All Yngling sails shall carry an event marking (max 2 jibs, one main and one spinnaker). It is the owner and skippers responsibility to ensure that their boat conforms to the class rules. Spot checks will be carried out during the regatta. 8 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS 8.1 Will be available for collection from the Sailing Office of RPAYC from Thursday 19 th December 2013 or can be down loaded from the RPAYC website. 9 VENUE Attachment A shows the location of the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club. Attachment B shows the location of the racing area on Pittwater. 10 COURSES The Course configuration will be Windward / Leeward as described in the Sailing Instructions. 11 PENALTY SYSTEM The penalty for breaking a rule of part 2 shall be a One Turn Penalty (one tack and one gybe in the same direction) except that for infringements within the Zone, as defined in the RRS, shall be a Two Turns Penalty (two tacks and two gybes in the same direction). This changes RRS 44.1 and 44.2. 12 SCORING 12.1 The Low Point System of RRS Appendix A will apply. 12.2 At least 5 races are required to be completed to constitute a series. When 7 or more races have been completed, a boat s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score. 3

13 SUPPORT VESSELS 13.1 Team leaders, Coaches and other support personnel or boats will not approach closer than 50 meters to any boat racing from the Warning Signal until the last boat in that race has finished, without the approval of the Race Committee. 13.2 The penalty for failing to comply with 13.1 above may be the disqualification of all boats associated with the infringing party, parties, boat and or boats. (Addition to RRS 60.2) 14 BERTHING Boats shall be kept in their assigned places in the boat harbour. Berths will be available from December 22. Arrival date to be indicated as part of entry to assist with coordinating the crane and berthing. 15 HAUL OUT RESTRICTIONS All boats shall be afloat by 1300hrs on the 27 th December and may not haul out before the end of the regatta without the permission of the Race committee. 16 DIVING EQUIPMENT AND PLASTIC POOLS Underwater breathing apparatus and plastic pools or their equivalent shall not be used around keelboats between the preparatory signal of the first race and the end of the regatta. 17 RADIO COMMUNICATIONS Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make nor receive radio transmission while racing which is not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones. 18 TROPHIES AND PRIZES 18.1 Prizes will be awarded by the Yngling Association for 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd in the series on scratch. The Jan H Linge Trophy for the Australian Championship will be awarded to the first placed Skipper on scratch. A prize will also be awarded for 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd in the series on Handicap. 1 st place youth team will also be awarded a prize. The Gold Cup will be awarded to the first placed youth team. Youth will be 23 or under as at 27 December 2013. The Sirocco trophy will be awarded to the first place women s team. 18.2 Prizes will be presented at the prize giving after racing at Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club on Monday 30 th December 2013. 18.3 The awarding of any prizes shall be subject to any decisions from outstanding protests and appeals. 19 SAIL NUMBERS 19.1 A boat shall sail under the sail number advised on its entry form. 19.2 A boat shall display identical sail numbers on all its sails. 20 INSURANCE Each participating boat shall present at registration a valid insurance certificate showing proof of third-party liability coverage of at least AUD $5,000,000 ($10,000,000 recommended) or equivalent for any one incident. 21 COMPETITORS DECLARATION It is the responsibility of owners and skippers to ensure that each boat nominated on the entry complies with the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2003-2016 (RRS) and the International Yngling Class rules. 4

22 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY 22.1 All those taking part in the regatta do so entirely at their own risk and responsibility. Specific attention is drawn to RRS 4 which states; "The responsibility for a boat's decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone". 22.2 It is the competitor s decision to enter the Event or to start and continue in any race. Competitors shall accept that their participation in the Event is at their exclusive risk in every respect. By way of entry in the Event competitors shall indemnify the Organising Authorities, and the Host Club, their Officers, Members, Staff and Agents in respect to all claims and demands of whatever nature which may be made upon them in connection with or howsoever arising from their participation or intended participation in the Event. 22.3 The Organising Authorities, and the Host Sailing Club, their Officers, Members, Staff and Agents accept no responsibility in respect of loss of life, personal injury or loss or damage to property which may be sustained by reason of their participation or intended participation in the Event or howsoever arising in connection with the Event. 24 CHARTER BOATS A limited number of charter boats are available.
