The Edge Change and success run hand-in-hand, and ACOEP is not averse to change in order to remain a dynamic association. Through the years we ve grown and developed, adapting to the times, responding to member input and, overall, evolving. It is this spirit of growth that inspired the name Emerge given to our Spring and Fall conferences a name embracing a period of change, evolution, and maturation. The journey of emergence has brought us to a precipice in emergency medicine, a place of unforeseen challenges and incredible opportunity. There is no roadmap as we journey into this uncharted territory; however as emergency physicians look to gain an edge, ACOEP will be a stalwart resource for its members. It s this unique point that inspires our new branding of all ACOEP conferences under one bold heading: The Edge. This is more than a name change and a new logo, The Edge is Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful people can change the world. For indeed it s the only thing that ever has. Margaret Mead the inspiration and the foundation upon which our educational opportunities will be based. To give you an edge to overcome new challenges; embrace the cutting edge of new technologies, opportunities and advancement; and journey together to the edge, generating creative thoughts, solutions and lasting advancement. This concept will be our cornerstone as we plan conventions, find new topics and explore new opportunities for our attendees. ACOEP COMMITTEE MEETINGS Tuesday Wednesday, April 22 23 Committee meetings are an excellent way to remain current on the business of ACOEP and emergency medicine. All members are welcome to attend and explore the many opportunities at ACOEP, from research to communications to continuing and undergraduate medical education. FOEM 5K RUN FOR RESEARCH* Wednesday, April 23 5:30 am 6:45 am Back for its third year, the FOEM 5K Run for Research has quickly become a favorite event of the Spring Seminar. Rise and shine for a brisk run to get the blood fl owing before another day of didactic sessions. All proceeds from the run benefi t FOEM and their mission of advancing research for osteopathic emergency medicine. All are welcome! *Optional; $50 fee (includes T-shirt) FOEM CASE STUDY POSTER COMPETITION Wednesday, April 23 12:30 pm 5:00 pm The Foundation for Osteopathic Emergency Medicine (FOEM) is proud to present the annual Case Study Poster Competition. Enjoy live presentations of interesting and unique cases in the emergency department, and earn CME credit just for attending! This exciting competition is open to all ACOEP residents and students and the top three presenters win cash prizes. 4.5 hours of CME credit may be earned by attending the presentations. EMS TRACK* Wednesday, April 23 1:00 pm 4:00 pm Emergency medical services is a fast-paced and ever-changing niche in emergency medicine. Stay abreast of the latest practices in emergency medical services with this interactive extra course. Provides three additional hours of 1A CME credit. *Optional; $25 registration fee for attending physicians; free for residents and students
2014 COLA REVIEW* Thursday, April 24 5:00 pm 10:00 pm A review of the premiering 2014 COLA Module will be offered during the Spring Seminar. Participants will have the opportunity to review the exam at the conclusion of the session. The course fee includes food and beverage refreshments and provides an additional 5 hours of Category 1A CME. *Optional; $200 fee ACOEP MEMBERSHIP MEETING Friday, April 25 12:30 pm 2:00 pm This annual meeting will provide an overview of the activities of the College over the last six months. Members will have the opportunity to communicate with the Board of Directors and give their input on the future direction of ACOEP. Attendance is documented for this meeting and is recorded toward the criteria for Fellowship.

CME Credit The Edge: Spring Seminar is pending approval from the American Osteopathic Association for 25 hours of Category 1A CME credit. Additional CME opportunities include five hours of Category 1A CME credit for the COLA review, 4.5 hours for the FOEM Poster Presentations, and three hours for an EMS Lecture Track. All credit for participation will be documented with attestation forms which can be found online. A link to this form will be sent to all attendees.
