THE 10 th ANNUAL DISQUE/RAMPONE TRACK RELAYS A FUN-FILLED MIDDLE SCHOOL TRACK AND FIELD EVENT DATE: Thursday, May 3, 2018 4:00 p.m. (Rain Date May 4, 2018) ENTRIES: This meet is for athletes in grades 6-8. Due to the success of the meet and the number of schools participating the follow limits for entries must be followed: Relay Running Events 3 entries per event Individual Running Events 6 entries per event Relay Field Events 2 entries per event The Individual 800 is for 6 th graders only and the Individual 1600 is for 6 th 8 th graders. RUNNING EVENTS: Please have the running event cards filled out and given to the clerk when the event is announced. All running events will be clerked on the infield by the tent. When the event is called, entry needs to hand in their card and wait in the clerking area. The number of heats for each event will be determined by the number of entries. The event and the number of entries will determine if the event will be run in lanes or using a waterfall/california start. FIELD EVENTS: Please have the field event cards filled out and give them to the clerk in the area of event as soon as your team arrives. The Long Jump, Discus, and Shot Put will be held in the Open Pit format. All throws/jumps must be made between 4:00 and 6:30. Each competitor will be allowed 3 attempts in these events. If possible, have your 3 competitors compete together. In the high jump each jumper will be allowed a maximum of 6 jumps provided the jumper has not fouled out before he/she reaches his/her 6 jump maximum. Even if the jumper is successful on each attempt, only a maximum of 6 jumps will be allowed. The starting height for girls will be 3 6 and move 2 until 4. At 4 boys and girls will jump concurrently and the bar will be moved up at 2 increments from that point on. COST: AWARDS: $ 10.00 per team per event $ 5.00 per individual in the 800 and 1600 Please make checks payable to Newton Track and Field Ribbons will be awarded to the top five teams/individuals in each event. Final order will be determined by time or total distance/height. A trophy will be given out to the first place boys team and the first place girls team. The point system is as follows: 10 8 6 4 2.
OTHER INFORMATION: 1. Please mail the entry form along with a check or purchase order to Jake Mull Newton Track and Field 44 Ryerson Avenue Newton, NJ 07860 Please make checks payable to Newton Track and Field 2. When you arrive at the meet, pick up a packet with your entries cards at the tent in the infield. You may not use your own entry cards. If you would like your entry cards before the day of the meet, we would gladly mail them to you once we receive your entry form. 3. In the past, we were able to finish this meet by 7:00 but due to the success of the meet we expect this years meet will over by 7:30. We have lights so darkness is not a problem. 4. Athletes may compete in a maximum of four events. 5. Teams must supply their own batons. 6. There will be no practice throws or jumps in the field events after 4:00p.m. 7. Girls high jump will begin at 4:00p.m. and the boys will join in when the height reaches 4. Make sure your jumpers keep an eye on the height placard. If they need to leave the area for another event, they must get permission from the high jump official first. 8. IN ORDER FOR A MEET OF THIS MAGNITUDE TO BE SUCCESSFUL, IT IS NECESSARY THAT ALL COACHES AND ATHLETES REMAIN IN THE BLEACHERS WHEN NOT COMPETING. ABSOLUTELY NO PARENTS ON THE INFIELD. 9. The officials, who check in teams at each event, will require that all athletes remove all jewelry before competing. Taping and excuses will not be acceptable. It is recommended that your athletes leave their jewelry at home. Every year we end up with enough to start our own flea market. 10. Individual times in relays will not be taken for you; please time your own athletes. Only the top 5 times will be recorded. Again, time your own athletes. 11. Refreshments will be sold during the meet. Remind your kids to bring money. The refreshment stand does not accept credit cards or checks. 12. DUE TO LIMITED PARKING, WE ASK YOUR COOPERATION IN TWO AREAS: a. Bus Parking: As your bus enters the high school driveway, drop off your team in the back of the school and park at the Methodist Church at the end of Ryerson Avenue. b. Parents Parking: Please advise your parents who will be attending, to park in the back of the high school.
