Persons refusing to obey the rules are subject to removal from the premises. - No diving is allowed. - No prolonged breath holding activities of any type are allowed. - Children ages 6-7 must be accompanied by an adult in the pool and pass a swimming test when not participating in a supervised activity. - Any child ages 5 and under or non-swimmers ages 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult, in the water, and within arm s reach. - All children ages 14 and under must take a YMCA swim test and follow band restrictions based on ability. - Pool use by persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs is prohibited. - People with seizure, heart or circulatory conditions should not swim alone. - Running and rough play are prohibited. Walk carefully on the pool deck. - First Aid Kit and emergency telephone are located in the pool office. Please notify the lifeguard on duty of any emergency. - A cleansing soap shower is required, including hair, before entering all pools per WAC 246-260-090. A swim or shower cap may be worn in lieu of wetting hair. - No one with open sores, bandages, communicable waterborne diseases or who has had vomiting/diarrhea in the past two (2) weeks is allowed in the pools. - All diapers must have a tight-fitting cover (plastic pants) as needed for incontinence and must be changed at designated diaper changing stations or in the locker rooms. - No food, gum or drink in pool area. - Appropriate, modest and properly fitting swimwear/bathing suits are required cotton based clothing is not allowed into the pools. Stay to the right moving counter-clockwise. - Let faster swimmer go ahead at the wall or allow them to pass on the left. - Please be aware of water joggers in the lane and pass on the left. POOL EQUIPMENT RULES - Lifeguards have authority to enforce appropriate behavior within the pool area. Persons refusing to obey the rules are subject to removal from the premises. - Pool equipment (fins, kickboards, hand paddles, etc.) is available for lap swimming only. - Water exercise equipment may be used outside of classes if used properly and safely. - Put fins on once in the water. Do not walk on the deck with fins on. - Be respectful of the equipment and return to storage after use. - Pool toys and noodles may be used at the discretion of the lifeguards on duty. CLASS DESCRIPTIONS: AQUA BOOT CAMP: High-intensity and low impact to give you a full body workout with cardio and strength training while utilizing the pool and deck. : Cardio fitness and strength set to lively music from a variety of dance genres while utilizing the pool and deck. : Basic yoga poses and breathing in the water; our goal is to stay in living relationship with our spirit, mind, and body while awakening our creative energies. CORE EXPRESS : Improve posture and physical function in this 30 minute version of our core class, as we focus on core strengthening exercises for abdominal and back muscles. : With a focus on core muscles and cardiovascular conditioning, you ll work your whole body in this water class. Flotation belts are available and basic swim skills are recommended. : Condition your overall body in this class designed to increase the range of motion in joints and strengthen muscles. MODIFIED : This low-impact class emphasizes cardiovascular fitness, muscle endurance, and flexibility at a moderate level. : Improve efficiency of the heart and lungs while increasing muscle strength, endurance, and flexibility. FLOATING BEYOND FEAR: If you often miss out on water-based activities because of fear, discomfort or avoidance, Floating Beyond Fear provides a safe and supporting environment to address your fear of water. Floating Beyond Fear is an eight-week, small group class led by facilitators who respect your process, personal story, and boundaries. It combines pool time with group discussions on how your body naturally interacts with water, tools for remaining calm, and floating skills. With the support and encouragement of those who understand your fear, you will work towards becoming confident around water.
