October 216 SWEEPS REPORT ATLANTA November 1, 216 CHANNEL 2 WSB-TV, Atlanta s #1 TV Station Wins Every Newscast Time Period The October Nielsen Sweep concluded on Wednesday, October 26 th, a month dominated by Channel 2 WSB-TV in all hours of the day as programming increased in ratings both year-to-year and month-to-month. The Atlanta ABC Affiliate ranked #1 in 21 of 24 hours in the Monday-Friday monthly average ratings. It won every newscast by significant margins, often drawing more audience than the combined competition. The station s newscasts combined to attract 52% of the local news audience. WAGA came in a distant second with 31%, WXIA attracted 9%, and WGCL 8%. October 216 by the Numbers Channel 2 Action News This Morning from 4:3-7 a.m. attracted 21% more audience than all local news stations combined and out-delivered #2 WAGA by 75%. Every morning newscast grew month-to-month starting with 4:3 a.m. which grew 8% over September, up 21% at 5 a.m., up 14% at 5:3 a.m. and up 6% at 6 a.m.
October 216 SWEEPS REPORT ATLANTA November 1, 216 Good Morning America ranked #1 in its time period, out-delivered NBC s Today Show by 256% while it beat WAGA s Good Day Atlanta by 6%. The two-hour ABC program grew 14% over October 215 and 1% over last month. At Noon, WSB-TV delivered 45% more viewers than the competition combined and 129% more viewers than the second place local news station. Channel 2 Action News at 4 p.m. grew 8% year-to-year. At 5 p.m., Channel 2 Action News grew 5% over September 215 and it drew 25% more viewers than the second place local news station. At 6 p.m., Channel 2 Action News drew 6% more audience than second place WAGA. ABC s World News Tonight with David Muir grew 11% over last year and 8% over September 216. ET grew 25% over last year, 11% over last month and drew 78% more audience than rival TMZ. Jimmy Kimmel Live jumped 23% over October 215 and 14% over last month, handily winning late night talk with 79% more audience than The Tonight Show on NBC. The following programs also ranked #1 on WSB-TV: Live with Kelly, The Doctors, The View, The Chew, General Hospital and ABC s Nightline.
