RACE 1 Pluck@Vinery Handicap 1000m Swelt shifted its off fore plate as the runners were leaving the enclosure and as a result, this required the plate to be refitted. Swelt then underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Sneak Preview became fractious in the barriers and got its near hind leg cast on the back of the barriers. Acting on veterinary advice, Sneak Preview was ruled unfit to start and as such, the colt was a late withdrawal at 1.39pm. The Stewards ruled that all monies invested on Sneak Preview be refunded in full and that all successful wagers made prior to 1.39pm be subject to the following deductions in the face value of each ticket. 1 st Lean Mean Machine 5 cents win, 5 cents place 2 nd Munich 6 cents place Trainer Mr M Newnham was advised that Sneak Preview would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to being permitted to race again. Due to the circumstances involving Swelt and Sneak Preview, the start of the race was delayed. Hiemal began awkwardly. RACE 2 #Theraces Plate 1200m Dinnigan when fractious in the tie up stalls sustained a minor laceration to the off side of its neck and was cleared to start after undergoing a veterinary examination. A post race veterinary examination of Dinnigan, which was resuming from a spell and weakened over the final 50m, revealed no abnormalities. Secret Diamond began awkwardly, then was shifted in and across behind runners shortly after the start. Ritzy Roxie began awkwardly, then was shifted in and across behind runners shortly after the start. Everlasting Love which was commencing to close the race off well, was inclined to race greenly over the final 200m. RACE 3 TAB Handicap(1000m Sangita was slow to begin and then shortly after was crowded for room between Not A Zin Zan and Zenardini, both of which shifted some ground. When questioned, K McEvoy said that after being slow to begin and racing at the rear of the field, his mount commenced to improve well approaching the home turn. He said that at this time, Timid, which had been racing wide and without cover, was under pressure and as he observed that horse had a tendency to shift out, rather than being carried wide and without cover, he elected to pursue runs to its inside and trail El Dorado Dreaming. He said that rounding the home turn, he briefly considered his options whether to improve to the inside of El Dorado Dreaming or alternatively shift to that horse's outside. He said that whilst he was commencing to shift to the outside of El Dorado Dreaming after considering that that would be the best option, El Dorado Dreaming shifted out abruptly which resulted in him not being able to place his mount under full pressure in the early part of the straight. He said that Sangita then took some distance after the 300m to adequately shift to the outside of El Dorado Dreaming and after obtaining clear running near the 200m, he soon after commenced to place the filly under full pressure to which Sangita responded strongly. K McEvoy added that, however, his riding of Sangita over the final 40m was impaired when El Dorado Dreaming shifted out again abruptly which resulted in him being unable to fully test his mount during this period. K McEvoy's explanations were noted. Starry began awkwardly. Madam Rouge began awkwardly and got its head up. Buckle Up Baby slow to begin. Zenardini slow to begin, then crowded and was then shifted in and across behind runners shortly after the start. Approaching and passing the 100m, Zenardini experienced difficulty obtaining clear running and had to be shifted to the inside of Fallgold to continue improving after securing clear running approaching the 50m. When questioned, T Clark explained that after the circumstances of the start resulted in his mount travelling at the rear of the field, which was contrary to the pre-race plan of racing just behind the speed, his mount, which was dropping back in distance slightly from its first start, then failed to muster speed despite his endeavours and as a result raced towards the rear of the field. Near the 600m, Zenardini shifted out abruptly became unbalanced and inconvenienced Sangita. Timid slow to begin. Timid raced wide and without cover for the majority of the race. Timid raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Timid, over the latter stages, could not be tested when awkwardly placed on the heels of Sangita, which was taken out. El Dorado Dreaming near the 800m, was eased and shifted out across the heels of Starry (B Shinn), which shifted in when not properly clear. B Shinn was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances and to ensure he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground of other runners. On straightening, when initially placed under pressure, El Dorado Dreaming shifted out abruptly.
Zerchois bumped with Starry near the 50m. abnormalities. A post race veterinary examination revealed no Dream Child over the latter stages, laid out under pressure resulting in Fallgold being inconvenienced and carried wider. Not A Zin Zan a post race veterinary examination revealed Not A Zin Zan to have abraded both hind bumpers. RACE 4 Australian Turf Club Plate 1200m Dissolution made heavy contact with Stryke Rock at the start which resulted in Stryke Rock shifting in. Tunero, which was drawn to the inside of Stryke Rock, was buffeted for room between that horse and Good Thoughts. Dissolution raced wide and without cover after the 600m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Think Straight slow to begin. Near the 150m, Think Straight, when closing the race off well, shifted out and became awkwardly placed on the heels of Blazeray and had to be corrected by its rider. Think Straight then continued to lay out over the final 100m. Good Thoughts near the 1000m was steadied to avoid the heels of My Zebrinka, which shifted out slightly. Near the 900m, Good Thoughts blundered and became unbalanced. Don't Over Think when questioned regarding the disappointing performance of Don't Over Think, C Brown said that the gelding, which was resuming from a spell and had only had one barrier trial this preparation, worked aggressively during its preliminary and raced similarly today. He said that from the very initial stages of the race, Don't Over Think raced very keenly, got its head up on a number of occasions and refused to settle. He said that he believed the manner in which Don't Over Think raced was the principal reason for the gelding weakening significantly over the final 200m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. RACE 5 Tab.com.au Handicap 1400m Forbidden Kisses from its wide barrier, was steadied and shifted in and across behind runners shortly after the start. Rock On Zariz raced wide and without cover throughout. Near the 250m, Rock On Zariz was steadied when crowded for room by Elouera which ran out away from Forbidden Kisses, which shifted out acutely after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of It s Time For Magic. Elouera a post race veterinary examination revealed Elouera to be lame (1/5) in the off fore leg. Cotrainer Mr R Price was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again. RACE 6 Pierro@Coolmore Australia Mile 1600m Whilst undergoing routine pre-race blood sampling, Weekend Affair sustained a haematoma and was ruled not suitable to race by the Racing NSW veterinary officer. When relaying this information to the Stewards, the veterinary officer, after failing to confirm the identity of the horse, incorrectly advised that Takewing, an engaged runner in this race, was the horse to be scratched and accordingly it was withdrawn at 3.58pm. A short time later, the Stewards became aware of this error and after interviewing trainer Mr J Coyle, trainer of both Takewing and Weekend Affair, and Racing NSW official veterinary officer Dr T Selig, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Weekend Affair at 4.10pm. A review of the circumstances surrounding this incident has commenced and a report will be provided to the Manager of Integrity. Egyptian Ruler from its wide barrier, was steadied and shifted in across behind runners shortly after the start. Lani Girl from its wide barrier, was steadied and shifted in across behind runners shortly after the start.
Another Larga raced wide and without cover throughout. revealed no abnormalities. A post race veterinary examination Ardanza shifted in near the 250m and bumped Sir Barb. Weather With You K McEvoy said that he had been asked to ride the horse, which was having its first start in New South Wales, in second position if possible. He said that after obtaining a position outside the leader, Reiby The Red, and near 1200m, his mount commenced to race keenly and finished the race off only fairly. He said that in his view, Weather With You may be better suited when able to dictate terms in front. Sir Barb when questioned regarding the disappointing performance of Sir Barb, J Collett said that his mount was under pressure prior to the home turn, which was not in keeping with its last two starts whereby it travelled strongly to the home turn and finished its races off strongly. He said that the only explanation he could offer for the performance today was that Sir Barb might be better suited on firmer surfaces than that of today. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. RACE 7 Ranvet Neutrolene Handicap 1200m Spirit And Fire trainer Ms A Grives was fined $200 under LR35(2) for failing to declare App R King as the rider of that gelding by the prescribed time. Spirit And Fire commenced to race keenly near the 1000m and had to be restrained when awkwardly placed on the heels of Mana. Bezel began awkwardly and then was shifted back in and across behind runners from its wide barrier after the start. Mandalong Kiss began awkwardly. Whispered Secret was slow to begin and then despite being ridden along, did not muster speed and became detached from the field when being shifted back in and across behind runners to obtain cover from its wide barrier in the early stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed Whispered Secret to be lame (2/5) in the near fore leg. Trainer Mr K Lees was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the filly racing again. Beau Geste was steadied and shifted in and across behind runners from its wide barrier after the start. When questioned, G Schofield explained that whilst endeavouring to improve to the outside of Mana near the 600m, Tears In Heaven maintained its position to his outside resulting in his mount making contact with that horse for a short distance thereafter and was unable to secure racing to the outside of Mana. He said that when Mana commenced to improve, his mount, despite his efforts was left flat footed after the 500m and he lost touch with that horse, during which time, the leading division drew a margin on his mount. He said that in the early part of the straight, he placed Beau Geste under full pressure and Beau Geste only provided a limited response and for this reason, for a short distance approaching the 100m, he put the whip the away and rode Beau Geste along hands and heels. He said that when Beau Geste, under this style of riding, commenced to close the race off, he immediately resumed with the whip again and Beau Geste finished off strongly. Dortmund raced wide and without cover throughout. Ziganui raced wide and without cover throughout. Tears In Heaven raced wide and without cover throughout. RACE 8 Bowermans Office Furniture Handicap 1400m Cadman shifted its off fore plate in the tie up stalls and when that plate could not be refitted, and the horse was also too fractious to remove its near fore plate, Cadman was a late withdrawal on the application of trainer Mr M Rumble at 4.39pm and in accordance with Racing NSW policy, the Stewards confirmed the withdrawal.
Barricade began awkwardly and then was shifted in and across behind runners from its wide barrier after the start. Barricade hung in for the major part of the straight and proved difficulty for C Brown to ride the horse out in his usual manner. Roman Son was slow to begin and then was shifted back in and across runners from its wide barrier after the start. Roman Son, near the 250m, when commencing to close the race off well, was steadied when briefly disappointed for running between Distinctive Look and Global Rocket, both of which shifted ground. Raqeeq slow to begin. In the early stages, Raqeeq became detached however was reconnected with the field after the 800m. Tenorino raced wide and without cover throughout. Legendofoz when questioned regarding the disappointing performance, B Avdulla said his mount began only fairly and soon after came under pressure to maintain his position. He said that for the majority of the race, he travelled wide and without cover and despite his vigorous riding after the 400m, Legendofoz failed to respond and in his opinion was not entirely comfortable on today's surface, which was displaying some attrition later in the day. Co-trainer Mr M Hawkes was advised that the Stewards will assess the immediate racing future of Legendofoz following a report from his veterinarian tomorrow morning. Schedule near the 1300m, was steadied to avoid the heels of Absolute which was taken in slightly by Distinctive Look and then raced keenly for a short distance thereafter. Arigold in the early part of the straight had to be steadied when briefly crowded between Raqeeq and Distinctive Look, both of which shifted ground slightly.
