The beat is on the River Taw in Devon and on the rear of each water colour there is a hand written description by Hopkins one signed FHP which reads "The Punch Bowl hole - On the Taw near the Southern Molton Road Station" and "The flat on the Taw near The Southern Molton Road Station" and in 1951 South Molton Road station was renamed Kings Nympton. These were illustrious opponents, but Bloxsom and Ferguson were unabashed and completed one of their rounds in 77, which stood as a record of the course for some time. Mrs Mary Stone, Bloxsom's granddaughter, has a very nice watercolour entitled The Punch Bowl, Hoylake which carries the inscription, Won from John Ball, July 1892', as a memento of this event.
