Location Information Where is it? The project will occur Statewide Project Summary Project Summary Please provide a couple sentence summary of the proposal. Purchase new liberation truck for the East Region. (ODFW) New truck will replace truck. 100 currently stationed in Bend. Proposal is for a three axle tractor w/fifth wheel only. tank. We intend to trade in truck. 100 and estimate $10,000 trade in value towards the new truck. Overall Project Goals Describe the primary goals or outcomes of the entire project, including elements not requesting funding from R&E. Purchase new liberation truck for East Region fish liberations to pull 2,800 gallon tanker. (Unit 07) Primary objectives of R&E funding Please describe the measurable objectives for the R&E portion of the funding request. Current Situation/Justification Please describe the current situation and explain why this funding is needed. Replacement of truck no. 100. Truck 100 is a 1991 international that has proven to be very unreliable mechanically. Ongoing repairs costs are exceeding truck value. Recreation and Commercial Benefit This project will provide benefits to: Recreational fisheries Commercial fisheries Explain how this project will contribute to current (and/or potential) fishing opportunities, access, or fisheries management. The liberation truck will become a key component to the East Region's liberation fleet and assist with the following anadromous fish transfers; Mid-Columbia Coho restoration project 950,000 Coho transferred from Cascade Hatchery and Willard NFH to Yakama Nation's Wenatchee basin; As a portion of the Lower Snake River Compensation Plan, 1,120,000 summer steelhead are transferred from Irrigon Hatchery to Wallowa and Cottonwood acclimation ponds. The East Region liberation team also is also contracted with the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla (CTUIR) to transfer; 700,000 Coho from Cascade Hatchery to Pendleton acclimation ponds. 600,000 fall Chinook are transferred from Bonneville Hatchery to Pendleton acclimation ponds, 150,000 spring Chinook transferred from Umatilla hatchery to the Umatilla river, 120 summer steelhead are transferred from Umatilla Hatchery to Umatilla acclimation ponds. 400,000 Spring Chinook salmon are transferred from Lookingglass Hatchery to acclimation ponds on the Lostine Page 2 of 7

River, Imnaha River, Upper Grande Ronde River, and Catherine creek. Trout- Nearly ten million trout are liberated annually into water bodies within the East Region accessible to the public. Is this project part of an approved Salmon-Trout Enhancement Program (STEP) activity? This project has been identified as a priority for: Basin/regional Identify any plan or other document that identifies this priority. Liberation truck to be used in the East Region assisting with the East Region's annual master fish transfer/stocking plan. This project is intended to benefit the following species: Fall Chinook Salmon Spring Chinook Salmon Coho Salmon Summer Steelhead Cutthroat Trout Rainbow Trout This project will benefit anglers or fishery by providing: Angling Opportunity Education/Outreach Monitoring/Research Hatcheries/Propagation/Liberation Angling Opportunity This project will: Improve the opportunity for anglers to catch fish (better stocked fish, trapping) Provide new opportunity for anglers to catch fish (new pond, more fish to stock more areas, new species) Restore a degraded fishery Education/Outreach This project will: Educate the public about angling opportunities and fisheries in Oregon The main focus of this project is to: Is this education/outreach associated with ODFW efforts? This education/outreach effort will target: Number of people targeted by this proposal: Estimate the average amount of time that each attendee will participate in the proposed effort.
