T h e C l u b a t F l y i n g H o r s e B o l d, B e a u t i f u l, W i l d l y O r i g i n a l CLUB CORNER The Club at Flying Horse PICKLEBALL Pickleball Tournament The growing national popularity of pickleball was certainly evident on Saturday morning, January 23, 2016. Sixteen Flying Horse Pickleball players rose early to compete in the first-ever Flying Horse Pickleball Round-Robin Tournament. Under the direction of George Lee and Richard Beard with official scoring assistance by Cindy Schwindt, each player played five games with different partners, a total of 20 matches over two hours. Participants rotated on the four match courts, accumulating up to 11 points per match. Fun was had. Refreshments were served. Play was exceptional. With an outstanding score of 48/55 points, Mary Burns received the handsome trophy as the Women's Champion. Marcus McKindra and Jim Schwindt both earned a perfect 55/55 points in the tournament, so a wicked playoff followed in which Marcus prevailed to capture the coveted Men's Championship trophy. Congratulations to all the participants. Well done, all! Will you be ready to compete in our next pickleball tournament? We hope so. You'd be most welcome. As a vital piece of our comprehensive social fitness program, Flying Horse Pickleball gathers for doubles play every Tuesday- Wednesday-Thursday morning, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.; and Saturday morning, 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. For more information, please contact George Lee at geonlinda@gmail.com, or Richard Beard at rbeard@flyinghorseclub.com.
