Leg #1 (GUNLOCK AND LOADED)- 6.07 Miles Difficulty: Easy to Moderate This is a nice leg for those who like running downhill. It s a beautiful run down the Santa Clara River canyon to the point where the road connects with US Hwy 91. Scenery: 9 Not only do you get to see the beautiful Gunlock State Park at the start but you run through some pretty amazing mountainous area. Runner Directions: RUNNERS MUST STAY ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROADWAY. This road is open to traffic, although it s not heavily traveled. Runners not on the left side will be assessed a 30-min. team penalty. The race will start under the arch at Gunlock Reservoir. You will turn right onto Gunlock Road, and run for 5.82 miles to the exchange at the intersection of Highway 91 and Gunlock Road.

Leg #2- (Red Rock N ROLL) 5.22 Miles Difficulty: Moderate A little bit more uphill then leg #1 but overall downhill quite a bit on a once again winding road. Not many directions and a longer millage leg so send your studs and let them roll! Scenery: 6 Some really beautiful big red mountains of Ivins on this leg and you get to go through the Shiviwits Indian Reservation, overall lots of big wide open desert land. Runner Directions: While still mostly downhill on this leg, you ll find a few challenging uphill sections. When you come out of the canyon, you ll be rewarded with great views of the red rock cliffs that surround Kayenta and Ivins. On this leg, you ll run through the Shivwits Indian Reservation, home to the oldest known tribe in Southern Utah. Remember, stay on the left side of the road! Just short of 4 miles, you ll turn left onto 400 South. The transition to Leg 3 is just over 6/10 of a mile from the turn, and is located in Unity Park in Ivins.

Leg #3- (NAVIGATORS NIGHTMARE) 5.71 Miles Difficulty: Moderate This is the leg where you ll need a team member who is NOT directionally challenged! We have detailed the turns for you, and they ll all be well marked with chalk, but still pay attention! Scenery: 8 Some spectacular mountain ranges and background to check out when you re not making a left turn Runner Directions: (You will leave Unity Park and make an immediate right onto 200 West, then go ½-mile to Highway 91. Turn left on Highway 91 (REMEMBER, STAY ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD) to Pioneer Parkway, which is about ¾-mile down the road. Turn left onto Pioneer Parkway. At just under one mile from the last turn, you will run past Harmon s Grocery. When you reach the bottom of the hill past Harmon s, you ll find a paved path. Stay on the path until you reach the next road, Little League Drive. Turn left onto Little League Drive (Snow Canyon High School will be on your right), and run up to Lava Flow Drive. Turn left on Lava Flow Drive to the next street, which is once again, Pioneer Parkway/2000 North; turn right. Stay on the right for two blocks until you reach Tuweap Drive; turn left on Tuweap. You now need to be on the RIGHT side of the road, until you see the bike path at N 2100 W. This bike path will take you around the end of the softball complex, and under Snow Canyon Parkway to the parking lot, where the next transition area is located.

Leg #4- (DIXIE STAMPEDE) 5.21 Miles Difficulty: Easy to Moderate When you leave the transition area, you will follow the bike path along Snow Canyon Parkway and through the neighborhoods for roughly 3 miles, until you reach Dixie Drive. Snow Canyon is basically flat, then you ll have a good 3.5 miles of downhill until you reach the next transition. Scenery: 5 Runner Directions: You ll leave the transition area on the bike path heading north, and slightly uphill for just over 1.5 miles You will pass the entrance to Paradise Cove Subdivision, at a street called Great Basin Drive. At this point the path will go sharply uphill. About 400-500 ahead, you will turn left onto another path, then go down and under the bridge. Now you ll be heading south. Stay on this path, heading downhill, for 1.37 until you get to Dixie Drive. Using the sidewalk, go left down Dixie Dr. for about 1.6 miles. You will cross Valley View Drive at the stoplight, then continue down the sidewalk for just under one mile until you reach Cottonwood Cove Park, where the next transition is located.

Leg #5- (MAN O WARRIOR) 3.94 Miles Difficulty: Moderate This is a relatively short leg with one climb that will take some effort, but after the climb it s all downhill to the transition. Scenery: 6 Runner Directions: You ll leave the transition and follow the path for 1.75 miles past the cemetery to Confluence Park. As you pass the Nature Center on your left and the tennis courts on your right, go left on the path and follow it as it goes under Dixie Drive. At the top of the little hill, turn left and head to the roundabout, then go right up the hill on Tonaquint Drive. You ll crest the hill, then run to the bottom and turn left on Bloomington Dr. About ½-mile down Bloomington Drive, you ll run into some road construction. Be careful, and stay to the left. This construction area is only about 500 yards. As you come to the next corner, go left and then left again into the transition area in the Man o War Park parking lot.

Leg #6 (Trails Trails and Llama Tails)- 3.86 Miles Difficulty: Easy This short, flat and fast leg will take you along the Virgin River Trail, as you turn north and come to the half-way point. Scenery:7 Runner Directions: Run the bike path from Man o War Park to Confluence Park, a distance of 2.2 miles with no turns. As you approach Confluence Park, you ll go over the bridge that crosses Santa Clara Creek, then make an immediate right. Stay on the trail for another 1.7 miles to the next transition Leg #7

(River Me Timbers)- 4.96 Miles Difficulty: Easy Another flat, fast run; you ll be on the Virgin River Trail for 90% of the leg, then you ll have a short 1- miler along East Riverside Drive before getting back on the trail.! Scenery:6 Runner Directions: You ll run the Virgin River Bike Path for less than ½-mile, then, due to some construction, you ll have a 100-yard dirt obstacle to get past. Once over the dirt area, you ll go under River Road and follow the path until it ends at Waterfront Drive; about 2.2 miles. When you come to Waterfront Drive, go right for 2/10 of a mile, up to East Riverside Drive. Turn right and stay on the sidewalk. As you come to the top of the rise just after 150 North, the Virgin River Trail goes off to the right. Get back on the trail for about 1.25 miles, then you ll cross a small bridge and go under the road and up to the soccer park, where the transition is located. Virgin River Trail

Leg #8 (THAT WAS WASHINGTON DAM EASY)- 3.9 Miles Difficulty: Moderate This is a great run! You ll stay on the paved trail through rolling hills and a beautiful section of the Virgin River, with no cars and wonderful, peaceful scenery. Scenery: 9 Some good stuff all around as you get the boardwalk trail, farmland, mountains, maybe even some cows running around, GOOD STUFF! Runner Directions: As you come out of the transition area, you ll head north on the newest section of the Virgin River Trail. NOTE: This is a change from last year. It s roughly 2 miles to the end of the paved trail (make sure you follow the river, and don t make any left turns or you ll end up far off-course!). At the end of the paved trail, you ll transition onto a dirt road for about 300 yards, then turn right across the bridge onto South Country Road. This short road ends at Washington Dam Road. Turn left and stay on the shoulder for roughly 1 mile to the transition at the corner of Washington Dam Road and East Highway 7. Trail with the boardwalk Washington Dam Rd.

Leg #9 (THE DIRTY CLIMBER )- 5.9 Miles Difficulty: Strenuous Probably the most difficult leg of the race, this one has dirt, hills and a road with three different names! But you won t have any cars to deal with for most of the run. Scenery: 10 Runner Directions: You ll continue straight on Washington Dam Road, which turns (at some point) into Pecon Road, and eventually into Turf Sod Road. You ll wind through the hills, and there are some smaller roads and trails, but you ll be fine if you stay on the main road. The good news: After about 3.5 miles of dirt, you ll be back on pavement (which should be Turf Sod Road). Follow Turf Sod all the way out to Sand Hollow Road. Then turn right onto Sand Hollow Road for.9 miles, until you get to the exchange at Dixie Springs Drive (this will be an Air Exchange ). BE SURE TO STOP WHEN YOU GET TO THE INTERSECTION; THE RACE STAFF WILL CALL YOUR NUMBER, AND YOUR LAST LEG RUNNER WILL THEN BE ABLE TO START THE FINAL LEG.

Leg #10 (SAND FINALE) 7.20 Miles Difficulty: Long and Moderate This is the longest leg of the race, but as the final runner you get to cross the finish line to the cheers of the crowds! It s a great run around the back side of Sand Hollow Reservoir, with fabulous scenery and if the wind is blowing a bit of naturally exfoliating sand to contend with on the road. Scenery: 10 Incredible breathtaking scenery coming into the finish area. ENJOY!!!!!!!!!! Runner Directions: After the Air Exchange, you ll run down Dixie Springs Drive for 1.4 miles to 3400 W, where you ll turn right and run into the park. Follow the trail around the lake, all the way toward the back boat-ramp, to the road next to the dam. Make a right turn onto the road on the side of the dam for 1 mile. When you get to the main road that goes into Sand Hollow State Park, make a right turn onto the main road for.3 miles then head to the FINISH by the bathrooms on the front side of the lake. LAST RUNNER: MAKE SURE YOU RE WEARING YOUR RACE BIB NUMBER YOU FINISH! AND REMEMBER, YOU MUST STAY ON THE LEFT SHOULDER OF SAND HOLLOW ROAD THE ENTIRE WAY.
