Page 3 of 6 Fire Fighting Instructions: Combustion or Decomposition Products: Wear protective clothing and self-contained breathing apparatus. Extinguish with foam, dry chemical, carbon dioxide. May cause dense smoke, oxides of carbon, nitrogen, sulphur, phosphorus and zinc. 6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES Chemtrec Emergency Number (24 hrs): (800) 424-9300 U.S. Coast Guard National Response Center: (800) 424-8802 Spill Procedures: Personal Protective Equipment must be worn; see Section 8 for recommendations. Ventilate area if spilled in confined space or other poorly ventilated areas. Prevent entry into sewers and waterways. Pick up free liquid for recycle and/or disposal. Residual liquid can be absorbed on inert material. Check under Transportation and Labeling (DOT/CERCLA) and Other Regulatory Information Section (SARA) for hazardous substances to determine regulatory reporting requirements for spills. 7. HANDLING AND STORAGE Handling and Storage: Avoid eye and prolonged skin contact as with all industrial materials. Wash thoroughly after handling. Follow all MSDS/label precautions after container is emptied because they may retain product residues. Store in a cool, dry place. Keep containers closed when not in use. Read and follow all precautions on product label 8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION Personal Protective Equipment Eye/Face Protection: Use chemical goggles or face shield. Respiratory Protection: Engineering Controls: Clothing Recommendation: Use NIOSH/MSHA approved full face respirator with an organic vapor cartridge if the recommended exposure limit is exceeded. Use self-contained breathing apparatus for entry into confined space, for other poorly ventilated areas and large spill clean-up sites. Good general ventilation should be sufficient to control airborne levels below exposure limits. A local exhaust is recommended in enclosed areas. Long sleeve shirt is recommended. Wear a chemically protective apron when contact with material may occur. Do not wear rings, watches or similar apparel that could entrap and cause a skin reaction.
