Georgia State fell to Little Rock 63-53 last month in Arkansas, but led 46-43 with just over 10 minutes to play in the game. In the last two games, Jeremy Hollowell is averaging 22.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per contest, shooting 50.0 percent from the floor. Senior Markus Crider recorded his first double-double of the season on Saturday at Troy, going for 13 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. Head coach Ron Hunter (100 wins) needs just eight more wins to become the all-time winningest coach in program history. Georgia State is 35-3 in the comfy confines of the GSU Sports Arena since the start of the 2013-14 season. At 6-8 in the Sun Belt, the Panthers enter play Thursday in seventh place, but just 2.5 games out of fourth and a first round bye. Since returning to the league, GSU is 38-14 in Sun Belt regular season games, going 17-1 (2013-14), 15-5 (2014-15) and 6-8 (2015-16). Georgia State s 7-2 non-conference record is the third-best in program history. Defensively, GSU is giving up just 64.6 points per game, No. 28 in the NCAA. Georgia State was one of just 20 programs in the country to have won 25 or more games in each of the last two seasons. Georgia State is 60-23 (.723) since Dec. 14, 2013. Georgia State, the two-time defending Sun Belt champions, was selected to finish second this year in the conference preseason poll. Markus Crider and T.J. Shipes have been a part of 78 wins, just 10 shy of the schoolrecord set just last year by Ryann Green. Pos # Name...Ht Wt Cl. Only 20 programs in the country have won at least 25 games in each of the last two years. That elite group includes: Kentucky, Duke, Michigan State, Arizona, Gonzaga, Louisville, Wichita State, Kansas, Wisconsin, Iowa State, Virginia, Villanova, VCU, Stephen F. Austin, San Diego State, N.C. Central, Louisiana Tech, SMU and Dayton. #SBC3PEAT? Since joining the Sun Belt two years ago, Georgia State has won back-to-back conference regular season titles and advanced to two conference tournament finals, winning last season to advance to the NCAA tournament. Since rejoining the league, the Panthers are 38-13 in Sun Belt Conference regular season games, going 17-1 in 2013-14, 15-5 in 2014-15 and starting 2015-16 with a 6-8 record. HOME SWEET HOME When coach Ron Hunter took over the Panthers, one of the first things he proclaimed was that the GSU Sports Arena would become one of the toughest places in the country. So far, he has been correct. The Panthers are 57-13 in the comfy confines of the Sports Arena since his arrival. The Panthers have gone 35-3 at home since the start of the 2013-14 season. During that span, Georgia State has put together an 18-game winning streak which ranks second-longest in school history and a 15-game home court winning streak that concluded on Jan. 16. That was the third-longest in program history. Here are the longest home court winning streaks in school history: 25 2-24-00 to 12-12-02 *3rd-longest streak in nation at time 18 11-9-13 to 1-5-14 (13-0 during 2013-14 season) 15 1-10-15 to 1-16-16 (last seven of 2014-15 season, first eight of 2015-16) 10 11-18-11 to 1-23-12 (first 10 games of the regular season) 8 1-5-98 to 2-24-98 (last eight games of regular season) CLOSING IN ON A LEGEND Head coach Ron Hunter owns the records for the most wins in his first season, first two seasons, first three seasons MOST WINS BY COACH and first four seasons of any coach in GSU program history. With Georgia State s 13 wins this season, Hunter is now at 100 wins, just the third coach to accomplish the feat. Driesell won 103 games in five-plus seasons before retiring mid-season. The school record is 107 wins by Bob Reinhart. ON TO THE PROS Georgia State lost three players to graduation last year and another to the NBA Draft. Three of the four individuals that left are now playing professionally. R.J. Hunter was selected with the 28th pick in the first round of the NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics, while Ryan Harrow is playing overseas in Greece. Curtis Washington already played professionally in Hong Kong before going to Argentina in the fall. This fall, he has seen time with the NBDL Maine Red Claws which are affiliated with the Boston Celtics, while also playing in Canada. Although not playing professionally, Ryann Green is doing just fine as he stayed at Georgia State to earn his Masters and is now working in the athletics department.

Georgia State Men s Basketball Notes (page 3) THE SERIES WITH LITTLE ROCK Georgia State and Little Rock will meet for the 23rd time on Thursday and for the second time this season on. After winning four-straight games in the series, the Trojans have won the last two, including a 63-53 decision in Arkansas last month. In the first game, Little Rock used a late second half run to top Georgia State as three Panthers finished in double figures. Georgia State led 46-43 with 10:24 to play before Little Rock used a 14-0 run and held the Panthers without a basket for more than nine minutes to take a 57-46 with 4:30 to play. THE WORLDWIDE LEADER For the first time in program history, all Georgia State home games will air live on ESPN3 this season. With the program s rise, nearly every game will be seen worldwide this year. Of the Panthers 29 games, 24 are currently scheduled to air live. Included in the listing was Georgia State s match-up at Ole Miss which aired on the SEC Network. Georgia State s games at UAB and at Southern Miss appeared on the American Sports Network. Georgia State s late-season match-up at Georgia Southern will air on ESPN2 as a part of Rivalry Week on the network. Last year, the Panthers appeared on ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPNU, TBS, TNT and the American Sports Network. He also lead the squad to a region championship. He has earned the school s Mr. Defense Award in 2013 and 2014 and the squad s 2015 Panther Award. GOING BAREFOOT Coach Ron Hunter once again coached a game barefoot in support of Samaritan s Feet. The Panthers topped UL Monroe 65-51 on Jan. 14 as Hunter always tries to schedule the game as close to the Martin Luther King Jr. observance day. The Panthers are 5-0 when Hunter has gone without socks and shoes to raise awareness for the 300 million children around the world without shoes. This marked the ninth straight year Hunter has gone barefoot for a game. As part of his work with Samaritan s Feet, Georgia State travelled to Costa Rica in August 2014, doing a pair of shoe distributions during its eight-day road trip. 638 AND COUNTING Georgia State has made at least one 3-point field goal in 638 straight games, dating back to the 1994-95 season. The last team to hold the Panthers without a trey was Stetson on Feb. 18, 1995. NEXT UP Georgia State will continue its brief two-game homestand facing Arkansas State in the GSU Sports Arena on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. live on ESPN3. LET S GO STREAKING! Georgia State Men s Basketball Notes (page 7) HEAD COACH RON HUNTER In four seasons, Ron Hunter has changed the national perception of Georgia State; winning 87 games and advancing to the postseason three teams. It was highlighed last year by winning 25 games for a second year in a row and advancing to the third round of the NCAA tournament following the shocking upset of No. 3-seed Baylor. The 87 wins are the most in any fouryear stretch in program history. Georgia State has entered elite status by winning 25 or more games in each of the last two years, an accomplishment only reached by 20 programs in the entire country. Hunter is now responsible for three of the four winningest seasons in program history and half of the school s postseason appearances. After winning the Sun Belt regular season title for the second straight season in 2014-15, the Panthers claimed the tournament title, just the third for the program to advance to the NCAA tournament. In the postgame celebration, Hunter tore his Achillies, a clip that went viral across the nation. Coaching in the NCAA tournament from a stool, the Panthers trailed by 12 with 2:53 to play, before mounting a furious 13-0 run, capped by a 30-foot 3-pointer from son R.J. that sent Hunter off his stool and became one of the most watched clips of the tournament and a part of One Shining Moment. Although successful in his first two seasons at the helm, the Panthers started to pile up the wins during the 2013-14 season. Winning 25 games, second most in school history, Georgia State earned a Sun Belt regular season championship and an appearance in the Postseason NIT. During the season, the Panthers won a school-record 14-straight games, including a stretch of 22 of 23, as Hunter was named Sun Belt Coach of the Year and NABC Region 24 Coach of the Year. During his first season (2011-12), Georgia State won 22 games, the third most in school history, advancing to the second round of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. Hunter has won 361 games in 21 seasons, but the accomplishments made by the 2011-12 team will always be special for him. After being named head coach on March 21, 2011, he built a squad that finished in the top 20 in the nation in scoring defense, defensive shooting percentage, steals and blocked shots, as six seniors finished their careers triumpently. Following the record-setting season, Hunter was named Atlanta Tip-off Club Georgia Coach of the Year, while his players earned a recordnumber of conference and national awards. National notoriety is nothing new for Hunter. While at IUPUI, he was lauded for his humanitarian efforts, partnering with Samaritan s Feet, an organization that collects shoes for underprivileged children around the world. He continued that work in Atlanta, coaching the Panthers while barefoot to victory over UNCW in front of the largest crowd in the Sports Arena since 2007. While leading IUPUI to 25 or more wins in two of his final four seasons, Hunter began to partner with Samaritan s Feet, an organization that collects shoes for underprivileged children around the world. On Jan. 24, 2008, he coached IUPUI against Oakland in his bare feet to help raise awareness for the cause. By tipoff, Hunter s efforts had raised more than 100,000 pairs of shoes, and to date, that number has climbed well above 250,000. During his first season at Georgia State, Hunter led the Panthers to the second round of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament, just the fourth time GSU earned a postseason bid. The Panthers opened the tournament at home, another first, hosting a postseason contest and earning an impressive 74-43 victory against Tennessee Tech. Earlier in the year, Hunter s squad won 11 straight games, earning impressive victories over CAA preseason favorite Drexel and at VCU. The streak included wins of 32, 32 and 31 points. Hunter, 51, earned his bachelor s degree in education at Miami in 1986 and added a master s in 1987. He was a standout player on strong Miami teams of the mid-1980s, along with high school and college teammate Ron Harper, who went on to a long NBA career. The Redhawks were 81-30 during Hunter s four-year career and earned three consecutive NCAA Tournament berths while winning two MAC championships. Hunter and his wife, Amy, have two children, Jasmine (25) and R.J. (22), a first year player for the Boston Celtics.
