From The Golf Course, Brian Wilkins Spring is just around the corner, or is it already here? With the odd weather patterns we have been experiencing it could be hard to tell. The greens on the course have already started growing again as well as fairways trying to green up in areas. There are still several dormant areas on the course that will stay wet as we should be expecting more rainy days as we move forward in the growing season. Please help us to minimize cart traffic in these areas as they typically like to hold water, and constant travel over the same areas causes severe damage resulting in poor or no turf growth. A bit of discretion goes along way in being able to provide everyone with good playing conditions. I will also be placing divot sand containers on the par three holes for use on tee boxes, also my staff and I will continue to fill divots as well on the tee boxes and course. Thanks to all for your continued support in making CCSC one of the best courses in the area. Repair of 25hp jockey pump irrigation system.

As we take off layers the swing gets longer and we tend to get fast. Take your time, it takes a certain amount of time for the club to get back to the ball. Work on your tempo and I think you will find your ball striking will improve. Also spring is a great time for a tune up and to check your grips. We offer full line club repair at the club.
5534 MARCH NEWSLETTER 2018 From the Tennis Center, Laszlo Leiter With spring moving in, the year has jump-started here at the CCSC tennis courts. The courts are filling up with both adult and junior tennis players. Our competitive juniors started playing tournaments already with great success. Florence hosted the Bruce's Yam Slam Junior tennis tournament last month. 7-year-old Mary Woods Swink won the 10 and under Orange ball division in singles and doubles, while her older sister Mahaley won the consolation draw in the Green ball division and the main draw in doubles. 10-year-old Davidson Lynch got second place in singles and first place in doubles with partner John Roland Dawkins. Congratulations and keep up the hard work! The one day warm up adult tournament saw lower numbers because of freezing temperatures. It didn't stop participants from having a good time and playing some good tennis. Those who played could enjoy some good food, tennis, and friendly conversations. We'll try again next year with hopes of warmer weather. Finally, the clay courts are getting their annual facelift this month. Six tons of clay will be added to the surface of courts to prevent deterioration. The projected day for this procedure is March 12, during which time the course will not be playable for a day. Afterwards though, the courts will look brand new, so it will be worth the wait.
