HALF MARATHON NEWS UPDATE Jan and Suzie Randle were in luck(?) as the snow melted just in time for them to run the Cambridge half marathon last Sunday 4 th March in aid of this season s two charities Wren Spinney Community Special School & Johnny s Happy Place. seemed like a good idea at the time never again Jan Randle 2018 Thanks to everyone who has donated so far towards a magnificent running total of 374.00! However, if there is anyone whose arm Jannie is yet to twist and feels they could spare a pound or two, please hand in some pennies to your captain or use the a/c details below to pay online 30-94-68 00998207 with Name and Marathon as reference It would be great to hit the target of 500 and be able to donate 250 to each worthy cause So, get donating people!!

JUNIOR TEAM NEWS by Emma Storey Both Kettering s U12 and U10 girls teams recently qualified into their respective age group regional finals which will be held at Beeston Hockey Club on separate dates in April. All details are in the process of being sent out to the necessary players. Well done to the girls who performed brilliantly at the qualifiers; bring on the next round! The junior presentation evening has been booked for Friday April 27th at the clubhouse, further details to be confirmed so please keep the date free. There are many awards to be given out and it will be the perfect opportunity to celebrate this year s successful season. Finally, towards the end of the season we are hoping to enter an U18 mixed team into a fun tournament so keep your eyes out for when the details come through. Editor note - Our junior section has been extremely active during the season with fixtures and tournaments practically every Sunday. A huge thank you goes to Emma and Louise Storey and their dedicated band of helpers who are ensuring the future of our fabulous club. MENS SUMMER LEAGUE by Barry Coe The men are looking to run an internal seven a side League in the summer. Four teams, six weeks, everybody plays everyone else twice. Twenty minutes each way. This is a great opportunity to mix all the players up. Once we have gauged interest we will have an American style draft system to sort out even sides. Cost will get to just cover the pitch hire and a bit of Umpiring. If you are interested make sure you contact Ant Paton anthonypaton@hotmail.com

VETERANS NEWS Our Men s Veterans team have reached the EH Cup semi-finals and will play Marsden Russets on the 11 th March at the Marsden Russets pitch near Tonbridge wells in Kent. Their final practice for this game was an exciting game against the LX over 65 team which ended with a 1 1 draw. you could have just said if you wanted a rest Geoff! We wish them the best of luck in their semi as we re looking forward to another away day for the final!

UMPIRES - Executive news The Executive Committee, in response to a proposal from one of our lovely members, has agreed to purchase umpiring shirts as a reward for our dedicated umpiring team. Backdated to the start of this season if you do 10 games you qualify for a free umpiring shirt in a colour we choose (it ll be yellow or green I guess, we haven t decided). When you do another 10 you will qualify for another one. Now, some lightweight umpires (that s you Tom) may prefer a jacket. Because of that we will give the umpire the option to upgrade their shirt to a jacket with the umpire making up the difference in cost. The Exec think this is a great opportunity to reward our hard-working umpires. I m sure you will agree that we obviously can t play without our umpires and they do a sterling job in all weathers. This will make our umpires stand out for all the right reasons. Opposition teams often complement our umpires and long may it continue. Upcoming club nights get your party on! 17 th March Beer Barrel evening 2 barrels of real ale at the Club tuck in! 24 th March Informal club night End of season, relax and socialise! 14 th April Awards Dinner at Wicky s dust off your glad rags! Music Magpie Thanks for all your donations of bric-a-brac, sadly it only raised 20 (looks like MM are getting more picky!) Never mind, all is not lost as we donated all the outstanding items to Cransley Hospice who will hopefully benefit from them.
