The Peter Munk Cardiac Centre (PMCC) at University Health Network (UHN) is an internationally recognized leader in cardiovascular care, making breakthrough discoveries in genetics, cardiac drug treatments and protocols, electrophysiology and cardiac disease management. Providing world-class cardiovascular care through multidisciplinary teams consisting of physicians, surgeons, nurses, pharmacists, dieticians and other allied health professionals, the PMCC offers resources and expertise to deal with even the most complex patient cases. Through constant innovation, the way that we treat cardiovascular disease is changing rapidly. The mission of the PMCC includes leading the world in the development and evaluation of innovative cardiac and vascular therapies. The PMCC Innovation Fund has been created with a purpose dedicated to the maintenance and acceleration of the development and evaluation of innovative cardiac and vascular therapies by the physicians at the PMCC. Funds raised at the PMCC are the cornerstone of discovery, development and evaluation of the newest therapies, which are frequently based on medical devices that are smaller and less invasive than their predecessors. These will permit physicians in the PMCC to care for patients who would otherwise not be candidates for any treatment. These innovative processes are oftentimes not funded by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. Philanthropic support is crucial to their development and implementation!
