Triathlon 4 x Mixed Relay Competition Beachborough is thrilled to be running our 4 x Mixed Relay event again this year. This format known as 4 X Mixed Relay, comprises of two boys and two girls who must compete in the following order: girl, boy, girl, boy. Each athlete completes a mini triathlon of swimming, biking and running, before passing over the timing chip to their next team mate. With numerous lead changes, lots of unpredictable drama and the display of team pride, this action-packed event appeals tremendously to children, which the International Triathlon Union is passionate about encouraging, as the ITU are aiming for Triathlon Mixed Relay to be added to the Olympic programme in Tokyo 2020. Additionally, the mixed relay format represents ITU s commitment to promoting gender equality in sport, showcasing that men and women can practice the sport together on the same field of play.
