Conner Menez (2-1, 3.72) is slated to start on the mound for the Giants tonight. San Jose dropped three out of four games to Visalia in their only previous meeting this season (April 18-20 at Muni). Four Straight Losses The Giants enter tonight s contest having lost four games in a row their longest losing streak of the season. San Jose is 8-19 in their last 27 games following a 7-4 start to the year. Tough Homestand The Giants completed a 1-6 homestand yesterday. San Jose lost two out of three games to Rancho Cucamonga to begin the homestand before getting swept in a four-game set by Inland Empire. The Giants hit just.213 as a team and averaged 2.6 runs per game during the homestand. San Jose has lost 13 out of their last 16 home games. Their 6-14 mark at Municipal Stadium this season is the worst home record in the league. LAST GAME May 15 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 - R H E Inland Emp. 0 2 0 0 1 1 0 1 0-5 9 0 San Jose 0 0 0 1 0 2 0 0 1-4 12 0 WP: Rodriguez (4-2) LP: McCasland (0-4) S: Holland (4) San Jose s late comeback effort fell short in a 5-4 loss to the Inland Empire 66ers on Monday afternoon at Municipal Stadium. The Giants scored once in the bottom of the ninth and had the potential tying run at third with two outs before the Sixers closed out the win. With the defeat, San Jose was swept in the four-game series. Gio Brusa (2-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI) had a pair of run-scoring hits to lead the Giants offensively. Daniel Carbonell (2-for-5, 2B), Ryan Howard (2-for-4, RBI), Bryan Reynolds (2-for-5, 2B) and Dillon Dobson (2- for-4) added two hits apiece. San Jose out-hit Inland Empire 12-9. Giants starter Jake McCasland suffered the loss after allowing three runs (all earned) over the first five innings. McCasland surrendered six hits, walked four and struck out five. Rec Park Series Win Drought The Giants haven t won a series at Visalia s Recreation Park since the opening weekend of the 2013 season (won three of four games). Since that series victory, San Jose has gone just 12-33 at Rec Park during the regular season with eight series losses and three series splits. The Giants are only 6-24 in their last 30 regular season games in Visalia dating back to June 2014. Heath Quinn Joins Giants Outfielder Heath Quinn was added to San Jose s roster yesterday from Extended Spring Training. Quinn went 1-for-4 with a double yesterday in his 2017 debut. Quinn was selected by the SF Giants in the third round of the 2016 draft and is currently rated the #7 prospect in the organization by MLB.com. Last season, Quinn finished second in the Northwest League in batting average (.337) and home runs (9) while playing for the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. He then joined San Jose during the final weekend of the regular season last year (.353 AVG, 6-for-17 in four games). On The Road Tonight begins a stretch for the Giants playing 10 out of their next 12 games on the road. San Jose is 9-9 on the road this year. The Giants are batting.254 as a team (5.7 runs/game) with a 5.43 ERA on the road (.233 AVG, 3.6 runs/game, 4.04 ERA at home). Pitching Notes Giants starting pitchers own a 5.77 ERA (104 ER/162.1 IP) and a 7-21 record this season. A San Jose starter has pitched past the fifth inning in only seven out of 38 games this year. The Giants bullpen has a 3.72 ERA and the fewest blown saves (2) in the league. Score First The Giants are 13-5 when scoring first in a game this year compared to 2-18 when their opponent scores first. Walk This Way The San Jose pitching staff has issued 204 walks this season (5.4 per game) to lead all of Minor League Baseball. The Giants are averaging 5.9 walks per game in May after issuing 5.0 walks per contest during the month of April. San Francisco Affiliation This year marks San Jose s 30th season as an affiliate of the San Francisco Giants the longest current partnership in the California League. Since their inception in 1988, the San Jose Giants have won six league championships (1998, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010), 11 North Division titles and qualified for the playoffs 22 times (in 29 seasons).
