From The President Fellow Sportsmen & Women of the Tonawandas Sportsmen s Club, I am happy to announce general membership has grown past 500! With so many new members SAFETY is job one. All shots must be taken safely whether on the range or at the bar. Please remember the range rules (indoor and outdoor) apply to EVERYONE! This is our second home, please treat it as such. The Bob C. twins (Catalano/Carmichael) are a go-to source for pistol help along with Rick Hantz. Members having any questions on the use of our Club, please contact Don LeDonne (Membership Secretary) or Dave Notaro (VP). Progress is being made on the rifle range upgrade along with other much needed projects. The Steel Challenge shooting will be happening soon as the targets are expected in April. Please be patient. The committee members work very hard to improve our Club; please do your part by supporting our fundraisers. Lottery calendars are still available and can offer a good return on investment. Stop in for Friday night dinner and hydration. Support your Club. March 30th is a Good Friday to show off your shot gunning talent at the Ironman Shoot, especially if you don t fare well at the Frostbite Skeet Shoot March 17th. No guests are allowed to Hunt - Deer, Turkey, Rabbit, Goose, Duck, etc. Exception: Pheasant hunting (during morning hunt hours on Saturday and Sunday only if the guest is with a Member and has permission of the 351 coordinator). This is allowed due to the additional cost involved in Pheasant hunting. Many of our maps are broken into Zones (for Pheasant hunting purposes). Some maps show a Zone #10 (right / east of the Zone #9 field) which is not TSC property. Zone 10 CANNOT be entered by TSC Members it is private land. This property is leased by TSC from the owner for PHEASANT HUNTING ONLY (from mid-december to mid-april only). Notes: 1) Members CANNOT drive onto TSC property that is not graded for parking. 2) Members are NOT allowed to use personal ATV s or Snow Mobiles on TSC property. 3) 351 will not release Pheasants in Zones 6+7 (North of the Railroad Bed) during Deer Bow and Shot Gun season (so minimal Pheasant Hunters will be in those fields throughout the Deer Bow and Shot Gun season thus leaving it more pleasurable to Deer Hunt in that area). 4

We shoot single action pistols, lever action rifles and side by side shotguns at metal targets for time and accuracy. The targets are large and close but even the best of us can miss a target every so often. You can shoot Smokeless or Black powder in our matches. We would be having a match once a month during the summer. We also try to look the part - minimal requirements would be a long sleeve shirt, jeans, boots and a wide brim hat (preferably a cowboy hat). You would also need a set of leather holsters for the revolvers. We have 4 members so far and if you think that you would like to join us, call Terry Schultz at 693-3237, or Rick Wood at 544-1638. There is a web site for the governing body for CAS that has a bunch of information about CAS at: http://www.sassnet.com/. You can call either Terry or Rick for more details we would be happy to talk about it. If you have not taken the Course, you cannot use the Rifle Range until you do (and have received the required Lanyard and signed Safety course card). If you see someone is on the Range without the Lanyard, there are four possibilities: 1) The person has taken the course and forgot to bring their Lanyard. They should be advised that wearing the Lanyard is mandatory - shooting without it will NOT be allowed. They should leave. 2) The person has not taken the course and they should be advised that they cannot shoot on the Range until the course is taken. They should leave. 3) The person is not a member of the Club and must be told to leave immediately. 4) The person on the Range is part of a Rental Agency for that day. They usually are in uniform and do not need to have a TSC Lanyard while shooting. If you have any questions on the Course, the Lanyard or use of the Range, contact a Board member. TSC SHOTGUN PATTERNING BOARD REFURBISHED The Shotgun Pattering Board has been refurbished by TSC life member and ATA All American, Dave Hazelet. It is located to the left of Skeet Field #1. The Patterning board can help Trap or Skeet Shooters find their guns point of Impact. This is important in finding where your guns shot pattern is in relation to the clay target. Try it sometime. You should grease the steel plate face and then place a spent (used) shotgun shell on the the center peg. Then, stand approximately even with the back side of Trap house #1. Shoot 2 or 3 rounds at the spent shell. If your pattern is high or low or too far left or right, you can adjust the comb or vent rib, and retry your shot. Hopefully, this will result in more shot reaching the clay target. Dave has supplied Gray Grease and a roller located behind the board to refresh The board before use. Please remember to use lead shot only. Steel shot and Deer slugs are not to be used, as they could damage the board. Keep on shooting!! TSC ATA Committee P.S. More Information on Point of Impact in next months Sportscaster. To all Pistol Shooters: Still looking for someone to help Bob & I with all League duties. Without additional help, we will need to cancel events on dates when Bob and I are not available. If interested in helping, please see me. March: Indoor TSC 900 matches: Saturday 3/3, 3/10, 3/17, 3/24 & 3/31 Final Match (9am signup / 10am start shoot) March: Indoor Wednesday Night Bullseye shooting: Wednesday 3/7, 3/14, 3/21 & 3/28 (6:30pm 7:30pm) Thanks, Ron Jurewicz C: 716-417-6654 rmjjurewicz@gmail.com 10
