Indefinite & Definite (م ع ر ف ة ( definite or (ن ك ر ة ( indefinite Like English, Arabic nouns can be An indefinite noun is indicated by,ت ن و ي ن which doubles the vowel sign at the end of the word, e.g. ك ت اب Abook ك ر س ي - Achair A Definite noun is indicated by ا ل prefixed to the noun.this also results in eliminating the ت ن و ي ن at the end of the word, e.g. ا ل ك ت اب - book The ا ل ك ر س ي - Thechair will be incorrect ا ل ك ت اب cannot coexist. Solar vs. Lunar Letters (1 of 2) 14 28 Consonant Letters This distinction is onlyfor pronunciation of words starting with these letters when prefixed with ال (the definite article) 14 Lunar Letters الح ر و ف الق م ر ي ة قم ر قمر ال Solar Letters الح ر و ف الش م س ي ة م س مس ال ش isش an example of a solar letter The letter ل IS NOTpronounced. The correct pronunciation is ash-shamsu, not al-shamsu The assimilation of isل indicated by the shaddah on the solar letter Articulation of solar letters involves the tip ت, س, ش, ن, ر e.g., of the tongue, isق an example of a lunar letter The letter ل ISpronounced.
